I do want to say that, while I did run through all of Elsweyr on the PTS chasing down books, I don't think I'll do the same with Dragonhold. I did not predict that, or did not predict how much, doing that would hinder my desire to actually run through that content on Live. I've still only done two or three of Elsweyr's quests on any of my toons. I don't really want that again.

Hells, I thought you did that AFTER playing on live. That's a reason I don't go on PTS... Well, other than not having space on hard drive...
Letter for Vanus- I searched all over Bankgorai Garrison and did not see it. @MreeBiPolar Maybe support needs to double check and/or be more specific. Why would it be there in the first place?

No idea... But they were quite insistent even when I asked if they are sure and are not confusing it with something else.

Nnnnope! I ran through every single Elsweyr quest in the first two or three weeks of PTS trying to double check books and found all but three or four (one of which was Summons but, having done the prologue the other way, through the in-game questgiver, I hadn't put two and two together). I even made a personal spreadsheet with books and location data!

If they're so insistent, I'd request a picture or coordinate data. If it's there, they can prove it. Hopefully, it's not one that disappears when the area changes after you do the quest. That'd be unfortunate. Not to mention tedious to verify.

What I find perplexing is that there still isn't a single UESP Log entry recording it there. If it was there, doesn't it stand to reason someone would've seen it by now?

@virtus753 I totally understand the feeling of futility. But you've been doing amazingly answering folks' questions and showing them where books are. We've explained to ZOS "Hey, these are the books that are bugged and this is what's going on with them." And, at the end of the day, that's all you can do. The rest's on them.

Yeah... Unfortunately, they refuse to provide a more specific location. Even descriptively (where in the garrison), so I think they are actually mistaken. After all, it's the support team, not devs/whoever, and working in support myself, I know what kind of cringeworthy (censored) front-line agents spew on a regular basis... And that they very often don't have access to proper resources themselves, either, especially for not the typical stuff.

Added post-quest copies of the following books:
    Kinlady's Letter
    Krisandra Edrald's Journal, Vol 1
    Krisandra Edrald's Journal, Vol 2
    Krisandra Edrald's Journal, Vol 3
    Note to Vanus
    Treaty of Khenarthi's Roost

    Fresh from Gina's patch notes!

EDIT: Some notes on these locations-

Edrald's Journals are all on a table inside the main house.
The Note to Vanus is in the northern circular courtyard in central Skywatch in Auridon (it's on a bench)
The Treaty is on the table inside the Mistral Treasury

I have not yet been able to locate the Kinlady's Letter post-quest, despite searching through most of Shimmerene, particularly inside the Monastery. Pondering where else to look, though.

The thing that concerns me about when they place post quest locations for previously bugged books is that they sometimes remove said books from people who did actually get the books forcing them to find them again. Curious if that’s going to be the case here.

@znrk Well, according to the patch notes, Kinlady's Letter has been given a post-quest location in the PTS. After another hour and more searching for it today, I still can't for the life of me tell you where it is, but it's supposedly somewhere in the game.

Maybe @ZOS_GinaBruno could ask the person who passed her that patch note to give us some indication of where the post-quest location is? I don't think it's in any accessible areas related to the Queen's Decree quest and, after going on a bloody search throughout the city, I'm skeptical that it's in Shimmerene or nearby areas. The issue with this being that, once you omit the areas related to its associated quest, the world is super massive and the book is not.

On a related note, hunting for this book did reveal another previously-unconsidered-yet-also-bugged book connected to this quest. The List of Sequestered Guests is also located in the Monastery of Serene Harmony as a quest objective for the "Queen's Decree" quest, and also disappears once a player or group member interacts with it.

Anybody know how/where to get Serum Infusion Report in Summerset after the quest? I've grouped with somebody who had the quest active AND have gotten back into the building by jumping over some rocks but I can't find the book.

@OtisMiller While it's been a long time since I've done that quest, checking around the area and searching the Internet seems to suggest that it should be in one of the bookcases (one of the ones listed as "Conservatory Files," probably). However, because it's associated with a quest objective, it's possible, even likely, that it disappears after someone in a group interacts with it and is one of Summerset's many bugged quest books.

It's good that grouping works to get back into the tombs, but disappointing that they backslid in regard to including post-quest copies of the books. Given grouping-related issues with collecting quest books in the past, I can foresee at least one issue that's going to pop up with the Final Letter of Sergeant Berarah. Were I to make a suggestion, it would be to put the copies within the Valley of Blades, as you can get there via the white horse outside Davon's Watch, even after finishing the prologue, and it's out of the way and only associated with this quest line. That way, if anything goes wrong or someone misses a book, they can go there to get it. I do find it particularly vexing that when they make progress in one area (having all of the quest books in the library when the prologue comes out), they slip up in another (including post-quest copies). It feels a bit like whack-a-mole or trying to plug leaks with your fingers.

All I can say is to make sure to check the epitaphs and read the letters in the dragon's lair so you don't miss anything. Oh. And start the quest through the Crown Store Item and read it before progressing with the quest.

Regarding the other books you seek, Kud-Nakal has issues previously mentioned in the thread (namely, that it's a quest-related book that they didn't add to the library until last patch while at the same time not giving us a post-quest location for those who'd already done that quest). Enzamir's Note is hidden in the Valley of Blades.
Up the stairs leading out of the valley on the north side, take a right at the first landing, and use the two grapple points. You'll find it next to Sai's sword.

Supplement: “Letter to Marillan” can bug out. It’s supposed to be in one of the bookshelves in the Dark Water Temple. I suspect I progressed too fast and skipped this step of the quest. Now it can’t be found in any of the shelves no more for me.

Edit: I was not grouped with anyone and there seems no post-quest location either.

Another supplement: I stand corrected. The “Letter to Marillan” actually has a post-quest location above the staples – like all the others. But it seems a game restart was necessary to make it appear.

I can confirm that many of the books from the prologue are located in the room above the Valley of Blades Stables (with the Letter to Marillan accessible via one of the bookshelves in that room). So ZOS did take care of that front, which is outstanding.

That said, I've been trying to access Searching for the Horn of Ja'darri, Part 3 for the past few minutes (I think it's one of the four papers on the table with the other 2 parts and the rubbing of the tombstone), but have had no success, probably because its interactable area is being overlapped by the other 3 books on the table.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm also not seeing the Sealed Letter (the entry that's added when you read the quest-starter item for the prologue) or Kasura's Notes located there (or anywhere else associated with the quest?). I've already heard of at least one person having an issue with the Sealed Letter not being added to their library properly, so maybe this should be looked at?

For me, the Sealed Letter unlocked as soon as I "purchased" the crown store item. I didn't even have to read the letter, and reading it did nothing. If you didn't pick up the quest from the Crown Store, it could well be bugged. If you got it from the Crown Store and it still didn't add the lore library entry, that's even worse.

I see the same problem with Searching for the Horn of Ja'darri, Part 3. They should have checked to make sure it was targetable on that table.

I've been struggling also with Enzamir's Note, although I can't get that one at all. Upon returning at the end of the second quest, I discovered that once you turn in the second quest, losing the grappling hook as a quest item, several of the poles nearest the waterfall that supposedly leads to Enzamir's Note are no longer targetable. While you do get the hook back as a synergy, the synergy just doesn't appear at all on these specific poles (I count four - two off the side of the road, and two by the falls), even though you can get to just a few feet away from one of them.

If they tried to design it so as to lock out the majority of characters from reaching it, they certainly succeeded. Really puts a damper on the new grappling mechanic.

ETA: I was originally looking in the wrong spot for Enzamir's Note, but the two poles to get to it are also bugged. That's six poles you can't use after you turn in the quest item version of the grappling hook (bow).

I am very lucky to have a friend with Warden's Frozen Gate.

Just missing three books myself now.

Summerset Scrolls: Pearl Research Notes, Log 3
Lore of Murkmire: A Guide to Gathering Frogs
Hearts and Flowers: For My Beloved Kud-Nakal

It seems like many are missing For My Beloved due to its recent inclusion into the Lore Library. Would anyone know of post quest locations for the other two?

    Thank you in advance.

I can confirm that the poles to get up to Enzamir's Note no longer work after the quest. However, if you look for the rock formation pictured below, you can go up to the right and jump up (it may take a bit to get the jump right over the slope) to the area where the book is.

Y'know, just in case you don't have a pocket warden...

@lonewolf26 Pearl Research Notes is a Summerset quest-connected book mentioned in the first post (it's bugged), and you're correct about Kud-Nakal.

    Hey.

    Notes and Memos:
A Plea for the Elder Scrolls.

I've located it to Temple of Mnem (got the one in DC and EP area), but I can only see the glowing light from the book, it seems to be glitched under the pedestal it's supposed to be on top of.

Tried logging out and back in, going into all different campaigns, nothing seems to works.

    Any tips?

I......got a bit of an issue with returning to the Valley of Blades. When I finished the 2nd quest (a few days ago) I remember going back and forth a bit with those horses without any problems but I can't find them anywhere. I've looked around Davon's Watch but there's nothing there for me. The weird thing is, when I decided to do it on my templar to figure out the location I traveled back using the horse as soon as I got access to the Valley of Blades (after the first hideout basically). Then, to my suprise there weren't any horses to take me back even tho there was both a quest marker for the quest and even another quest marker related to the main quest. Both just floating in the air without an actual thing to interact with. Ofc I can abandon the quest and do it again but this might explain why I cannot find the horses anymore on my sorc.

Worth mentioning both my sorc & templar are AD, tho I've searched around Vulkhen Guard too.

Edit: Ok, after some more traveling and relogging the horses actually show up now in all their locations. I wonder if it was some weird phasing behaviour that caused me to be in a 'shard' where they weren't spawned yet.

You can still get Enzamir's Note after the Prologue is finished.

In front of Davon's watch near the riding trainer is horse called "Peri". You can use him to travel back to The Valley of Blades

if you go the LEFT at the entrance to the valley of blades base, you get to the waterfall with 2 grappling points that lead to the Enzamir's note and a sword of Sai Sahan.
You can also get up there without the grappling weapon.
Go left when at the base of the waterfall you go left and use the path to the 1st level from there you can jump/climb the rocks to the 2nd level..
There you will find Enzamir's Note.

    Good luck.

Is Serum Infusion Report in Summerset have a post quest location yet? I've scaled the rock to get back inside the building both with AND without being grouped with somebody who has the quest and the book simply isn't there. Every other book can be found for that quest but this one.

In my experience, it helps to jump from right next to the rock formation to get up there, and to aim your cursor closer to the right hand side of the V in the rocks for the second jump.

The tombstone rubbing and several of the other books (Horn v3 is overshadowed, Letter from Kasura and Kasura's notes aren't there) are in the room above the stables. Grapple up to the building to the left, then to the tower in between, then to the doorway in the side of the stable building.

Right there with you on Kud-Nakal. It and Tome of the Undaunted are the only books I can't get right now. I also agree with you about the books in Dragonhold that didn't get added (I've only found two of the three you mentioned). The plus side (if there is a plus side) is that, at least with the two I've found (Southern Elsweyr Needs You and the Unsent Letter in the northern delve), there appeared to be a post-quest location for both books. So adding them to the library list shouldn't lead to a Kud-Nakal type situation.

    Notice how I said "shouldn't," not "won't."

List of Bugged Books Up-to-Date As of Patch: 5.0.7

With the other thread reaching its 57th page and with the approval of the previous thread’s author, who’s not had enough time lately to keep it updated, I’ve decided to create a new thread in order to keep track of those books which are bugged and require ZOS’s intervention to fix, and allow players to ask for help finding books they might be looking for. The ultimate goal of this thread is, with the help of the community of players and ZOS, to allow people to reach 100% Eidetic Memory completion on any character, regardless of alliance, provided they do necessary quests and have necessary chapters and DLC.

When it comes to Eidetic Memory books, there are several issues which typically cause a book to be unobtainable:

    1) The area they are in is only accessible during a quest (after the quest, or after a certain stage in the quest, interacting with the access door is greyed out and the area is inaccessible). Interacting with them is not required to progress the quest, and so they are very easy to miss.
    2) The book is a quest item. It starts the quest, can be read during the quest, or is placed in the inventory during a quest, but after the quest or after a certain stage, becomes inaccessible. Interacting with these books (thus giving the Eidetic Memory entry) is not required during the quest, and there is no post-quest location. In some cases, the book is placed into the inventory with no notice and removed at a later quest stage (sometimes as soon as you talk to the next person). These books MUST be read during that time period, as no post-quest location exists.
    3) As people progress through various quests, certain areas of the world change, depending on what quests are active and what might be happening in the area. In the process of this phasing, some of the books may disappear. If one doesn’t obtain that entry during the period when the book is active, there may not be another opportunity.
    4) The books are only obtainable within the Gate Camps of certain alliances. Access to these books is restricted only to members of one or two alliances. Fortunately, there are very few books like this, but copies of them need to be placed in areas accessible by members of the other alliances.

I want to give a special Thank You to Ayantir, Garkin, and Kyoma for keeping the LoreBooks addon up-to-date and to Mix for creating the last thread, keeping it updated as often as he was able, and giving me permission to make this one. I also want to thank all the amazing community members that have helped and continue to help fellow players find books and note which ones are bugged and in need of fixing. A huge thanks also goes to all those people at ZOS who have worked together to create this amazing world we play around in and all of the bits of lore we’re chasing after, and to those who take the time to run down and fix those pesky books that we report. With motif pages, Shalidor’s Library, and Eidetic Memory books, there are 4162 books currently (as of pre-Elsweyr) scattered throughout the world in PvP areas, in overland zones, throughout quests, in dungeons, trials, and arenas, and even randomly hidden within various bookcases - with more being added in every update – and players are talking about and actively working toward trying to collect them all. How amazing is that?

Regarding the Books of Torinaan and “Blessings of the Eight”
Within Torinaan in Auridon, connected to the area quest “Blessings of the Eight,” there are eleven books located within four shrine complexes, one to Magnus and Syrabane, one to Mara and Stendarr, one to Trinimac and Xarxes, and one to Anu and Y’ffre. Each deity has a book associated with it that has a copy located within its shrine room, and then there are three additional books, The Fires of Truth, Letter to the Aldarch and Brief Letter to the Aldarch. Note that, once a player cleanses both shrines within one of the complexes, the player loses access to that complex and the copies of the books within. Additionally, while Letter to the Aldarch, Brief Letter to the Aldarch, and The Fires of Truth receive locations in the overworld on the platform and steps surrounding the stairs down to the Shrine of Anu and Y’ffre, I was unable to locate similarly placed copies of the other books. However, based on the UESP log information, it would appear that these other books might be included in the pool of books accessed from bookshelves in the following zones.
Bones of the Forest (Shrine of Y’ffre): Coils of the Father (Shrine of Anu):
Gifts of Magnus (Shrine of Magnus): The Apprentices’ God (Shrine of Syrabane):
Eastmarch, Alik’r Desert, Malabal Tor, Summerset, Artaeum
    esoitem.uesp.net/viewlog.php?record=location&filter=bookId&filterid=215
The Heart of Love (Shrine of Mara):
    Shadowfen, Rivenspire, Greenshade, Coldharbour, Summerset
    esoitem.uesp.net/viewlog.php?record=location&filter=bookId&filterid=256
The Sounding Horn (Shrine of Stendarr):
Eastmarch, Alik’r Desert, Malabal Tor, Summerset*
    esoitem.uesp.net/viewlog.php?record=location&filter=bookId&filterid=1214
The Everscriven Tome (Shrine of Xarxes):
    Stonefalls, Glenumbra, Auridon, Bleakrock, Summerset
    esoitem.uesp.net/viewlog.php?record=location&filter=bookId&filterid=169
The Warrior’s Blade (Shrine of Trinimac): *While randomly checking bookshelves inside the Monastery of Serene Harmony in Shimmerene, I did come across a copy of The Sounding Horn, which seems to confirm that these books do appear in these pools. It’s not an optimal means of obtaining the books, as the bookshelf pools tend to be quite large and it’s unpredictable when you might obtain the book you’re looking for, but it is an option to find them. Another would be for ZOS to place them in the world within the above-ground area of Torinaan. One possible spot could be at approximately 41.31x25.90 (Auridon) on top of a large stone circle near the door to the Central Torinaan Shrine.

    List of Known Currently-Bugged Books

    - Treaty of Khenarthi's Roost : Handbills, Posters, and Decrees
This book does not have a location after completing the quest "Perils of Diplomacy" and is bugged for at least one individual who has mentioned it and requested it be added to the list.
    - Tome of the Undaunted : Handbills, Posters, and Decrees
This is the unsigned version that is located within the three Undaunted Enclaves. From repeated runthroughs of "Taking the Undaunted Pledge" with characters of multiple alliances, I have noticed that it appears this book is entirely unobtainable, as opposed to just being unobtainable after the quest. Before the quest, no interactions with any of the three Tomes are possible. During the first step of the quest, one signs the Undaunted Tome and, at any time afterward, the only copy that can be interacted with (the one in Grahtwood) only shows the Tome of the Undaunted (Signed). Possible solutions for this book include putting a version somewhere else at one of the enclaves, or even on the pedestal at one of the non-AD Undaunted Enclaves where the books cannot currently be interacted with after the quest, regardless of which alliance the character is in. Another option, since this is literally the same content as Tome of the Undaunted (signed) with the exception of the player’s signature, is to delete this book and just have the signed version be the only one, accessible after completing the associated quest
    - Krisandra Edrald's Journal Vol 1, 2, and 3 (3 separate books) : Personal Journals
Part of the quest "A Change of Heart" in Rivenspire at the Edrald Estate, these three books disappear from the world on interaction and are not available after the quest. As with other books, if the player is grouped with other people, this means that only one of them will be able to add the books to their library, which is a problem.
    - Note to Vanus : Rituals and Revelations
Part of the quest "Through a Veil Darkly" (the Summerset prologue), this book is found within the Old Wyrd Site portion of the Mines of Khuras during the quest. After the quest, the book disappears. No post-quest location has been found.
    - Kinlady's Letter : Summerset Scrolls
This book is present as part of "The Queen's Decree," but disappears once someone interacts with it. If the player is in a group and is not the person to interact with it, they are unable to add the book to their library. The simplest solution is to ensure that the book is present there once the quest is completed.
    - Illuminus : Summerset Scrolls
This books is part of the quest "Illusions of Grandeur" in the Illumination Academy, and is recovered and shelved as part of the quest (after which it disappears). No post-quest location seems to exist.
    - Naliara's Notes, Days 2, 8, 13, and 18; King's Haven Territory Record, King's Haven Trade Record, and King's Haven Scouting Record : Summerset Scrolls
These books are part of the quest "Savage Truths." During the quest, they are interacted with, the note pages disappear, and the plaques on which the records are kept become uninteractable. If a bug occurs where the books aren't added to the collection at this moment, it cannot be fixed. Thus, a post-quest location for them is needed.
    - Lirendel's Family Shrine : Summerset Scrolls
This only appears during the quest "A Duelist's Dilemma," on the statue in Tor-Hame-Khard. After the quest, the plaque is once again uninteractable. I'll need to do this quest again to remember where the duel takes place in order to be certain that a rubbing of it isn't left there, but I do not believe that will be the case.
    - For Captain Telomure; Pearl Research Notes, Log 3; Journal of Justiciar Avanaire : Summerset Scrolls
All three of these books are located in Tor-Hame-Khard during the quest "Pearls Before Traitors" and disappear on quest turn-in. As interaction with these is not required for the quest, and because at least one of these (Pearl Research Notes, Log 3 is off the beaten path, it makes it very easy for the player to miss their opportunity to retrieve these books for their collection. Therefore, it would be wise to either ensure that they remain present in their current locations after the quest is turned in or to give them a post-quest location, possibly outside the delve near Captain Telomure.
    - To the Villainous Manacar : Summerset Scrolls
This book is part of the quest "Bantering with Bandits" and is found in the winery near Alinor during the quest. After the quest, however, this book disappears. There is no post-quest location that I have been able to find.
    - Dead Water Riddle Fragment : Lore of Murkmire
While the Bright-Throat Fragment has been given a post-quest location, neither @virtus753 nor I have been able to locate a post-quest copy of this one. I have searched areas in and around the Dead-Water Village, the Tomb of Many Spears, and the Blackguard camps which the player and Jaxsik-Orrn sabotage, but have had no luck. This could simply be due to not looking in the right place, but it would still merit making sure that nothing has gone wrong with any fix (and maybe suggesting to us where we should look that is the right place).
    - Crumpled Nursery Rhyme : Elsweyr Epistles and Almanacs
This book is encountered as part of the quest "In Sickness and In Health" at the Anequina Aqueduct, and is even present after the quest. However, there is no entry for it in the Eidetic Memory Library. Perhaps it should be added?

Books Which Are Unobtainable to Members of Certain Alliances
Updated Instructions from Dortene, Information Request from Emeric : Military Order and Reports (AD, EP)
The only location of these two books is within the Southern High Rock Gate camp, meaning that anyone who isn’t DC is unable to obtain them. If a version were added within the gatehouses at the Gates of Alma Ruma or Ni-Mohk, it would allow members of both EP and AD to obtain them, albeit only after someone captures the keeps necessary to access the gate.

If you find any other bugged books, are able to locate a copy of the bugged books I listed, or have any questions about any other books, please don’t hesitate to say so, and post coordinates or map pictures if you are able, so that others are able to find them/ check it out more easily. The entire purpose of this is for the Community to help fellow players find the books they’re looking for, and it doesn’t work without y’all.

Additionally, if anyone at ZOS has any questions or suggestions on how I can make this more useful to y’all, please don’t hesitate to chime in. As evidenced by what I found with Orders to Halskar recently, even a lot of people running through an area can miss things or be mistaken about what’s causing it. If you have evidence that “Hey, I really don’t think this book is broken and I’m not sure why you all are saying it is,” even if it’s just to hint “Go look in this general location,” go ahead! If you have questions about something we’re seeing and want to know our quest status in an area, be my guest! If you just want to chat about the hunt or the books themselves, perfect! You folks are part of this as well, and if we can help y’all pinpoint issues going on with these books or confirm that no issue exists, that’s outstanding! My ultimate hope is that, at some point, we can completely remove the “Bugs” portion of the title, and make this thread (or a different iteration) solely about helping people locate those books they’re having trouble finding or chat about the ones they’ve found, so they can experience the story you’ve created to the fullest without having to wonder “Wait, have I completely missed out on getting that story on this toon?” Y’all and the work you do are an integral part of making that happen.

Anyway, that’s more than enough chatter from me for now. Happy hunting, folks, and I’ll see y’all in Tamriel!

Is there any news on these 3 lorebooks?
    - Pearl Research Notes Log 3
    - Dead Water Riddle Fragment.
    - A Plea for the Elder Scrolls (Temple of Mnem)

Another question: how often do the books in imperial city bookshelves change? Currently located the last 2 books I'm able to pick up, and they're both in IC bookshelves.

The last 5 are unobtainable at this point sadly...

As far as I'm aware, Dead-Water Riddle Fragment is still MIA. I've been unable to farm bookshelves as obsessively as I would like recently, but I will try again as soon as I can.

A Plea for the Elder Scrolls (Mnem) should be there in the temple - the only issue, from what I understand, is that it sometimes appears within the base of the pedestal, where it is not accessible. You should still see the golden glow down the bottom. If it's your own alliance, just run away out of draw distance and come back. That will fix it, usually within a try or two. If it's an enemy temple, the principle is the same; it's just much more annoying in practice. My routine was to walk up to the opening in the temple right next to the book (just out of range of the guards), hit rapids, then immediately take an invisibility potion and check the pedestal. You should have just long enough to make it out of range safely if the book's glitched. In that case, move out of draw distance and come back and try again.

In my experience, I could count on the IC books changing at least every other day, but I was never 100% sure when the books changed or how to prompt them to do so (if possible). I thought I remembered the books being different between IC campaigns (CP vs. non-CP) too, so perhaps that's worth checking. It might be possible to check if the books have changed over by looking at the ones in your alliance's sewer base. There are only a few, but it should be enough to see if there's any difference from the last time you were there.

Superb, thanks I'll give it a go if the gates are open, running EP on my main.

Have a total of 8 books left for 100% completion, 1 is a motif page, the pearl note, tome of undaunted unsigned, for my beloved kud nakal and dead water riddle.
Then there is 2 in imp city bookshelves (will check non cp shortly).
And last the plea for elder scrolls.

Will run both imp city non cp daily from now on and have a look at the temple trick.

    Thank you 😎👍

    This worked like a charm!
Went to the temple, book glowed from beneath the pedestal, rode away from temple, had it load in and book was on top.
    Thanks so much 😎👍
