The game is a beautiful and rich world. The graphics are ok and the audio just amazing. Yes, its worth it.

BUT performance. Oh god its so bad. As long as its in a state worse than pre-Betas, dont bother putting in money or playtime. You will just be dissapointed. No... not worth it at all.

Whatever problems the game has (and there are many), there just isn't any good competition for an MMO with fun fast-paced action-oriented combat. Very much worth playing if you haven't already had your fill.

It is fine to play for fun. Casual content is great, some of QOL is good, some is terribad. I mean I would not spend money or hard work in it before server performance is acceptable but yea, if you have it it's worth playing.

That's up to the individual. I played EQ from launch plus 10-13 years. I stayed when hybrids got my warriors mitigation. I stayed when WOW came out and was MUCH more solo friendly. I even stayed a bit longer after they NERFED monk(my main) mitigation due to itemization(a pair of high ac pants only ONE PERCENT of top players could get and they nerfed a whole CLASS! Took over a year to admit it was a mistake. Yeah. Still sore on that one.)
Eventually it wasn't fun and was too demanding on my time. When eso is more of a headache than fun, or starts taking too much time(like rebuilding all my characters every update *cough* looking at you Zo$ *cough*) then maybe I'll pull my sub and try something new.

If you want a larger game with great combat, developers, community relations go play Warframe.
It’s amazing what a smaller company DE and a DEDICATED and TALENTED DEV TEAM of 300 can do when there is passion and commitment towards the game and community.

I still play both a lot but I always have to rebuke players when they say ESO is the best MMO out there.
The fact a WHOLE PLATFORM of players haven’t been able to play since last Thursday should all the answer you need.

Here are some games I’ve played in between my last ESO stint and when I logged in yesterday.

F1 - great game, no one plays it

Madden - 25+ years in and there is still no balance. I was like 31-1 on all-madden vs the CPU and it wasn’t fun because you can’t unknow the glitches.

NBA2K20 - the apex of predatory games. Overall it’s a pretty good game but if you want to play their MMO (My Park) you essentially need to pay an extra $50 just to have a toon who isn’t totally useless. The grind to 85 overall (where you can get instantly with $50) takes about 200 single player games. And if you think the group finder is bad on here with dungeons, imagine if a dungeon required a point guard.

WWE2K20 - I’ve dumped thousands of hours into wrestling games over the years. While there are some improvements theoretically, the game literally doesn’t work. I believe the meta critic score is actually 0.

NHL20 - fun for single player drop ins otherwise it’s more of the same game.

Battlefield V - I uninstalled it in 10 minutes when I remembered that dying to someone who is a mile away isn’t fun.

Tennis World Tour - maybe the worst purchase I’ve ever made.

DC Universe - even like a decade after release there is still a pay wall.

Mortal Kombat - it was fun for a week.

Spiderman - Sort of fun for a week or two.

GTA - Always a good time in spurts but nowhere near the depth of ESO.

    RDO - See GTA.

The Show - Very good game but just as exploitable as every other sports game.

I could go on and on but I’ve dumped way more money than I should into games that ranged from fun for a week or two to outright unplayable garbage. ESO has and likely will always have some issues, but the state of games on XBox and PS4 is pretty lackluster with so many games being jammed into yearly development cycles.

Sorry, OP. I'm still in 2019. Can't help you for 2020, but right now it's pretty ok. Not wonderful if you're on PC EU, but pretty good. Nice stories, constantly updated with new content, all that.

Can I tell you in early 2020 or is this thread only for fortune tellers and time travelers?

Not being a wise guy - there are changes happening over the next few months (particularly performance improvement efforts), plus we'll be getting a peak at what content/theme is in store for 2020 during that interval

The game is very good! There is also a lot to do in it, and you can play the way you want. In fact, you couuld play it mostly like a singleplayer game if you wanted to.

But these server issues as of late are quite alarming. To me it shows Zenimax can't actually handle more players right now.

ESO is one of the Big 3 at the moment for MMORPG
Many stuff to do in game and updates wont make you re grind to be at top
Yes champion system need a new update because we lost a bit of vertical progresion to compensate for balance and PVP
Above all its fun to play

The only reason I am still playing ESO is because you can play without subscription, it takes place in the TES lore and the gameplay is similar to TES games. I see it as a substitute till the next TES title comes out.

If game became subscription-only, I would quit playing the next day.

As for what is gonna happen in 2020, cant say for sure. Truth is I ve done almost all solo content, all DLC dungeons and gathered most of the sets that interested me and now game feels more and more boring by each passing day.

If the combat team can calm down and just make minor adjustments for a bit then it will be fine. If they keep taking wild swings with the sledge hammer then I don't see myself playing it through the end of 2020.

If you're a new player, there's lots to do. But once you've done it, it gets boring. With the current combat team at the helm I'll probably un-sub in 2020. The only thing they excel at is nerfing the fun out of the game.

    Is this game worth playing........?

No. Not until they fix their incessant and chronic server issues. I'm typing this on here because, guess what....? For the umpteenth time this week I cannot log in, because the servers are screwed. Again.

If they dont fix EU, NO.

I cant play AGAIN. Server dont log me in right now. I could not play at weekend because server was patato. They had to disable dungeon finder to fix it temporarily. It is litteraly unplayable and this is not a joke.

"Is (Game Title Here) worth playing in (Current Year Here)?"

That headline is becoming really annoying. It doesn't matter how old a game is, as long as you enjoy it.

The question you should be asking is "is eso playable in 2020?". Seriously though, the game has been degenerating, patch by patch, during the past year (or more). Give it a chance and it will crush it with its bare fists with the first opportunity. The direction of the game is as confusing as its combat updates and the community is just a shadow of its former self.
All I am saying is that eso atm is a problematic, good looking, should-be-free-to-play game. Give it a try if you want but be warned that it's not value for money and the horizon is bleak.

I've been playing for 4 years...I still play because I have many choices...I can go into a town or out in the boonies and just stand there...or I can get into a lot of delves...many of which end up being over my head in various ways...and somewhat stressful. I like crafting and looking for mats. Selling stuff.

I usually find some way to improve a character or something new to try.

As compared to World of Tanks...where if you are not right on top of your game...your experience is not fun...and the stress level is so high...it's like rolling a boulder up a hill where you never get too the top. You can win...but you never really win...

Have play alot WoT at high, wn8, but it becoming close to p2w and totally unbalance, stopped 2-3 year ago with regret, was a great game with lot of potential.
