Hey all, just confirming what some of you have already guessed: With Update 25 coming we wanted to be mindful of those who might have to spend some extra time redownloading the game. That's why there are fewer rewards this month.

I do login everyday if I can regardless of the rewards, given that I actually enjoy playing ESO, so having no rewards for the last week of the month makes no difference to me.
That said, I thought that we would have filler rewards (coins, APs and Tel Var stones) for the last eight days of February, essentially skipping the fourth big reward that those with slower connections could be unable to get

Doesn't matter how fast your internet is when the other end botlenecks which is the likely outcome of this. I see ZOS management being prepared to just $weat it out rather than $tart extra capacity to keep things ticking over smoothly.

Anything may happen but judging from my limited experience from PTS load, it should go just fine assuming non-metered connection.

Took overnight (copper dsl, <2Mbyt/s for me), when load started I did free some space for it and did not stay up to babysit the launcher but got impression it did really did not take much excess disc space. Slower connection will take more time of course.

(Maybe those with metered connection could try discussing a possibility for discount for this with their service provider before their behinds get probed?)

So ZOS expect the re-download to take users 7 days!

I knew they servers were bad but this is just confirmation of HOW bad

If someone takes a week to load same I load in 8h at ~20Mbit/s they are still loading almost 1Mbit/s average. (20Mbit/s * 8 / 168 = 0.95Mbit/s). One would be lucky to get that from 3G wireless data service for example.

Edit: PTS reload might have been slightly larger than live should be. But its still a nontrivial chunk of data.

So, not only should we expect excessively long and potentially error-prone downloads, but we are the ones who must sacrifice for it. Do we get a weeks worth of rewards all at once, as a pre-emptive good-will gesture? No, we just lose the rewards altogether.

This one finds this quite unjust, upon reflection.

Well the 'good will' gesture is apparently some kind of pet you can get for free after re-dowloading. I guess you can frame that as the big reward to cover the timeframe, if you want to?

FOMO. I am actually quite concerned that constant events and a some of the nicer daily rewards turn gaming into chore, at least for me. I was sooo happy to miss 100k gold in January, tbh, because I didn't HAVE to log in to get something unique. Got all fresh for Midyear Mayhem :D

I can answer that. Nope! Console players get screwed. Again. Leave it to Zos to attempt to spin a negative into a positive. "We're giving you less because we care about you."

Personally I don’t care either way if they do or don’t as it is only a game (yes I’m console). I just was wondering what their official plans were. But thanks.

Yeah I'm sitting here being, "if all you log in for is the daily rewards have you considered it might be time to find a new game?".

Don't get me wrong I love freebies and I'll gladly take the daily rewards, but that's not why I log on. The daily rewards is just a nice icing on the cake.

They make daily login rewards to trick people into caring about logging in.
So now some people care about those daily rewards. Success for ZOS, right?
But some people get upset that people now care about logging in for the rewards.
Other people get upset about the rewards themselves.
It's just another case of "you can't please everyone".

We have been brain washed that this is how things are done now. Back in the day, we use to get a Thank You from Bethesda for supporting and buying their product. Bethesda called it ad ons. Then Bethesda wanted to charge for ad ons and not say thank you anymore and call it DLC. Funny now Bethesda wants to charge for free DLC and call it stories.

Sadly many people think this is normal now. People forget back in the day we buy a complete game on purchase, and own that game. Now people are use to giving their money freely and never own anything anymore. Be it videos, movies, games or what not.

It's not what become of gamers. Gamers like my son don't know how the gaming industry was before. They think this is normal practice now. My son doesn't even know at one time want an expansion is. All he knew was game passes to get extra maps and micro DLC.

So it's not the gamers fault. It's just different generations. Just like when having a skirt above the ankles was a no-no, then it was acceptable to have a skirt above the ankles but not the knees. Know it's acceptable to have skirts above the knees as well. It's a generational thing and it's the gaming companies who are teaching the young kids to make stuff we find unacceptable to be acceptable.

Just like how Zenimax/Bethesda Softworks rely on teaching young kids to gamble. At least Zenimax is not preying on 3 year olds yet for gambling. I will give them that much. Now if ESO was an adult only product it would be different then, but sadly they are trying younger kids to make it acceptalbe, that is why we have Blades and Fallout 76 now.

It comes down to the Publishers and thier sleazy tactics. If it wasn't for the hard work of the actual people who make the games, I would have stopped playing a long time a go, but need to support the people who love to do that actual work.

Do they? I suspect they are not very successful, given the number of people who complain about them.

If they wanted to do that, every day would be mainly currencies and Crown Crates. The quantities would increase during the month. People might scoff at the currencies, but they are the most disposable and useful of the things that they hand out.

As I see it, there is no one reason why they have the rewards. Yes, they can be considered loyalty rewards for logging in every day. They are new player friendly, like the level rewards, and a way to get consumable items to new players and low level characters that may not have easy access to that stuff. They are also a way to build a dependency on Crown consumables and to boost Crown sales.

It actually is an adult only product, if you consider adults to be 17+. As an aside, so is Fallout 76.
