Potentate's Retreat. Light. I give up.

I tried to add a proper light to the main hall of Potentate's Retreat. I played with Culanda, Varla, Magna Geode (large and small), Hlaalu Salt Lamp, Psijiik Lighting Globe, Velkynd Crystals, Tanzelvil Stone. My outcome is:
- a good a mount of light, disgusting yellow or disgusting blue
- a good white light, either very bright or very little to create the proper room I want.
I tried different combinations, different height, different quantity. Chandeliers/lanterns simply do nothing. I give up. I don't know, what else to try...

Yeah, I guess the backyard will be only area to focus on. Yet I wanted this house to be my treasury...

@myskyrim26 - of what I understand you need a strong natural-looking light source, right? Did you try Daedric Chandelier, Ritual or Daedric Brazier, Table? They are really strong (slightly on the yellow side) and cheapo to craft. The only annoying thing here may be the sound of burning fire.Dark brotherhood braziers have a good brightness, but they are crown store only, so if you're up for trying them, do it as the last resort.

Oh, will try those daedric things, thank you ever so much!

UPD - didn't work... seems too red and gives little light... the house is cursed.

I bought this house too, and I can’t figure out how to light up the domed area in the center room. Honestly, chandeliers in this game are utterly useless. They need a wide area of illumination, not the same radius as a single candle.

For the Varla and Culanda mix specifically, stack them ontop of eachother and then sink them into ceiling/floors/walls.
If you use EHT you can sink them significantly further and far more precisely than otherwise.
This will dull the light but still make it seem lit up.

I know Ald Velothi isn't the darkest of houses but it's a good example of the dynamics of it; you will of course need far more in potentates but that comes with the size of the house. (First picture shows the crystals second picture the crystals have been moved ~400 in game units up into the ceiling.)
Can also use Clockwork Illuminator, Solitary Capsule. They aren't as glaring yellow as other light sources and are quite bright and I think the pillars will be thick enough to sink them into the main area. Again walls/corners/floors for other spots to give you the lighting you want.

Yeah, to be honest, I knew this would be the problem with it.

Which is partly why I didn't get it.

I've been asking for a giant Redguard Chandelier, on a very long chain, for years now, but nope.

I know you have found an invisible solution, but if you want a visible light source, you could try putting several Redguard Chandeliers, in a star pattern.

The chains won't reach the ceiling, if you have the brazier parts at the height you ideally need them at, but you can either ignore that, or rely on the Capsule for light and just have the Chandeliers for decoration.

Unfortunately, Clockwork Illuminator is not an invisible solution - yet the only providing a good white light. But I need to figure out how to "justify" CWC items in a Khajiit estate. The idea of Redguard chandeliers in a star pattern is awesome - they are beautiful and will perfectly hide the "improper" objects. Thank you!

The Hakoshae lanterns are pretty bright as well, and they come in three different tastes, I mean, colors - white, blue and red. Perhaps play around with those, too?

    No problem.

Yes, that is the problem I have with the Clockwork lighting, too - unless it can be hidden, it looks out of place, to me.

I got quite a lot of light into that room via making my own chandelier, and adding a couple of Calunda's to the sides of the room, hidden in the stone pillars.

When the game doesn't provide, sometimes you have to get creative. Just an example of what you could try.

the craftable psijic globes (very bright blue ligth) paired with bright candle light = a really beautiful natural white light. Have you tried those?

It's very white but also obnoxiously massive so again you'd have to literally sink it way into a wall to hide it.

I’ve got 4 culanda stones, 4 veiled crystals, and an Orchish chandelier up there and it’s still not bright enough. I really want those square tiles to have more light on them.

I thought about the Clockwork light but I would want to place it high up in the dome and would want something rather large to place under it to hide it, but can’t come up with any ideas.

    Ah, OK.

I guess you could sink it into the ceiling and then use something like a metal pot, again partially sunk into the roof, to make it look like a light fitting?

Whether the light would extend all the way down to the floor, I don't know, but you could do that and then use lamps and/or sconces to light the bottom section.

Veiled Crystals won't do anything up there in the slightest; to give you an idea of the light difference.

As you can see it's a massive difference of light, veiled crystals are among the weakest in the game.

I really wish I could get on PTS and just buy Potentates but it's not available now so it makes it hard to test for you. Perhaps that's maybe what you could do is hop on PTS yourself and go to your house since you own it and go crazy buying stuff and testing lights up there?

I'll post a screencap later but I opted to make a chandelier out of (dimmed) light fixtures, then hide Culanda inside. Yes, it gives the dome a yellow light, but it looks great against the tiles, imo. The accent lighting I used is all candles, so "white" light.

Oh no, don’t worry about it. I’m on PS4, I’ll figure out something eventually. It’s going to take me forever to get that house even half filled.

Any blue light fixture plus a yellow light fixture will make white light, so there are a lot of things you can pair. As mentioned above, Culanda + Varla is super bright and you get a lot of area with that and can position it into the walls/ceiling/floors to regulate it. There are a lot of braziers that have blue flame that there's a regular flame version of, or similar (Imperial vs. Coldharbour, for instance). The Coldharbour glowstalks and Vvardenfell glowstalks, which are the exact same models so you can superimpose them very neatly. And the daedric candles and regular candles. :)
