Killing one the most iconic builds of the game.....

I didn’t want to go with the typical RIP format on the title since I find 90% of the crying posts about changes or class status at least amusing and irrelevant. But honestly I am impressed seeing so many posts today about the khadjits and the nord upcoming changes whilst there is almost zero references to dark elves.

I have been playing this game since 2015, got through many ups and downs with its continuous and often inexcusable changes to races, sets, mechanics etc and I mostly enjoy the pvp aspect of the game in any of the available modes

In my humble opinion there were always three iconic builds, class and race wise in pvp. I am not saying meta, broken or op because this is not what I am referring to. I am talking about signature builds that defined what pvp was/is with their encounters. Gave ESO pvp the vital parts of its identity if you want.

And I am talking about High Elf sorcs, Wood elf NBs and Dark Elf magicka DKs. Before you start shooting at me I repeat that I am not saying these are the meta or the better than the others builds or what you should build etc. What I am trying to express is my concern and really big disappointment that one of those builds is gonna become obsolete with the new racial changes if they stay as they are. ZOS really hit hard that nerph hammer on the dark elves vanquishing their signature boost on fire damage, wiping out any morph of recovery and giving them less magicka than the other classes, practically killing one of the most iconic builds of the game the Dark Elf MagDK.

I have spend so much time and had so much fun with my Dark Elf that he will remain as he is. I just hope people will start showing some love for the Dark Elves and make ZOS reconsider their approach

PS I apologise for the size of the post

That would just make them OP, I think Dark elves should get extra 100 fire spell damage, kinda like the flame whip morph. Should give dark elves a niche for Magdks again

We haven't seen combat changes yet, so maybe this could happen. Still it's something to bring up maybe not exactly 7% but something to lessen the lost?

Meta was Dunmer, other classes only got the benefit for Fire Blockade while mDKs got the benefit for all skills. Now with spell damage passives, other classes will gain dmg while mDK loses it as 7% > Spell Damage at End Game PvE Builds.

So grats ZoS, finally killed the bad apple of Magicka DD Community :3

Same thing happened to WOW. Had a class I just loved to play and it was totally changed in one patch. I quit the game. I'm sure the Nerf bat will swing my way here also. Small changes not so bad but total class playability changes are showing no concern for customers. I feel your pain.

Honestly, they should just add an additonal 4% or so fire damage to the resist flame passive and call it Flame talent, that would return the feeling of Dunmer being superior with fire damage without overdoing it.

I specially made dunmer magdk year ago. It was very important for him to have that magicka percentage and flame damage bonus :/ I already have "proper" tank dk and stamdk characters. So I don't know what to do with my magdk after upcoming "Increases your Max Health by 600" :|
I kind of fell in love with this character thanks to both his appearance and powerful passives for his class; and recently he's my main PvP warrior in battlegrounds. I don't want to retire him to daily crafter slave at all :|

Umm, I love Dark Elves and only play as that race, so for me I am very pleased I can use any class I like and build my own way.

Then again, I never liked or used Meta / builds. I play my way and I am casual so for me this is a win. I am an ESP Lus members and spend to much in Crown Store, I like my toon to look good and I like my playstyle to be my way.

The irony of these threads. Not longtime ago there was so much enjoyment when ZoS nerfed mag sorcs to dust... now the hammer continues via racial passives. It is an irony that you can either laugh or cry...

I didnt disagree with all changes happening back then but i fully disagreed with the shield changes. Honestly i dont like magsorcs, i considered them easy mode and they have been op for many years. But i never wanted to see them being a punch box like they would if shield changes remained as they were initially introduced.

Same thing is happening now to Dark elves. They have completed destroyed the 'fire mage' concept in the game and frankly dark elves may now be considered viable only for specific stamina builds

i really cant understand ZOS on this as i couldnt understand them when they tried to 'kill' mag sorc.....

The change from bonus fire damage makes no sense. They keep saying they want each race to feel unique but that was one of the only racials that felt unique and lore friendly. Even if it was a little strong they could have just changed it to a lower percentage instead of making dark elf hybrid, which nobody wanted.

Some changes seem great like Nord and Breton, but a lot of the other changes are lackluster at best, dark elf among them. They really need to rethink some of these.

In all fairness Dark Elf was always hybrid. The race just leaned heavily toward the magic side of things. 9% max magic + 7% fire damage was very noticeable. They could have added more +Flame damage but I think they were concerned the race already was filled up with points.

Most iconic? I'd say most generic and boring. Dunmer DK and Altmer Sorcerer are most likely the two most generic "builds" out there and I am happy that at least one of them gets "fixed".

How someone feels about these changes are a reflection of how they choose to play the game and what their gaming priorities are. As such, I think it's important to own that our reactions to them are OUR responsibility and OUR problem. If you're the type of player who power games and feels they have to use "builds" because it's how the numbers work for competitive gaming, you made the decision to play the game that way. You can either continue to play like a power gamer or change how you play the game to not get frustrated or bent out of shape when changes like this happen. This is just a game after all. Is it worth stressing out about? Those of you who can afford to spend energy being frustrated about something like a video game must be truly blessed in your personal lives. Count that blessing while you have it. Seriously.

At any rate, as someone who isn't a power gamer, I create characters. I do happen to have a dunmer - he's an exiled Ashlander because he contracted vampirism - and he does happen to be a dragonknight as well as focused on flame damage. But he doesn't use a staff, he uses melee weapons. It makes him challenging to play in many respects - gotta watch his resource levels like a hawk - but he's fun and it works for what I do. The proposed changes will help his heavy attacks and light attacks have more power to them, and I'm not that concerned about the loss to flame damage. I thought about making him my first straight-up hybrid character, and maybe I'll do that now that it's supported even better by the racial changes? It's exciting to think about! :)

After reading the notes I thought just a moment to change my redguard stamblade to dunmer.
Dunmer meant to be nightblades with two blades and benefit from those skill line too but when it comes to endgame I think it would be more worse than good.

Khajiit will also lack with sustain.
Its better to stay with my 5 years old redguard.

I hope the changes would attractive me..

This is a double nerf, nerf for dunmer and nerf for overall mdk damage vs other specs. Completely unwarranted and brainless. And yes, its killing off the iconic dunmer magdk. Now dunmer is one of the worst choices for a magdk dps. Happy 5th anniversary zos, you finally killed the mdk after years of nerfs!

While yes, and that the dunmer will no longer be used in competitive PvE raiding, we will have yet to see what change Zos will make to the DK.
    Really, idk

It also stuck them into only having a large damage bonus to 1 element meaning you would lose damage if you did anything other than fire. With this now you gain equal power across all your skills no matter what element it is. Overall a positive change. That and an Indirect nerf to sets like Zaan and grothdarr which scaled best on Darkelves and for all the whining about Zaan on the forums i thought there would be bit of rejoicing at that.

The changes have yet to even hit PTS, let alone make it through four weeks of testing. We all know that there will be a lot of "tweeking" (and maybe twerking :p ) with the numbers before everything is finished. However can we simply relax and not proclaim something is "ruined" or "dead" until we have had the chance to test it out. Do I need to remind everyone that Deltia proclaimed Templars "would be dead" after Morrowind due to the introduction of the Warden and held a funeral for his Templar before actually testing out anything?
