ESO Needs Better Motif.

DLC after DLC, including motif after motif.(that's not my complain btw)...
And yet feels like its been an eternity, since I last saw a proper awesome looking motif.(plenty of meh ones tough)

I am TIRED of skirt-looking leg motifs, and "final fantasy/grim reaper" looking impractical GreatSwords.
It's been years, and most of my chars are still rocking the darkbrotherhood legs and ebony GreatSword motifs.

ZOS need to come up with some proper new designs that fit in the universe and don't look outright ridiculous.

Instead we have [snip] legion zero type stuff.
Even friggin Skyrim had better looking options

There are loads of different kinds of motifs in the game, The practical ones are kind of boring looking though (personal opinion). What do you envision when you want something "proper" yet "awesome"? Provide some examples, or no one will be able to relate.

Yes, there are loads of motifs that are practical but not awesome.

For example: Nord, Redguard, Altmer, Breton swords are practical.
But they don't look awesome like Ebony, Pact, Yokudan and a FEW others.

Proper but awesome? You should just check out Redguard and Breton. Those are the most "proper" well designed motiffs. After that you are going to start getting more eccentric ones.

    Purely subjective.

What else could it possibly be ?

If something doesn't suit your personal taste, it doesn't mean that game needs "better designers"

Given the fact that my knowledge of history and weaponry and elder scrolls lore is far above the average, I believe it kinda sorta does.

Most of your OP was subjective. The exception is the discussion about the practicality of the swords.

But if we're worried about authenticity -- well, I believe every single bow design involves a quiver on the back. :) Oops!

Most of your OP was subjective. The big decision is the discussion about the practicality of the swords.

But if we're worried about authenticity -- well, I believe every single bow design involves a quiver on the back. :) Oops!

Most of the light armor in game being skirt-ish in appearance is not subjective.
Most of the swords designs in game being impractical is not subjective.(Ask anyone who has above average knowledge of actual swords)

The question then remains about the cool factor. The cool factor comes from being 'new and exquisite'.
Like the Ebony greatsword style, and the skyrim robe offered as examples in the original post.

The heavy silver dawn outfit is the bees knees. I cant imagine my stamplar in any other outfit. That said, more paladin-esque motifs would be awesome, smaller staves would be cool too, so it looks less awkward when my magic dk whips his 1.5 meter staff at enemies.

Opinions by their nature cannot be objective. What you indicated in your OP was mostly opinion. Thus you can't claim to have an objective view on the topic. An objective view would show clear examples of designs past and present. They would also simply request more variation in styles is needed and not leap to the unsupported conclusion that ZOS needs to obtain new staff.

In addition you claim to have more knowledge of TES lore and history than most people here. This can be considered subjective and not objective as unless you can prove said fact by considering the credentials and expertise of every player it is a statement of opinion, not fact. Also, since said comment indicates that you consider yourself better than others it can be interpreted by some opinions as arrogant.

Then I'II guess no one has ever stated something objective?

    Read the thread please.

Very subjective, for example, I really liked the new motifs that are coming this year (Knight of the Circle, for example).

I do think they have gotten better and better and more detailed over time... but they seem to be restricted by the engine and the fact that all parts of all motifs and weapons need to work in combination with all other parts of all other motifs...and that is quite limiting in what you can do.

Implying I said there have been no practical styles coming out.

    Which I did not say.

I'm not really into ESO fashion, but there is one thing I really don't like about most motifs. Most head pieces look very very ugly. Either they are twice as big as your head or they have all kinds of useless attachments to them. It's also the reason why most of my characters don't wear a helm, in most cases it looks better to wear none.

I just want them to release more existing styles that are currently unobtainable for Outfit Designer. Ebon, Lich, Original Ashlander, Reach Winter etc. I cannot stand unobtainable gear in RPGs.

Stolen clothes should also be made available for Outfit Designer btw.
    Agree here.

I haven't seen a new motif I've liked since Summerset and even those there are only a select few pieces I like of each set...

I feel that some are too intricate or too Particular to that set so they really only work with the full set as someone mentioned and I find that boring bc I don't usually like the whole set of any motif and miss when they could be more easily mixed and matched.

IK with the Nord Chapter coming up it will be a long while before I see another motif I really like what with The animal hides and their Giant Clumsy stitching and loose burlap sack garbage bag fabrics that drown my petite frame.

Something without Bones or Skulls or that overly intricate Anime style the Khajiits have... The contrast between Players and NPC characters is so palpable it's just distasteful Especially in the base game, Even the Nobles and Faction leaders look like peasants in comparison.

Idk, maybe I'm just getting bored with this game...

I've thought the same thing as the OP many times...but, how many sets are there in this game now? 350? How many different designs can there be anyway?
