PTS Update 24 - Feedback Thread for Obtaining New Items

This is the official feedback thread for how the newly-added items (not item sets) are obtained in this update. Specific feedback that the team is looking for includes the following:

• Did you understand how to earn, and did you obtain…
  • Dragon Rheum, the new Alchemy ingredient?
  • Battleground Runner Weapon Styles?
  • Battleground Runner Emotes?
  • The Dragonguard Motif?
  • The Collectible Furnishing, Khunzar-ri’s Rest?
• One of the crafting stations is locked behind a Dragonguard quest. Were you able to find and use these crafting stations?
• Do you have any other general feedback?

For the Refabricated motif, PLEASE reward it via fragments.

The fragment system used for Cloudrest's Welkynar was a much appreciated improvement over the traditional RNG chance on non-HM, for a number of reasons:

1. Fairness: For example, I recently filled for a group that ran several vSS non-HM farm runs. There was one person who received a motif every single run. And there was someone in that group who received no motifs at all. How on earth is that fair?
2. Transparency: Someone looking to farm for the motif without running vet HM has no idea how many runs it will take. It's hard to even give someone an estimate, since nobody knows the drop rate: from that series of farm runs that I filled for, I've seen as few as 2 motifs drop and as many as 6.
3. People do not like RNG: There is already an element of RNG for what chapter you get. Nobody wants, on top of that, another layer of RNG of whether you are lucky to even get a drop. It's much better to get a guaranteed 40% of a motif than a 40% chance at a full motif.

That said, Cloudrest's motif reward system wasn't perfect.

1. Rewarding no fragments for normal +0/1/2 was too harsh and punishing for mainstream players (the ZOS dev team, as people may recall, struggled and could not clear normal +3 when they ran Cloudrest on ESO Live), particularly since +3 already had the advantage of being much faster to clear.
2. The additional binding item was an unnecessary and cumbersome level of complexity (it also meant that people running Cloudrest on normal were left with an excess of bindings that quickly grew to be worthless in the market, and people consistently clearing vet +3 had a shortage of bindings and had to buy them--while their cost was cheap to the point of triviality, it was an extra needless hassle).

Specifically, frustration over the first point turned into frustration with the system as a whole, even though the use of fragments was a definite improvement.

Please. Don't make the same mistake with Refabricated that you did with Sunspire. Use fragments.
