I have 15 Chars, 5 AD, 5 DC, 5 EP. TWO LOCKED 30 Day Campaigns!?!?

What was needed was 1 account per 'server'/team (could even name them after ad ep or dc areas for the fanboys out there). And server would only apply for cyrodiil, not open pve for all the one tam fan boys).

And all matchups are 1 week, and server progression is determined server performance. So you never fight the same people week in week out. Has a competition feel.

-An then all your character can be used because bad coding wont be in the way
-Lag could be controlled because server populations would be set prior to joining a server not during play when you decide to flood the winning team. (Cp was never the issue with ms, do kid youself).
-the ONLY people that be sad by this would be the ones the exploit or troll. Because "i want to play with friends" everyone already does that just the solo exploiters and trolls that love to switich trams half way through a fight.. And we all know zenimax supports trolling in all forms.

This wont happen because zenimax is unable to make content actually tangible an exciting.

Why faction lock the 30-day campaigns instead of 7-day?

I for one am completely happy with this change. I have only ever played one faction. Win win for me! I get why people are upset, but at the same time with amount of faction hopping going on in Vivec NA it’s a welcome
change. It gives the concept of AvA meaning. I know some of you aren’t into the faction lock, but get rekt by logistics. You can always hop into BG with your buds. Or PvE wit your buddies.

Easy fix. A “one time” alliance change token for each character.

Not easy at all. ZoS has stated such on several occasions. It might be nigh impossible without a major overhaul of the game.

If it were easy, Alliance Change tokens would have been in the Crown Store years ago, and the parking lot at ZoS HQ would be full of Ferraris and Lamborghinis.

Personally I am not too affected since I am loyal to the Pact, but sucks for those who do not benefit from any race any alliance.

    Agree.

Any Race Any Alliance should have been made base game four years ago.

I don't care if you're pro faction lock, or against it. But this SUCKS. I can no longer get my monthly allotment of transmutes. I can play 5 toons in a No CP campaign, and 5 in a CP, but I cannot play the other alliance AT ALL?!?

When I started this game I didn't have Any Race Any Alliance yet, I picked races based on the meta at the time, and I got stuck with alliances I don't necessarily enjoy. But these are my main toons.

So I made alternate toons on the alliances I liked, so I could play with my friends, but now my mains are effectively locked out of Cyrodil.

The 7 day campaign is a friggin joke.

Please explain to me why this makes any sense?!?

If all you want is stones, play the 7 day 4 times....its not hard. And riddle me this, is Cyrodiil being packed full of people just for stones a good thing for quality PvP anyway? I digress...

If players changed their behaviour, the change curve would be alot shallower. The change has many benefits and folks can do what they were with some adaption.
    Adapt.

If by "adapt" you mean "do something that takes much longer for a lesser reward", then sure ... "adapt".

The 30-day Transmute farm is lucrative because you can get 50 Transmutes with like ~30 minutes of playtime. Doing the same thing in the 7-day campaigns will net you 40 Transmutes in ~120 minutes of playtime spread out over the course of 4 weeks. So you're putting in 4 times the effort and getting 80% of the reward.

Do keep in mind that many of the people in favor of the faction locks are the players who actually PVP on those campaigns, night after night, week after week. That's not to say that there aren't regular PVPers who oppose it as well, but rather to point out that the ability of non-regular PVPers to show up once a month, earn 25k AP on 15 multifaction characters and never come back until next month is really not who ZOS made this change for.

If you choose to move some of your characters to the 7 day campaign and play/repair once a week, great!

If you don't and you quit PVP on your other characters, why should ZOS care?
    A. Transmute stones are supposed to be a last resort.
    B. Players farming 25k AP a month per character for transmute stones were doing a little bit for their alliance(s), but the regular PVPers who make the biggest difference in the campaign score will carry on like usual.

That's fine but doesn't have anything to do with what I said.

My point is simply that the condescending "durr durr just adapt" comments are ridiculous because there really is no adapting. This was a straight nerf to Transmute farming.

Also, who says Transmutation is supposed to be a "last resort"? I don't think that's how it plays out in practice at all. For items which aren't easily farmed, Transmutation is the first choice for most people I know. People don't farm AY daggers or BSW infernos for the right trait; they farm for any trait and plan on transmuting.

But regardless, I acknowledge that there's a divide between interests here. I could not possibly care less about what faction wins a Cyrodiil campaign so the idea of faction locking is nothing but an inconvenience for me. However, I do understand that people who take that mess seriously have a different opinion on the matter.

Here's the thing, though: it's pretty clear to me that ZOS intentionally made Transmute farming a carrot on a stick to get people into Cyrodiil. It is by far the most efficient way to farm crystals. For spending the equivalent amount of time in PvE (say, by doing Maelstrom) you get 4 Transmutes ... versus 50 for the same effort in Cyrodiil.

I agree with you on the divide in interests. In this thread, there's definitely a divide between the players who actually care about the PVP campaigns and the players who just want to use them as farming zones for transmutation. I'd argue that there's a divide in interests between those farming players and the Devs as well. The Devs didn't intend for transmutation to be the primary way of acquiring your ideal trait (with the exception of Jewelry-crafting, which is entirely optional, since no content in the game actually requires it). While they certainly use transmutation stones to encourage people to play different types of content, I'm not too surprised to see them expecting multifaction players to put in more effort if they want the same number of stones, especially since the faction locks are in part to reduce the sort of farming for AP that's been a problem.

Also, I love it when someone asks me to cite my sources! Its a great opportunity for me to make sure I'm not just repeating stuff others have said. I had to look back to find ZOS' comments on transmutation, and here's what I found about their intent.

    https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/373097/pts-patch-notes-v3-2-1
    Transmutation
    Developer Comments:
The goal of Transmutation is to provide you with a way to acquire your ideal traits in a way which is less dependent on RNG, without trivializing changing equipment traits or making it incredibly time consuming. The primary sources of Transmute Crystals are guaranteed drops from content you're likely already doing to collect your gear, such as Pledges, the group finder daily random Dungeon, Trial weekly quests, Veteran arena completions, and end of campaign PvP rewards.

Though it was also rather interesting for me to see that during the PTS ZOS increased the crystal drops from various activities, increased the amount of crystals required from 40 to 50, and had to make it so that Transmute Geodes didn't stack because of a bug.

    As well as: https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/comment/4505195#Comment_4505195
The new Transmutation system is intended as a way to assist you in obtaining the trait you desire for your gear as you play, but not be the primary way to obtain it. You'll obtain Transmutation Crystals as you play the content you're already participating in, but it isn't meant to be something you get immediately. We want you to feel like you have a way to eventually get the trait you want.

I'd argue that intent hasn't changed much, even with jewelry crafting, which actually serves as an excellent sink for using up excess transmute stones acquired by trial runners and PVPers.

Because that's the one where winning the campaign actually requires working as faction over a long time to pull off the win, and gives comparatively decent rewards for the effort?

Not tokens, but have a one time change baked into rewards for cadwell's gold. That way, all the issues with the harbourage and alliance quest lines are solved because you've already completed them on that toon. I don't want to see them in the crownstore or anything than more than once per toon.

Would have be way more simple to remove Faction choice at char creation and put them as a choice for the whole account when you register as a campaign, so all your char (and friend) can be in the same Faction.

I couldn’t agree with this more, I have been all AD until recently, for no reason other than I was missing out on playing with my friends ect. So now I’ve got 13 AD 1 DC 1 EP. So if I want any sort of end of campaign rewards yellows my obvious choice right? It absolutely sucks. Isn’t the whole purpose of this game to play with your friends ect and have fun? This whole faction locking isn’t going to get rid of the “problems” that everyone is hoping for. I understand it but I think it’s going to do very little to stop trolling ect. Guess we will just see how long it lasts.

I do PVE and PVP content on 15 toons, and I try to keep great gear options for all of them.
HOWEVER. Every 2 or 3 months I have to trait change 20+ weapons due to the patches.

When I started this game Nirn/Sharp was the way to go, and you have to transmute to nirn.
    Then everything switched to infused
So i transmuted every weapon i had to infused.
Now... every 1 handed wep that I have infused is a paperweight until I transmute it.

That's just one of the innumerable ways I find myself using hundreds of transmutes each month.

Transmutes aside, having a third of your toons locked out of the real PVP, is painful. The 7 day campaigns are awful, you can't get groups, everything moves so slowly, or you get gated right to base, and cannot find anyone in your alliance to take back the keeps at all.

It might not be to troll but what a lot of people have been doing is getting on their DC toons and taking the entire map, then they switch to their ep toons and retake the entire map, then go to ad and take the map again all with friends/guildies.

This makes it not fun unless you are in that crowd faction hoping and it also gives this crowd doing it huge amounts of ap.
