(Weapon damage indicated in green tooltips)
MAGICKA races
like High Elf, Breton & Argonian
are best suited to damage dealt with Wooden Staves & Spells
Spell damage indicated in blue tooltips)
HYBRID races

If you have any questions, and trust me there will be, try search for answers in the many sources in the ESO Wikipedia's (section 28) or google "Alcast Beginners Guide"
Please put some effort in before expecting other players to help with advice, they will realize you haven't bothered to even obtain the very basic info you're supposed to know when starting out. All this takes a long time to explain and is an unfair ask of a person that has logged on to play, not help your lazy ass get educated on stuff that is super basic. This ESO FORUM is also a great source of information but be advised the info is only as good as the person who posts it so try to figure out who the trustworthy sources are first.
- Sixth
Some good beginner set-ups are:
1) High Elf Magica Templar or Sorcerer Damage Dealer (Flame Staff x 2)
2) Wood Elf Stamina Necromancer or Sorcerer Damage Dealer (2H Maul + Bow)
3) High Elf Magica Warden or Dragonknight Damage Dealer (Flame Staff+ Frost Staff)
4) Kahjiit Stamina Nightblade Damage Dealer (Bow + 2H Maul or Dual wield)

SECTION 1 - NEW PLAYER BASICS
********************************
********************************************
SECTION 2 - YOUR FIRST FOUR MAJOR CHOICES
********************************************
_____FIRST CHOICE_____
CHOOSE YOUR MAIN RESOURCE
It's simple, do you want to be a MAGICKA or STAMINA player?
MAGICKA PLAYERS use a staff and magic spells at range in light armor and stack shields, heals and use spells and speed to protect themselves. Macicka players can also use magicka abilities abilities at melee range.
A lightning staff is for damaging multiple targets and a flame staff is for single targets. Staves do Magic or Elemental damage (flame, frost and shock damage) and is indicated in Blue. Magicka damage is boosted by max magicka, spell damage; spell critical & spell penetration.
The basic buffs & debuffs are major breach, major sorcery, major & minor prophecy, major and minor resolve, minor berserk, minor force, off balance and minor vulnerability
The basic glyphs are:
weapons (infused trait) - increase spell damage (used with blokkade) and a flame glyph
armor (divine/pve or impenetrable/pvp) - magicka
jewelry (infused trait) - increase spell damage
STAMINA PLAYERS use a bow from distance and then gap-close to fight up close and personal with melee weapons of steel in medium armor and use block, roll dodge and shuffle to protect themselves.
Bow and metal weapons do Physical Damage indicated in Green. Physical damage is boosted by max stamina, weapon damage; weapon critical & physical penetration.
The basic buffs & debuffs are major & minor fracture, major & minor brutality, major savagery, major and minor resolve, minor berserk and minor force, off balance and minor vulnerability.
The basic glyphs are:
weapons (infused trait) - increase weapon damage (used with barrage) and a poison glyph
armor (divine/pve or impenetrable/pvp) - stamina
jewelry (infused trait) - increase weapon damage
PLAYERS ALSO BOOST their damage stats with special buff food, mundus stones, special armor, potions and passives from skill trees. Some skills gives you a boost just for having it slotted on your action bar. Playing together with certain classes provides automatic buffs to the group when they cast certain skills.
To see the different bonuses
use the link below and type the word "slotted" https://eso-skillbook.com
Choose your ALLIANCE & CLASS carefully as CLASS is PERMANENT and cannot be changed later on.
ALLIANCE can be changed with an ALLIANCE CHANGE TOKEN which will cost you money.
Start with a DD (Damage Dealer) and rather wait with your healer or tank until after Level 50/160
IF you are dead set on doing a healer or tank use one of their bars for damage.
RACE & CLASS SHOULD complement each other in terms of CLASS ABILITIES, CLASS PASSIVES & RACE PASSIVES
So if you have made your first choice then research which RACE is best suited for magicka or stamina play.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
Most classes have a magica or stamina morph
When you're researching go to eso skillbook and read up on the abilities, passives and skill trees that will boost the build you have in mind. https://eso-skillbook.com/
TYPICAL RACES:
MAGICKA - High Elf / Breton/ Argonian
STAMINA - Wood Elf / Redguard / Orc
HYBRID - Khajit / Dark Elf / Nord
TYPICAL CLASSES:
Damage Dealer - Sorcerer/Nightblade/Dragonknight/Necromancer/Templar
Tank - Dragonknight/ Warden/ Necromancer
Healer - Templar/Warden
Note: All classes have the option to be a damage dealer, heal and tank but some roles are preferred in end game.
HELPFUL:
BUY the ANY RACE ANY ALLIANCE bundle, you will thank me later.
Ask your friend or guild which faction they play in.
_____ THIRD CHOICE_____
GET TO 160 on your FIRST CHARACTER as a PRIORITY using crafted training gear and xp potions/scrolls. Note Read how to max out your experience gain in section 3e.
Create and level your strongest DD to CP160 and beyond as ALL NEW CHARACTERS will then START AT LEVEL 160 when they are level 1. This will make them much easier to play. Feel free to create other characters early to train their horses but don’t spend time on them, focus on 1 character. IF you are a brand new player start with a Magica DD (Damage Dealer) or Stamina DD (Damage Dealer). XP is gained MOSTLY via combat & quest completion and it is better to wait with other low DPS characters such as healers and tanks which normally have low damage until you hit 160. Once you get to level CP160 your gear does not level anymore and you should get new gear in the divines trait
_____ FORTH CHOICE_____

SECTION 4 - DOING DAMAGE in ESO
**********************************
We have all seen them and even reported them, those God builds that just doesn't seem to take any damage. How do we get enough damage to kill them?
Well god builds have merely applied their minds to how to mitigate your damage beyond what most players ever work toward. Here is an easy to understand explanation of how to increase your damage in ESO.
Back when I started playing as a Templar PvP healer I would take great delight in finishing off those unkillable Dragonknights Vampires & Werewolves by just applying Power of the light, elemental drain and heavy attack with a lightning staff of Infallible Aether with a Prismatic Glyph. As all ten players who were chasing them got their attacks multiplied with my buffs and debuffs the proc of the prismatic glyph at the end would finish them off.
_____HELPFUL COMBAT ADJUSTMENTS_____
ADJUST THE:
- CURSOR (aka AIM) from over your right shoulder to 2-3 cm directly above your head.
- FIELD OF VIEW to 130 degrees
- FRIENDLY/ENEMY/INTERACTIVE GLOWS.
- MINIMAP and heath/stam/magica/effect bars to ALWAYS SHOW
- ENEMY AOE COLOUR to PINK
- ULTIMATE to T
- ROLL DODGE to R
- DEATH RECAP to NUMPAD -
_____TYPES OF DAMAGE_____
STAMINA CLASSES do PHYSICAL, DISEASED and POISON damage and has a GREEN TOOLTIP
MAGICKA CLASSES do MAGICAL and ELEMENTAL (FLAME/SHOCK or FROST) damage and has a BLUE TOOLTIP
IMPORTANT: CHOOSE ONE TYPE OF DAMAGE and STACK everything into that specific type of damage as the damage will SCALE UP.
During the fight you want as MANY TYPES of attack, buff & debuffs as possible happening at the SAME TIME
Stamina and Magica characters have unique buffs & debuffs that should be up at all times.
- Light attack
- Heavy attack
- DOT (Damage over Time)
- AOE (Area of Affect)
- Ability attack
- Spammable attack
- Ultimate attack
- Execute attack
doing
Direct damage
Magic damage
Melee damage
Single Target damage
Area damage
Critical damage
_____HOW DOES DAMAGE WORK IN ESO_____
Before the attack Penetration & Debuffs are calculated against the targets pre-attack Mitigation & Defensive Buffs such as Shields, Resistances and Buffs.
then the (Attackers Flats Stats x Multipliers) are subtracted from the Targets Health
To do a successful attack, both group Group A (Flat Stat Resources) and Group B (Multipliers) must be high with ootimal Buffs and Debuffs.
Group A
Consist of values that are constant BEFORE the attack
such as your base resource pool value (IE Max Magica or Stamina) + 20% from CP + food + potion + mundus + race passives + gear set+ base magica/stam
Group B
Consist of values that are CAST and have an UPTIME
such as damage from a used ability + casting major & minor buffs & debuffs + critical strikes + damage multipliers like force/vulnerability/slayer etc.
_____HOW TO INCREASE YOUR DAMAGE in ESO_____
It's simple: Have HIGH FLAT STATS, HIGH MULTIPLIERS and EFFECTIVE BUFFS & DEBUFFS
How do I do that? Just get as many as possible bonuses that increase your flat stats and multipliers and make sure you stack them all into one specific type of damage.
So then STACK, STACK, STACK your bonuses to max out your 4 MAIN FLAT STATS and MULTIPLY, MULTIPLY, MULTIPLY those with ATTACK MULTIPLIERS!
The FLAT STATS for
- MACICKA CHARACTERS are MAX MAGICA, SPELL DAMAGE, SPELL CRITICAL & SPELL PENETRATION (Ideally 9K for PvE)
- STAMINA CHARACTERS are MAX STAMINA, WEAPON DAMAGE, WEAPON CRITICAL & PHYSICAL PENETRATION ((Ideally 9K for PvE)
Do this via gear, buffs, debuffs, passives, abilities and unique buffs from other players such as:
* Five of the same ARMOUR TYPE bonus
* Five of the same ARMOUR SET bonus (It is possible to equip two full five piece sets so you have double of this bonus)
* One of each ARMOR TYPE bonus. The undaunted passive gives you bonus Magicka/Health/Stamina if you run a 5/1/1 set
* SPECIAL GEAR BUFF & DEBUFFS IE All gear sets have bonus abilities that can increase your damage.
* A MONSTER Head & shoulder Set (2 piece bonus) or Special Weapon set (2 piece bonus) For beginners these are normally 3 piece agility or willpower sets
* A MUNDUS STONE bonus
* A FOOD BUFF bonus
* A POTION bonus
* INFUSED JEWELRY with DAMAGE GLYPHS
* A Max stam or Max magica bonus (Damage scales off max magica or max stamina and the more you have the more extra damage you do, this is why we put all attribute points into either stamina or magica.
* CRIT DAMAGE BONUS If you get a critical strike you get +50% extra damage (Determined by your Weapon or Spell Critical %)
* SECONDARY EFFECT BONUS (IE a “burning” enemy will take 20% extra flame damage from flame attacks)
* MAX CHAMPIONSHIP POINTS from your highest post level 160 character will be in effect on your newbie character from level 1
* Apply DAMAGE MULTIPLIER BUFFS like FORCE, BERSERK, SLAYER, VULNERABILITY
* SLOTTED ABILITY bonus
IE Inner Light (mages guild), Bound Aegis (Sorc) give extra max magica
* PASSIVE bonus LOTS of passives gives various bonuses when you use a certain ability or do things in a certain order.
* LIGHT ATTACK WEAVE when you add an extra light attack in-between every ability attack.
* EXECUTE ABILITIES when a target is below a certain level of health
* HEAVY ATTACK WEAVE by pressing an ability that will automatically go off when the heavy attack completes.
* ANIMATION CANCEL by using BASH or WEAPON SWAP
* SPECIAL BUFF FROM CERTAIN CLASSES
IE If your'e a magicka DD team up with a Templar that can give you minor sorcery by casting any of his/her Dawns Wrath abilities.
******************************
SECTION 5 - STAGES OF A FIGHT
******************************
A
BUFF
Buff your character to do more damage, survive better or have better resource sustain (Normally applied just before battle)
B
DEBUFF
Debuff the enemy to take more damage, do less damage to you or to make him easier to kill or weaken him (Normally applied just before the fight starts, in PvP a immobilisation forms part of the debuff)
C
APPLY DOTs
You apply a DOT (Damage over time) This is a form of attack that does damage over time to your enemy while you are also doing other forms of damage to it.
D
APPLY AOE's
Apply an AOE (Area of Effect) that does damage over time to enemies in an area.
E
SECONDARY STATUS EFFECTS
Achieve SECONDARY EFFECT STATUS as it gives a 20% damage bonus. IE an enemy that has been set on fire will take even more damage from flame effects.
F
LIGHT ATTACK WEAVE.
LIGHT ATTACKS are FREE and reduces the enemy MAGICA / STAMINA and HEALTH RESTORE & MAKES YOU GAIN ULTIMATE FASTER
You attack then wear the enemy down with a LIGHT ATTACK & SPAMMABLE ABILITY
(This is called LIGHT ATTACK WEAVING. LA’s take about 0.5 sec and a spammable ability about 1 sec. As the LA cancels the animation of the Ability Attack it is possible to do both attacks in 1 sec increasing your damage.)
G
REAPPLY BUFFs, DEBUFFS & DAMAGE MULTIPLIERS.
These normally run out at about 30 seconds so it might be time to reapply them. If its a long fight dont hold on to your ultimate to finish the enemy off, drop it at the start as you will have regenerated the ultimate by the end.
H
HEAVY ATTACK WEAVE
Switch to a HEAVY ATTACK WEAVE if you start running LOW on MAGICA or STAMINA. To heavy attack weave you hold the heavy attack button in while spamming one of the following DOT, HOT, AOE, SHIELD, HEAL. The ability will AUTOMATICALLY go off when the heavy attack is completed even though you are still holding the button down.
HEAVY ATTACKS ARE FREE AND RESTORE MAGICA and STAMINA
Another consideration for new players without a lot of CP is to keep your health, stamiina and magica close to full by not doing a light attack weave. Especially on bosses that do huge amounts of damage.
I
EXECUTE
BONUS DAMAGE KICKS IN WHEN THE ENEMY DROPS BELOW 50%/20%/5% HEALTH
Almost every class and weapon has an EXECUTE ABILITY which gives up to 300% MORE DAMAGE when the target is at LOW HEALTH. Find out what it is and use it to finish your targets off.
You can research the bloodthirsty trait and transmute jewelry to do more damage during the execute phase. 1 Jewelry item is enough.
J
_____SIMULTANEOUS ACTIONS______
Some attacks like applying ELEMENTAL DRAIN does not alert npc enemies so these can be applied just before launching a delayed attack that takes some time before hitting the enemy, and quickly follow up with a light attack and your main spammable. Light attacks delays the enemy's health, stam & magica restore and it is really effective to follow up with a dot & aoe.
Known Ground AoE bugs...
If you cast immediately from sprint, they can miscast;
if you have a slope in front of you, or LoS is obscured somehow, they can miscast
if you weave them, they can miscast
if you cancel via dodge roll or block, they can miscast
if you light attack before the cast animation completes, they can miscast
if you move before the target shrinks, they can miscast
if you bar swap before the target shrinks, they can miscast
you need to slow down your rotation, not weave, focus crosshair at ground below intended target to shorten the target resize time as workaround.
K
_____IF THE ENEMY ATTACKS_____
MITIGATE the DAMAGE by:
* Roll dodge away from an attack or out of enemy AOE
* Blocking to mitigate 50% of the damage
* Interrupting a channeled attack (The enemy will get a YELLOW GLOW)
* It is possible to BLOCK-HEAL and/or BLOCK-SHIELD WITHOUT DROPPING BLOCK
* Counter healing the damage
* High resistances
* Placing a damage mitigating effect on the enemy like Major MAIM or a weapon with a WEAKENING GLYPH
* Adding in some heavy armor (preferably the chest & legs)
* Using potions
* Adding in 1 or 2 health glyphs on the armor
L
_____COMBAT CUES_____
These can be switched on from Esc/settings/combat
Addons that help are: Combat Cloud & Code's Combat Alerts (Dungeon dodge-roll alert)
* RED (on the ground) - Dodgeroll out
* WHITE SWIRL (Around feet) - Immunity to CC or effects
* WHITE LINES (From body) - Block then counter attack with HA
* RED LINES (From head) - Interrupt the counter attack with HA
* YELLOW GLOW (Around body) - Block
* RED GLOW (Around body) - Interrupt
* CC (on you) - Break free
.
M
_____ SEE & MEASURE THE DAMAGE_____
Use a TARGET DUMMY to work out how your damage can be used in the best way. This is called working out a ROTATION where you combine all the skills and abilities to get the highest DPS possible. When you attack a target dummy it will print out your Damage Per Second when it dies to your chat window.
Try to get your DPS as high as possible. You can earn a FREE TARGET DUMMY called the Pre-Cursor from doing the quests that starts off in Clockwork city. You can also use target dummies at guild homes or even buy them from guild stores or the crown store.
Outgoing damage:
To see what types of damage so switch your combat settings to ALWAYS SHOW.
* DIRECT DAMAGE - White
* DAMAGE OVER TIME - Orange
* CRITICAL DAMAGE - Yellow
* PROCCED DAMAGE normally requires something to happen to ACTIVATE (Proc) the damage to occur.
Incoming damage:
You can adjust the damage colour to be more visible IE a light pink works well
The Shrendarr or Combat Metrics or Advanced UI are good addons to help with your DPS but they can cause lag in actual fights.
***************************
SECTION 6 - TRAINING GEAR
***************************

********************************
SECTION 11 - HOW TO MAKE GOLD
********************************
SOME SIMPLE TRADING RULES:
- Price it well or it won't sell!
- You have 30 trader slots, fill them!
- If it hasn't sold in three days it may be unwanted or over-priced
- Ask yourself: "Will I buy this item and at this price?"
- Rare and in-demand items sell at average value or slightly higher
- Common and in-demand items sell better at 10% below average
- Rare items should be improved to purple or gold (except jewelry)
- Average means that there is still at least 30% of sellers offering the same item below the "average" price.
- New DLC motifs will drop significantly in price with time unless they are extremely hard to obtain so sell it while it's hot!
- Event motifs, style pages & consumable collectives sell at 4 times their end value at the beginning of the event, so sell the first ones you get and buy at the end of the event.
- If everyone wants something, be the one to provide it.
_____MORE INFO_____

WARNINGS:
- Do proper research on sales before crafting furnishings
- Players manipulate MM by orchestrating extreme prices which over-inflates the price and makes the item look like a good buy
- NEVER just send a player an item via mail without activating the COD option
- If the COD fee is to high do the sale in person
- Invigorating is not a valuable trait
Anyone can make a character, but to make a GOOD character you will benefit greatly from making a research of the things that can increase your max resource/damage/critical & penetration.
Using abilities in a certain order or just slotting certain abilities allow their passives to turn you into a elite player that hits like a truck.

IE: A magicka sorcerer would for instance benefit greatly by using the following passive boosts:
1 - Slot INNER LIGHT from the MAGES GUILD which increase MAX MAGICKA
2 - Slot BOUND AEGIS from the SORCER CLASS TREE which increase MAX MAGICKA
3 - Wear 5 LIGHT ARMOUR which increase PENETRATION and many other MAGICKA boosts
4 - Wear 3 TYPES of ARMOUR (aka the 5L/1M/1H) setup which increase MAX MAGICA/HEALTH/STAMINA
5 - Slot as many as possible Sorcerer abilities on your attack bar
(There are many more)
*******************************
SECTION 14 - LEARN TO SURVIVE
*******************************
DEAD OFTEN? CHANGE YOUR CHEST and/or LEGS TO HEAVY INFUSED ARMOR with a HEALTH ENCHANT (or a PRISMATIC GLYPH)
**********************************
SECTION 15 - CERTIFY AS A CRAFTER
**********************************
In all 7 professions (Especially if you have ESO plus) as it is a quick and easy source of daily income with many bonuses like gold level improvement materials, survey maps with about 140 materials at one spot and sealed master writs which can be done for writ vouchers (A special type of currency to be used at Rolls Halaau - The master writ vendor.
***************************************************
SECTION 16 - RESET SKILLS, ATTRIBUTES & CP POINTS
***************************************************
RESPEC SKILLS & ATTRIBUTES AT A SHRINE OF AKATOSH for GOLD (No need to buy it with CROWNS)
Vampire & Werewolf bites should be available for free from your guildies. These can also be cured by a priest.
*********************************************
SECTION 17 - HOW TO PLAY WITHOUT ESO PLUS
**********************************************
If you're really into the game get ESO plus, it's the price of a movie and a meal and you’re spending way more recreational time on it.
HOWEVER IF finance is a problem or you just dont want ESO plus it is very possible to play without the ESO plus subscription.
The game is NOT on a pay to win model BUT you have to learn tips and tricks to manage your inventory.
How to play WITHOUT ESO PLUS:
* Get bag space to max
* Get bank space to max
* Level mount capacity to max
* Get the 8 storage chests (extra 360 slots) for your house.
Note you get a free house if you do the "Room to spare:" quest
(start the quest from the crown store.)
4 large chests (60 items)
4 small coffers (30 items)
They can be purchased with
master crafting writ vouchers
Tel Var Stones
Crown store
1 Free per character at level 18
Prices:
Large - 200 Writ Voucher / 200,000 Tel Var Stone / 2000 Crowns
Small - 100 Writ Voucher / 100,000 Tel Var Stone / 1000 Crowns
Note: If you're going to buy the chests using crowns then rather buy ESO plus and use the free 1500 crowns (per month) you get with ESO plus to buy the chests!
Unlike bank storage, ingredients stored in chests and coffers will not be used when crafting, and stored equipment will not appear in deconstruction, research, or upgrade windows at Crafting Stations.
* If you still need more space create a storage character as they start with 60 slots free.
* Create your own guild and get 9 other very casual players to join which gives you a guild bank of 500 more slots (do not offer to share the bank to avoid theft or misunderstandings)
* Buy an extra copy of One Tamriel when it goes on sale and mail yourself and/or create characters for storage & level 18 bonuses.
* Mail items to a mate and just have him/her return the mails which gives you 30 days extra storage in your mailbox
*Spend 5000 crowns on your personal merchant
*Collect everything as normal but sell the bag space fillers like provisioning items, trash, rune stones etc. immediately
*Focus ONLY on wood, clothing plants and ore as they stack.
*Sell flowers in stacks of 10 or create a flower keeper character to store large stacks (This is important if you do your own potions) Simply bank them and if your bank space becomes low withdraw them to your keeper.
Note: Personally I justify the expense as that it costs less than a meal and a movie per month and I spend way more time in game than any other form of entertainment.
*Please feel free to add your own personal solutions in the comments!
********************************************
SECTION 18 - MAX YOUR SOCIAL GUILD VALUE
********************************************
- Learn to use a price checker like TTC
- Learn how to sell using COD
- DONATE intricate items and learnables into the GUILD BANK
- SELL ITEMS in the GUILD STORE
- HELP OUT with price checks in GUILD CHAT
- Certify as crafter and supply regular consumables in the GUILD STORE
- Get other guildies to join you on quests, boss hunts, pledges, dailies
- INVITE players into your guild.
- Join GUILD EVENTS
- CRAFT for other guildies
- Use guild chat or discord/teamspeak to ask for advice
- Use the guild list for free teleports
**************************************************
SECTION 19 - CONTROL YOUR MAPS VIA ARROW KEYS
**************************************************
SET YOUR ARROW KEYS as follows:
UP ARROW - Minimap step zoom in
DOWN ARROW - Minimap step zoom out
RIGHT ARROW - 3rd Person step zoom in
LEFT ARROW – 3rd Person Step zoom out
**************************************
SECTION 20 - UNBIND REDUNDANT KEYS
**************************************
UNBIND the following keys which are not essential for play and only cause problems if you pres them by accident in a stressed situation like a boss fight or PvP:
* Toggle walk / run
* Always run
* Crown store
* Crown crates
* Championship Points
***************************************************
SECTION 21 - EXPLORE THE NICHE ACTIVITIES OF ESO
****************************************************
**************************************
SECTION 23 - USE YOUR CROWNS WISELY
**************************************
First CROWN STORE PURCHASE should be THE MERCHANT then ANY RACE ANY ALLIANCE then THE BANKER
Non ESO plus users should buy in this order:
ELSWEYR, THE MERCHANT, ANY RACE ANY ALLIANCE, GUILDS & GLORY and then any other DLC they like.
Note if you make gold buying DLC does not cost you money as you can exchange your gold for a crown gift from another player.
********************************************
SECTION 24 - AVOID BECOMING TOXIC PLAYER
********************************************
We all know them, players who are sarcastic/mocking/negative/rude/inconsiderate. These may be just characters on your screen but there are real people with real feelings controlling them. Think of the rejection a player feels before you just kick someone out of a group or a dungeon. If they are clearly out of their depth, try to carry them and whisper advice. They will be extremely grateful in most cases.
We once went to help a newbie through City of Ash II, he had been stuck there for almost 5 hrs and scores of players came and left. Eventually we came in with 3 strong vets, completed the dungeon and gave him our helmets so that he ended up with 4 monster masks instead of 1.
*****************************
SECTION 25 - ENJOY THE GAME
*****************************
Last and most important...ENJOY what you do! This is after all, a beautifully designed and complex game that you will never get bored of exactly because nothing is handed to you on a plate. So enjoy what you’re doing in moment and try to be less end goal focused! And remember death is not the end!

Tx for the advice, thing is I dont know how
Put [/spoiler] at the end of the passage you're wanting to hide, and [.spoiler] at the beginning without the period.

Use two sets of square brackets [] around the word spoiler in the first set in front of the first stuff you need to hide; and the word /spoiler (yes, with the forward slash in front) in the second set of brackets at the end of the stuff you need to hide.
Yeah, that's a crap explanation, because you can't just "example" it as the forum software "does" what you post.... So if I did the actual.... you wouldn't see anything.
Now, that said, at the very bottom of the posting pane, you can see "You can use BBCode in your post." BBCode within that statement is a link. Click on it, and you will probably see a better explanation of how to spoiler something.

Recommending 5 Kagrenacs to beginners -- for what kind of gameplay?
Recommending 6-8 trait crafted sets -- how do you envision them getting them?
Firstly - thanks for reading and thanks for asking:
I forgot that I'm going to have to justify many things but believe me I am not married to any of the points to such an extent that I will not gladly update it with better info or protocol if any comes to light after interrogation by collective knowledge of the the community.
The set in question:
Kagrenac's Hope
LEVEL 50 - CP 160
Type Craftable
Set bonus
(2 items) Adds 1096 Maximum Magicka
(3 items) Adds 129 Magicka Recovery
(4 items) Adds 1206 Maximum Health
(5 items) Adds 222 Spell Damage & Decreases the time it takes to resurrect an ally by 25%. When you successfully resurrect an ally, you restore 1720 Magicka.
I prefer beginners, IE level 10-160, WEARING Kag's with a TRAINING trait for the following reasons:
1) It's craftable so armour can be crafted in it's ideal armor traits for a light armor user (Heavy chest, Med Hands and the rest light)
2) It's core bonuses boost all the stats that are core to a magicka user and especially 2 things that a new (non CP) player encounters a lot low health, dead buddies and being out of magicka.
3) The 6-8 trait sets are crafted for them by a crafter within the guild.
4) The kind of gameplay is anything a newbie would get up to level to 160. (Had a newbie do vCoA1 for his IG MS and died quite a bit, afterward I asked him what gear he was running. Turned out he was playing with a white level 30 set I had crafted for him waaay back. lol)
5) The idea behind your first level 10 set is that you run it to about level 30 after which they supply the matts to upgrade the set.
6) By this time the new player will have researched at least 2-3 traits and they will be able to craft their own set using
5pc Initiate Axiom (especially relevant for sorc who use mundo class skills)
5pc Seducer
2pc Magicka jewelry set from any dolmen
Please see POINT 9 in the guide:
9. CRAFT YOUR OWN GEAR EARLY ON!
_____RESEARCH THE RIGHT THINGS_____
Follow these suggestions and you will be able to craft a 2 full bonus sets within one week! You need to research gear traits to craft your own gear. Set stations unlock according to the amount of traits you have researched per item.
IT IS IMPORTANT THAT YOU DO NOT JUST RESEARCH ANY RANDOM AVAILABLE ITEM.
_____MAGICA USERS_____
Research TRAINING & DIVINE on all LIGHT GEAR FIRST
Research INFUSED & SHARPENED & NIRHONED on their LIGHTNING & FLAME STAFF First
Research TRAINING, DIVINE & INFUSED on HEAVY CHEST; HEAD & LEGS GEAR FIRST
_____FULL CRAFTABLE SETS BY A NEW PLAYER_____
Research items either picked up, bought or crafted by fellow guildies.
_____MAGICA CHARACTER (Low traits required) _____
Five piece INITIATE AXIOM (2 trait set)
- Lightning Staff (infused trait with flame glyph)
- Flame Staff (infused trait with Magic Damage/Magica restore glyph)
- Heavy Chest (training trait with Max Magica glyph)
- Heavy Legs (training trait with Max Magica glyph) (or head or shoulders or feet)
- Light Arms (training trait with Max Magica glyph)
Note: we use 5L 2H until the player has levelled to the first undaunted passive where wearing 5/1/1 becomes beneficial.
Five piece ARMOR OF THE SEDUCER (3 trait set)
- Light Head (training trait with Max Magica glyph)
- Light Shoulders (training trait with Max Magica glyph)
- Light Waist (training trait with Max Magica glyph)
- Light Feet (training trait with Max Magica glyph)
- Necklace in Arcane (Arcane trait with Spell damage glyph)
Two Withered hand rings from Alik'r dolmens
OR
Two Thorugs Pact crafted rings (Spell damage glyph) if you have a crafter available
Rather long winded but I attempted to answer as fully as possible to the pondering that went into the balance of the set with the needs of the newbie. I would glady welcome other options or opinions.
Haven't read it very thoroughly, and I don't necessarily agree with everything I read, but a guide is a just a guide, not a strict rule book, and this game being massive as it is, having a relatively concise lost of general tips is always good for those that are mostly ignorant still about the game. Not mandatory at all to follow everything in any guide, but being given a direction always helps. Same idea as a compass: if you wanna go north, but wanna take a NxNW route, you're still going north(sorta) anyway even if it takes a bit longer.
In my particular experience, two things I wish I knew early on are daily writs(do them!) And trait research (takes months and months to finish and it pays off).
__Other__
Learn to obtain damage multipliers like: BEZERK , FORCE and Secondary status effects IE: BURNING will greatly boost your DPS
Learn to animation cancel by working a 0.5s Light attack into a 1s Ability attack
Get your basic resource as high as possible as damage is a simple calculation of RESOURCES x MULTIPLIERS
Try to get your penetration to at least 9K
or just farm gear from dungeons, delves (waist & feet), dolmens(rings & neck), bosses (chest , legs weapon), public dungeons (weapons & shoulders), chests (everything)
Group A (Flat Stat Resources) x Group B (Multipliers)
Group A
IE: Base resource pool value (IE Max Magica or Stamina) + 20% from CP + food + potion + mundus + race passives + gear set base magica/stam increase
Group B
IE: Damage from used ability + major & minor buffs + critical strikes + damage multipliers like force
EXAMPLE
Group A 1 x 10 Group B = 10 damage (no good)
Group A 6 x 5 Group B = 30 damage (better)
Thanks for putting this together. I found a lot of good tips, from changing my target position to where to get a free training dummy!
This style of guide reminds me of the old Diablo guides people put together. Key points and straight to the point. Not overly technical, a great quick reference guide! I hope it will withstand the test of time, and still be relevant in years to come.
For the training sets, I did wonder why you recommend heavy for chest and head. I thought heavy chest and legs would have been better?
It is a bit too focused on getting one toon to max level as fast as you can, but the majority of people seem to have that as their main goal sadly. A little more emphasis on enjoying the ride would be nice. Some of those side quests do give benefits like The Precursor.
Great job! Thanks for putting it together! This should replace the deprecated Zan’s guide.

Re heavy chest and head:
Armor ratings in order of strongest to weakest are:
1 - Chest
2 - Head, Shoulders, Feet, Legs
3 - Hands
4 - Waist
So pretty much Chest and any one from point 2
The guide is a labour of love and a continious work in progress and helps a lot when pointing new player's to a single source of info.

_____UNDERSTANDING HOW DAMAGE WORKS_____
Basic damage, Before mitigation and penetration debuff factors, consists of two groups which is Group A (Flat Stat Resources) x Group B (Multipliers)
Group A could consist of your base resource pool value (IE Max Magica or Stamina) + 20% from CP + food + potion + mundus + race passives + gear set+ base magica/stam
Group B could consist of your damage from a used ability + casting major & minor buffs & debuffs + critical strikes + damage multipliers like force
EXAMPLE: Group A 1 x 10 Group B = 10 damage (no good) BUT Group A 6 x 5 Group B = 30 damage (better)
_____HOW TO INCREASE YOUR DAMAGE in ESO_____
STACK, STACK, STACK your bonuses to max out your 4 MAIN STATS:
For
magicka characters it is MAX MAGICA, SPELL DAMAGE, SPELL CRITICAL & SPELL PENETRATION
or for
stamina charcters it is MAX STAMINA, WEAPON DAMAGE, WEAPON CRITICAL & PHYSICAL PENETRATION
* A MUNDUS STONE bonus
* A FOOD BUFF bonus
