I really don't see the problem with a story mode version of each dungeon and why some people are so against this. It won't effect you one damn bit.

It is just to experience the story without being rushed by people that only want to race through it.

No "find a group/guild" is NOT an answer because no 2 people play at the same pace, someone is always feeling rushed or held back.

There should be no vet version of the story dungeons. You should just get XP, some gold and decon fodder, maybe a single chest to find and open. We aren't asking to be given monster helms and gold jewlery.

    How about this?

    Spectator/Exploration Mode:

You enter the dungeon, and you are escorted through by an NPC. This NPC will do all the fighting, you only get to observe. You cannot loot the crates, urns, and barrels and such. You can walk around and look at anything you like. You cannot be damaged, and you cannot attack anything. After each boss, the NPC will wait for you to interact with it to tell it to move forward. You get to experience the dialog/story, and take in all the scenery, and that is all.

No, I am the one doing the story. I want to play the content, not watch a movie.

So you don't want a "Story Mode". You want a difficulty setting that allows you to solo dungeons. This would require a decent amount of work to change mechanics on a lot of fights which require more than 1 person. 1 Example is Wayrest Sewers. The boss which locks you down until your team interact with the 2 alters. Unless you burn the boss down incredibly fast, you cannot complete that encounter.

There is a way to do it where you can experience the story and still participate. Yes its a difficulty setting and some encounters might need to be tweeked, but it's not much different than the difference in normal vs vet setting and changes in mechanics that happen in HM vs vet in many dungeons.

Doing an entire movie version of those dungeons, NPC pathing, NPC voice over would be way more work and expense than tweeking an encounter here and there. The vast majority wouldn't need much work at all.

They can remove the set loot and the skill point and you won't get credit for completion as you would with a 4 man version run.

If I want to watch a movie, I have plenty of cable channels and streaming services for that. I am here to play a game, not watch a movie.

I'm just not sure if ZOS would be willing to invest the resources in going back through all the dungeons and doing any of this. When a new dungeon is created, it is created with both Normal and Vet mechanics planned out. But to go back and change them now, may not be worth the money spent on the staff to do this.

Doing a movie version of every dungeon with NPC guides, paying for actors to do voice overs, NPC pathing, and the camerawork involved would be even more work and expense to go back and do.

Making a solo version would involve just copying the current version, changing the few encounters where mechanics need adjustment for single players and changing the levels of the enemies. The camerawork and voice acting is already done.

They have done some of this for other things already.

    1) When Craglorn was revamped, they changed all of the encounters that required multiple people doing mechanics so that they could be done solo.

    2) There was a group dungeon in Alik'r (?) where they changed the mechanics
of one boss fight that required 2 people so that it could be done solo.

3)They rescaled every NPC enemy in the entire game when 1 Tamriel happened so that part shouldnt be hard at all.

There’s already plenty of solo content and nothing’s stopping you from soloing dungeons anyway. If anything we need less solo content and more group content since it is a MMO and not a single player RPG after all...

So are you willing to wait around while other people listen to dialog and read every word and sentence the NPC says even if it's the 10th or 20th time through the dungeon for you and their first?

Yes, frequently, because I am not an 'A hole', waiting a few minutes extra in a dungeon really isnt the end of the world and I like to help other players. I do this even in dungeons I have ran over 300 times.

Theres no point for creating solo versions of 4 man dungeons because you can ENTER them solo, NOW. Whether you can make it to the end solo is entirely up to you, outside of a handful of dungeons requiring another person because of some mechanic.

    Have at it.

Sure with a fully leveled max CP character in decent gear. Try doing Banished Cells on a level 15, no CP running the zone and just wants to run the relevant content in the dungeon that relates to the nearby overland content and all they find are higher level players that just want to do vet pledges and rush through it in 10 minutes or people that just kick them the second they load in.

I have never understood the hostility within the community towards Players wanting a solo mode in dungeons to enjoy the stories presented. The same people also want everyone to hustle through Dungeons and not slow the groups because they want to do the story mission and hear the content.

Can't have it both ways. Just support the solo mode with a reduced reward by reserving the dungeon gear for when it is done as a group and not during solo mode. Simple solution actually.

One reason I would oppose it, is it could further divide the player pool in queues.

Maybe the reason for the small queue is people don't like grouping? More reason for solo mode.
Maybe they are tired for fake tanks and fake heals? More reason for solo mode.
Maybe those fake tanks and fake heals can, you know, go into Solo Mode instead and not ruin the queue?
SWTOR started Solo Story Mode and it hasn't destroyed the Veteran group mode or Master Mode queues at all.

I think ZOS is being stupid by not making a Story Mode of all dungeons. There is a lot of Money to be made there, especially from people like me, who won't by the DLC because I don't enjoy them due to being sick and tired at being forced to run at everyone else's pace.

I also think the, "This is an MMO" argument is absolutely hilarious given the amount of story content and exploration placed into the Dungeons, especially the new ones.

When first playing the PTS this cycle, I did both dungeons and the first time doing them, the people I was partnered with just wanted to figure the fights out quickly, and still burn through them. They totally missed out on the Secret bosses from the one Dungeon.

The second time through, this happened again, but this time I was partnered with HeroOfNone and both of us liked exploring so after doing the dungeon, or so we thought... as we wondered what was behind the glowing door and why we weren't able to go through it, and I was curious about the disembodies voice I heard in this odd tunnel I found that I couldn't explore earlier.

Well, him and I found a whole other hour or more of fun as we split directions and I went back to follow the crack in the wall and to jump down into the void to find that there was a secret boss down there with a secret mission. That lead to finding the other bosses and trying to figure them out and exploring the dungeon and story more.

THAT was the most fun I've had in this game in over 2 years!!!

One thing I've noticed about this game, as an MMO compared to the solo games, and once you reach the end game content, it's all about, rush, rush, rush. Hurry, Hurry, Hurry, plow through everything as quickly as you can, and if someone falls behind too bad. You are forced to keep up with the quickest person who keeps pulling ahead, no matter what, otherwise you miss out, even if you are in a group made of guild mates.

For a lot of people, the more they are made to rush through content and keep pace and are basically held hostage to another player's standards, the more they get burned out playing the game. The more it feels like a job. And ZOS making things more of a Korean MMO grind fest style, the quicker that burn happens, the less people are actually enjoying the content. The more they are playing catch up with their guild and friends, and they less they are really playing all aspects of the game.

When I stopped playing the game by my guildmates and other players' fast paced rules, the more I started to enjoy this game again. I was actually enjoying the story, enjoying exploration and enjoying the slow pace. It was relaxing and fun.

The 2 new DLC Dungeons this week are all about exploration and it's going to be interesting to see, just how many people try to plow through them in the first week, until they realize there is whole secondary story happening that they never bothered to explore and play through.

Having more dungeons like this, but with Story Mode, so players can enjoy them quietly and in their own time and really immerse themselves in the actual Story, the environment and the artwork that went into creating this; but by themselves; will actually get a lot of players like myself into actually buying the DLC Dungeons.

Until that happens, I know I won't be every buying any DLC Dungeons.

And who says MMOs have to always be about forcing group content on players in order to progress through certain story points? Massively Multi-Player Online, that's it... no MUST GROUP tagged at the end of that. Maybe it's time for traditional MMOs (of which ESO was long described as never being designed to be one), too change and get with the times and evolve to encompass all player styles.

Far too many characters to list any more.

A lot of the times when i'm running dungeons I always like to look around and explore, but that's really hard to do when everyone is rushing through dungeons and you need to keep up just so you don't waste people's time, so there's details and neat things you want to look for in the dungeon but can't because your team is already on the next boss

I'm wondering if ZOS will ever do solo 4 man dungeons just so people can appreciate the maps they put a bunch of effort into making, it really seems like a lot of the stuff they work and all the details they put into dungeons is missed by a lot of players because everyone is rushing through it, and that's completely fine but sometimes it really would be nice to tackle a dungeon on your own without the pressure of your team or being kicked from the instance after everyone left

I know there's dungeon mechanics that need a full group but I mean zos could just get rid of those and decrease the number of enemies in the dungeon just so it can be soloable (and also get rid of certain loot drops like sets and monster gear just so people don't exploit the mode), even if they can't make a solo version for 4 man dungeons it would be great to have an option to stay in the dungeon after everyone is gone

I doubt zos will make something like this and I'm sure a lot of people woulnd't like it, I just think it would be a nice addition to the game

And, as has been said 58284929943, the overwhelming majority of folk who want solo mode are completely fine with that.

Nah, leave the skill point, most folk who want story mode are hardcore questers, even the MQ + skyshards leave you with a surplus of skill points anyway.

If difficulty is the yardstick, Fungal Grotto 1 4-man should get nothing at all. Walking up a tower in Sentinel shouldn't get you 1/3rd of a skill point either.
Any kind of Veteran overland should also drop the same garbage as normal overland since you can group up enough to make it too easy, just like Alik'r Dolmens.
