Agreed. Maintenance often go sideways. Scheduling it on a US federal holiday is bound to *** off more of your customers when you botch it.

I say, go boycott the new extension in view of the incompetence of Zenimax has been running a 5 years MMORPG and always the same problems with x number of maintenances to solve a problem, well supposedly.

Go rebellion and stop the TESO subscription just to send a worldwide message this time if by the players !!!

No, because after a while, you have to stop the *** with each extension you're entitled to, stop after a while !!!

Retail people work on those days because our society has set a demand for stores to be open.

But MLK is a national holiday just like thanksgiving, christmas, etc. Any government related business is closed. Trash collection is closed. Lots of businesses without a storefront are closed. I, personally, work in mental health and our facility is closed for the holiday as well despite having no connection to government.

Government is closed and schools, but here in Michigan trash is working.

Agreed. IIRC only about 30% of people get mlk day off, and most of those work govt jobs. A minority of a minority of employees.

I am a software developer and have worked in numerous industries for 23 years. Pharmaceuticals, finance, insurance, telecommunications, etc. All private companies - no government work. I have had off on MLK Day for all 23 of those years.

I have a similar work history and only ever got MLK day off in government contracting.

That being said, extended maintenance is a reality. Sometimes you apply a patch and find out it breaks something weird. Sometimes your 3rd party hosting service makes a mess, or quoted you 1 hour, when they take 5 hours to do something. Sometimes your dev team tries to cram a new fix (manual grouping) into an existing one because "this will definitely work!" 3x in a row...

I have also been @ZOS_GinaBruno - the one who has to explain why we're still down to customers. And believe me, companies who are losing hundreds of thousands in revenue are MUCH nicer than gamers. *looks pointedly at forums*

Canada, US, Japan, and Netherlands all have a celebration.

its not an official day off tho, i don't see any mention of it on our state website regarding it. I also never heard of anyone i know celebrating mlk and never done so myself.

MLKday in no holiday though it is Blue Monday, officially the most depressing day of the year....

Y'know, I know it's a game that spans countries, but, it would've been nice if the extended downtime, hotfixes, and so on didn't happen on (for NA, at least) a holiday...
