Just gonna say it: I'm nostalgic for the days when IC was unpopular and super-niche. Giving players PVE objectives that other players can interfere with was not a great idea. But the way it used to be, the rare encounter with an enemy NPC kept things interesting, creating a constant sense of danger but without making things too frustrating.

A really hopping IC is a completely different experience. It's probably greater enjoyment for a greater number of people, so it's totally selfish of me to be against it. But it's less fun for me, so there we are.

So what you're saying is you wish IC had 4+ campaigns, like it used to, instead of 2.
That doesn't have anything to do with it becoming free, though.
ZOS can always add more campaigns/instances, and they usually do during IC Anniversary and Midyear Mayhem PvP events.

Thanks. I have read dozens of threads in the past about IC and the Tel Var Stone system, many active/popular IC players and Tel Var farmers always call for more things to use Tel Var Stones on. As it stands, currently, there are very few options, and not many good choices, to use Tel Var with (compared to gold and Alliance Points).
I think the implementation of an Imperial City weekend Golden Vendor would greatly increase regular player activity in the Imperial City. Players need a reason to go to IC and farm TV. Tel Var in and of itself is not enough of a compelling reason, regardless if one loses Tel Var Stones or not, when there are not that many useful things to purchase with Tel Var Stones.
Tel Var Stones are not a very good currency compared to Alliance Points and Gold. There is not enough that one can do with Tel Var Stones for it to be as useful and sought after as Alliance Points and Gold.
Want Imperial City to be more active, permanently? Then Tel Var Stones need to be made more valuable by increasing their purchasing power. That's my game-designer's eye input, anyways.
What would be the harm in allowing players to purchase monster helms and overland/dungeon sets with Tel Var Stones, anyway? It's just another option. Players can already use AP and gold, which are both far easier to get.

Especially if the game's bugs and lag and all that are involved. It's frustrating to lose everything.

Game needs to be more accessible. Even if they don't go free, dungeon or zone dlcs over 2 years old need to go into the reduced price category permanently,or split them into cheaper bundled packages.

But just another dlc people have paid for in the past and now they're giving it for free. Never a good move imo.

Let's say you paid for early access to fresh brand new shiny thing, now when it got old others may play with it a bit to.

    Awesome change!

even people with access there already are avoiding it. It's no fun to lose half of one hour worth of farming in three seconds. Maybe if they reduce the losing to 15%, that'd be better

It's just more challenging than usual PvE but its also more rewarding. Yesterday by playing there for a 2,5h I have brought to base 40-50k tel vars and these are rookie numbers cause I was PvPing a lot and died twice with 7k on my inv (being lazy is not very good approach there).

The "problem" with IC is that it's not casual friendly, dying there hurts and you can die there very easy though its not as easy as it used to be. I remember my first days there when trash mobs could anihilate you in seconds.

When you get used to IC it becames really addicting ;)

This is going to be 'great', new players getting (repeatedly) ganked, t-bagged, and rage quitting. :/

Still not going to IC, even they pay me Crowns for it.

Yeah, it either needs to be reduced - but 15% is too low IMO, maybe 25% or so - and/or there needs to be a mechanic that caps telvar gains from player kills depending on how much telvar the attacker is carrying.

It could (should???) be tied to telvar multiplier. For example:
    • 1x telvar multiplier - you get 10% of what the victim was carrying,
    • 2x multiplier - you get 20%,
    • 3x - you get 30%,
    • 4x - 40%

A lot of hate for IC but its the only reason I sitll play this game. The guild I am part of has IC runs every weekend and its the only reason I am in that guild. Its the only place I make gold. It provides the best lag free PVP experience. Occasionally zerg vs zerg but more often small scale groups or ganking. The dungeons are good and the sewers has center event which I still go and solo from time to time for the challenge and telvar has provided a lot of fun. Also a couple great spots for making gold/telvar and leveling up in the sewers but people like me will occasionally roll through there and take half your stones.

in a way i don't want to get it even for free, because i won't be able to pug vet dungeons anymore (right now i don't have eso+). Getting IC will add those harder dungeons to my queue, which make my daily play harder when they chance to launch on my random dungeon join

IC does not add much value to ESO+.

Plus, they've kept increasing the benefits of ESO+. The monthly stipend of crowns has gone up. The number of DLCs you've gotten access to has gone up [with each new DLC that's been released]. You get special deals in the Crown Store. So now one of the oldest DLCs is going to be made available for free and you think it has tanked the value of ESO+?

That's probably why you like it then. Because you run it with a guild. Most of the people in this thread I see praising the zone are part of PvP guilds who actively participate in the zone. So they have back up and aren't made into easy prey for every opportunistic ganker or zerg that wanders their way.

For soloers though - or even small groups - it can be a hellish experience where you're routinely and unfairly slaughtered with the combined pleasure of watching your stones vanish and line the pockets of some jerk who is currently tea bagging your dead face. In fairness to your post - you do allude to this.

I just think it's important newer players understand what they are getting themselves in for. I strongly urge those who have never gone to Imperial City before and who are looking forward to this event to consider looking for a group or a guild to do the event with. You'll have a better time if you do believe me.

ESO is an MMORPG. Like PvP? Join a guild, socialize, and learn to play nicely with others.
Dislike PvP? Don't ever enter Cyrodiil, The Imperial City, or Battlegrounds.

This thread isn't about morals and ethics and values and opinions of what one thinks IC PvPvE is or should be.
Besides, everyone on each platform, megaserver, faction, and time zone / time of day will all have their own unique experience.
