If you are able to use a hard line, do it. While you won't have problems with wireless if you set it up correctly, there is no reason to use it if you can run a hard line. I haven't had any problems with it, but if I could run a hard line, I would.

Agreed. If you can use a hard-line, do so. It's just better, and that's proven.

With that said, no, not all of us have the luxury of choice. I do not own my home and I cannot get a wire from the router to my PC, so I have to use WiFi.

With that said, I also invested in a high-quality network card, and I have no problems with ping. In fact, my ping is better than many wired guys in my guilds.

Just give me fiber. *sigh* Yeah right. Not happening in what's left of my lifetime. No one wants to run fiber for less than 200 full time residents - 75% of whom actually "live" somewhere else, where there IS fiber....

Only ever played on wifi. Only option I've had. Maybe if I ever get my own place where I can choose where to wire my router/modem maybe then I can hardwire it. But wifi tends to work just fine for the most part. Only the occasional signal loss causing disconnects.

I typically play on wired but, when traveling, have raided on wireless successfully.

Mileage does vary and does depend on a bunch of factors, many of which have been mentioned already.

I will say that while I think playing on wifi can work just fine, downloading updates is significantly more efficient on wired. So if the cable won't break the bank, but you just don't want to look at it being connected all of the time, I'd buy one for those just in case moments and to download game or OS updates.

Aside from occasional disconnecting when my card throws a hissy fit it all works the same as when I was playing on cable connection.

I've been playing on WiFi since 2014 with no issues. My laptop is in the livingroom and the modem and router are in the bedroom where my desk is. I have two desktops but I like to be comfy when I play so I play on my laptop. I have a decent connection(Xfinity) and there is no one else in the house using the internet at the same time.

I play on WIFI as where my modem was set up by our company is in a place where nobody can sit down and use it through ethernet cable. It works fine despite some ping issues every now and then.

I'm just curious if others use Wifi to play ESO.

I recently got my internet back, and my computer is a distance away from our modem. I thought about buying a long Ethernet cable to connect to my computer. I've always used a Ethernet cable, however, last night I downloaded the ESO updates and played a little ESO during prime time in Kaal using WiFi. I didn't notice much lag at all. The internet I am using has 400 mbps download and upload speed.

I'm curious if others use wifi and if they have any issues. It would be nice just to play on wifi but something tells me I should just go buy the Ethernet cable.

Just get 5g repeaters and routers and you'll be fine. Better than wired almost.

As long as I have a choice I will always use wired over wireless. Like many have stated before wireless is simply fickle and could start going wonky for no apparent reason at any time. For me the simple reason for going wired is when you call your internet provider tech support and the first thing they ask you to do before they will give support is to "connect wired".
