This thread is for you to share some of your "Oops!" moments. Come on, you know you want to! So put aside those nerf threads, those server threads, and those guild trader conspiracy threads, and share a laugh or ten. Here are two of my recent ones.

The other night I decided to finally complete the zone story quests for Southern Elsweyr. After finishing one of the quests, I wake up and find myself up on top of a high overlook with one of the NPCs. So I decide to walk to the edge of the overlook, take in the view, and see if there are any nodes or whatever along the top of the cliff. After enjoying the view a moment, I turn around to go back to the NPC, but slip. Aaaah! Splat. After I rezzed on the shore at the bottom of the cliff, I decide to make the best of the situation and run around farming. Then I tried to swim around the base of the rock to reach the main shore, but gotten eaten by slaughterfish. I rezzed back in Senchal, then took the wayshrine back to Dragonguard headquarters. The only good news was that I'd already spoken with the NPC on the overlook, so that step of the quest was done, and she'd told me to return to Dragonguard headquarters.

Today I'm grinding in Karnwasten to try to get the few remaining fragments of the Big-Eared Ginger Kitten collectible. Having gone through Karnwasten many times in the past, I'd decided that the best route to take is to jump off the first bridge into the pool of water below to get the boss in the next room, since that part of the caverns is a dead end. I've done this before, but today I jump over the side of the bridge and end up in the branches of a tree. Splat! I guess it's a stone-branch tree.

Once I tried to pickpocket an NPC near some boxes on a pier. Well, he moved a couple of steps, and I was trapped between him and the boxes. The camera swung in close, and I seriously could not jump or move, nor could I see anything. Lesson learned.

My first Midyear Mayhem, I hopped on Shor early in the morning and wound up leading a PUG raid by virtue of being the only person to say "Well, we could go capture that keep over there..."

After we made it around the Emp ring, we decided to try for an AD scroll, and that's when the fun started. :)

First, one of the AD back keeps has a giant cliff on the backside. Guess who forgot and led their raid right over it?

After we all stopped laughing and rezzed up from the pile of broken bodies at the foot of the cliff, we broke into the AD gate, but AD recaptured one of the keeps and close the gate behind us. Turns out that when the gates are closed, there's a little protective barrier around the scroll temple...that does 1 million damage.

It was great fun and I had an awesome morning. The best part was hearing some of the PVE players tagging along say things like "PVP is fun when you have an army!" I'm just glad they all put up with my mishaps as a first time raid lead.

"PVP is fun when you have an army!"

That is the only real truth of PvP. People always mock and insult the pugs and zergs, but having a group of a dozen or more is the only way any REAL work and play in Cyrodiil gets done. Unless you're one of those God Meta Solo builds.

Its especially true if you are new or inexperienced at PVP or heading into a mostly empty campaign.

It was really great to have those PVE players out in Cyrodiil that morning. Later, after the failed scroll take, we faced our first serious fight and got wiped by DC at Bleakers.

Everyone was kind of like "Oh, wow, we got whupped!"

"Yep, that happens in PVP. Let's go get them back!"

And we did! Groups can really help new and inexperienced players get their feet wet in PVP. I was honored to have that experience with them.

Eh, I don't know. A solo player can capture a resource without too much trouble-- as long as there are no enemy players about.

I had a great time last year capturing all of the resources around the enemy keeps, but after awhile I started running into a bit of trouble. I start going through my established procedure for taking a resource by myself-- which requires taking out the guys in the tower next to the flag before going after the flag-- but suddenly a pair of enemy players come racing up. Oh, snap!

I was able to race up to the roof of the tower, go into sneak, jump off, and hide on the side of a rock wall. The two players had caught a glimpse of the direction I'd headed, so they were running back and forth looking for me. I just kept clinging to the side of the rock wall, and they came really close to me a few times, but I managed to stay hidden.

When they finally gave up and left, I waited a little while, then tried again. Naturally, they came running back, but that time I was keeping my eyes open for them, so as soon as I saw them headed my way I decided I'd better give up and leave.

So I guess that was an "Oops!" followed by a "Whew!"

I clearly remember my very first time in Vaults of Madness. You probably all know that broken bridge thing at the end, before you reach the final boss. I'm not quite sure how I did it, but I actually managed to fall into the same hole, right before reaching the boss platform, three or four times in a row.

It was beyond embarrassing, but my PUG was quite nice about it, even though I'm pretty sure they were all laughing at me and/or rolling their eyes, but at least no one was pointing fingers. I have to admit, though, that I have kept a slight PTSD, when it comes to that bridge. Always makes me super nervous having to jump these gaps, even though I can usually avoid falling by now. Most of the time anyway :p

I was doing a sacrament with a friend, and we were in a secret alcove up above the main floor. I said a guard was coming, and my friend started to inch forward to see, and instead did a dodge roll right off the balcony and landed on top of the guard! We were laughing so hard we had tears! Best sacrament ever!

Those are the good days of gameplay, when you have no or very little concept of armor slots and gear sets, and you just wear whatever you find or choose. I spent a lot of time not wearing any pants either, I was enjoying my Khajiit's legs, thinking "what does it matter anyway?"

I could make this exact same post^^^ except I was with friends instead of a pug group. They laughed at me but patiently waited for me to finally make it across.

Also, and I forget which dungeon it is, but it has a large titan with blue flames and 'fears'. If you go too far left, you can fall off the platform into the abyss and can't be rezzed. I am too embarrassed to say how many times I have fallen into the abyss.

Name of the thread sums up my first time PvPing in this game sometime in the summer after PC launch.

Went in with a couple of friends on a heavy armor 2h/S&B stamDK tank. Breton :D Which wouldn't have mattered since it was easy to softcap everything, but I didn't know that at first. Had only recently learned about sets, was running 4pc alessia's bulwark and another ridiculous combination. We had only played in first person up until that point. And we thought we had damage.

3 clueless tanks in Cyro, I think we had impen at least. Let's just say none of us got any kills. We ran into a train of impulse spamming skeletons repeatedly. I learned that spamming Critical Charge repeatedly in melee range =/= a burst combo and we couldn't kill Sabre Ali in a 1v3. Managed to not die in that fight somehow so that was my first positive experience in PvP.

Afterwards I immediately rolled a Dark Elf magDK.

I still fall there about 30 percent of the time. I don’t worry about it anymore — I just run up the stairs and join the fight from the side.

(Never been good at jumping. I quit playing GW2 when it came out because of all the jumping puzzles. Not to mention those original Nintendo Mario games....)

I was in a group with my husband and a mutual friend, doing an easy-peasy normal vanilla dungeon so they could get the skill point. The hubs and I were tra-la-la-ing ahead and neither of us noticed the big hole in the floor (which is particularly sad for me because before this, I had soloed the stupid dungeon at least a half a dozen times). Splat!
As we were making our walk of shame back to our friend, she was overwhelmed by...three banekin. Bless her heart, she’s a good friend, so I like playing with her, but 😬. I have told her I’m there to help her with her build but she’s never taken me up on my offer and seems content dying a lot so I’m not going to push it. I just make sure that we only do dungeons that I can and have soloed and we still have fun, so it works out.

During one of the midyear mayhem events I started a lfg group from zone because the chat was spammed with it. We had some success until I decided we needed to cap Sej so the reds would have no port to alessia. I was looking at the map while mounted and i accidentaly fell into the hole that leads you to cracked wood cave. Obviously half my raid followed me and also fell into the hole!

    Umm, dunno.

I started to farm normal dungeons solo ages ago. GF queue times and often getting players below CP160 (useless for sharing farmed gear), meant that solo farming was & remains a relatively efficient way to farm (without a premade). And its fun!

Anyhoo a while back now, I head into Arx Corinium solo, & crack on. A few mins in, as I was fighting the first boss I thought to myself, this seems a bit harder than usual... I defeated the boss in pretty short order and then checked, yep, I was doing it on veteran solo. Wow I thought, I had just never considered myself capable of doing dungeons on vet solo & never even thought about trying to... I continued and completed it. Since then I have started to work through dungeons on vet solo, its been a welcome new area of exploration and experience!

Not particularly funny, but its an example of an oops moment that has led to good things!

This thread is for you to share some of your "Oops!" moments. Come on, you know you want to!

I logged in today to farm some IC mobs and do a district quest. One EP magden started attacking me, thinking he can easily get a kill. That didn't go as planned for him - we wasted lot of time in a fight. In the end he gave up and tried to run away; I would release unknown or good person, but I recognized him as usual IC zergling, so I chased him. After lot of running away, he run to the district flag - of course there was his group already there. I used tactical retreat (not so far away though, I hate to run away). Then he returned with his stamblade friend to kill me :D He was salty that he couldn't win a fight alone. After returning few times to try to peel him away from his zerg (he wasn't going alone anymore), I then went to other district to farm mobs. I met blue stamden with whom we dueled again for few minutes, then I saw exciting message about maintenance... :/ I had to stop the duel. I could only find and kill one boss, literally in the last moments before server went down. ...And I don't think it will help with the upcoming event, which makes it even more sad :(

This farm didn't really go as I planned :D

Nearly 2 years into the game xD: Not realising there was a drop down menu at the bank to allow for deposit of alternate currencies. (To be fair, I had no need to find out about depositing alternate currencies as there was no IC sewers.)

Last month (luckilly on my alt on NA): Crafted a piece of gold jewellry at the wrong station due to being in a discord conversation and not paying attention OUCH

Well I've yeeted myself off cliffs MANY times, and that one time I used refreshing path on the Alessia bridge and fleeeww to my death. Also first time I went into cyrodiil I tried to cross some water, very quickly got eaten by slaughterfish I wasn't aware of, then everyone in chat started making fun of the pver that tried to cross the water so that was nice.

A few years ago, I was healing vMoL with my guild group. I was on my Warden, we had a pretty smooth run all the way to the twins.

For some reason, I decided to equip Nature's Embrace. Just for the heck of it :p I slotted it on the spot where I normally had Mutagen.

During the fight, bosses were in execute, I had to do some cross healing since both healers were on the same side. I accidentally used the vine pull, because my brain believed that I had Mutagen slotted.

I pulled myself into the tank and we both blew up. We wiped...

    Oops

I'm enjoying your stories; thanks for sharing!

I've been grinding Karnwasten pretty steadily, and unfortunately I've killed myself several times jumping off that bridge and hitting the rocks. Oh well, at least I'm avoiding that tree. :p

It seems Karnwasten is a fairly popular spot, since I've run into quite a few players going through at the same times as me. In some cases we go through together. In other cases it feels like we're racing to kill the bosses first so we don't have to wait for them to respawn.

I ran with one player who must have been new to Karnwasten, because I had two duplicate Ginger Kitten fragments so I asked if she was collecting them, and she didn't even know what they were. After I explained about the pet, she looked and saw that she'd found the collar-- which of course is one of the two fragments I still need. I gave her my two duplicates so she'd have three fragments.

She kept having trouble at the Sload boss; I think she was getting too close to the blue alchemical globes and getting killed by them. That was before I realized she must have been new to Karnwasten. After we parted ways, I thought that I should have told her to stay clear of those globes-- or else destroy any that she couldn't avoid-- but then I couldn't remember her character name to whisper to her.

The one thing I've done waaaay to many times on my main, is to mount up, hit rapid maneuver and accidentally be on the wrong bar and attack a guard instead. I know I can avoid attacking civilians, but since I like to murder those every now and then, I just keep it on. It makes things a bit more interesting.

In PvP, going into a door when enemies are outside, accidentally double click on the door so I go in, and then out again and die in seconds.

Also changing bar twice so I hit a bombard instead of vigor then usually die after shooting at nothing.
