When ESO was released on PC and console the various inventory sizes seemingly made sense. Who could imagine that - even with a full 500 person guild - we'd fill up a 500 space guild bank? Having 240 personal bank slots (eventually 480 for ESO+) seemed entirely reasonable for our 1/2/3 characters, especially with the 200 slots per character inventory! And there was no way anyone would actually
need all
five guild slots. When they added the home storage (4× 60 large storage + 4× 30 small storage) that additional 360 personal bank-like slots seemed like a godsend.
Fast forward 4.75 and 3.5 years (for PC and console, respectively), however, and most people will agree that the amount of space we have for all of the above is categorically
not enough.
In a 500 person guild - which, realistically, has an active count of closer to
half of that - it is unbelievably easy to chomp away at those slots. During events, all it takes is each person depositing an extra runebox and motif and your guild bank is doneso; suddenly the Officers are playing the inventory management mini-game as they decide what stays and what goes.
Assuming you're an ESO+ subscriber, those 480 personal bank slots are devoured even faster, particularly the more characters you create. I have 13 characters (and if the Necromancer hype is real, will soon have 15); trying to bank 6 sets of AY, 6 sets of Relequen, 5 sets of Siroria, 5 sets of Spell Strat, etc, as I build the sets, hurts real quick. That's ignoring things like extra food, pieces of other sets that aren't "meta" but are still juicy (e.g. daggers of VO), Crown XP scrolls that I do not currently need, spare Soul Gems/lockpicks that are there for needy characters to grab in a pinch, the plethora of perfect trait Monster heads & shoulders that I've pulled from spending my 382109371289371298 keys in trying to get the one shoulder I need or things like Monster Shoulder Style Pages, the dozens of trophies we can collect (e.g. Arena Gladiator's Proofs, Motif Fragments, Key Fragments, Psijic Ambrosia pages), etc, etc, etc. I cannot begin to imagine how non-ESO+ subscribers survive the great bank drought of 2E. I realize some people have mules but I, like,
play my characters.
Sure, eventually you move the sets onto the actual characters, but their personal inventory space is just as limited! For example, my main has a PVE set-up, a PVP set-up, and a Werewolf specific set-up which - by themselves - take up 42 spaces and I am still collecting pieces of some sets. When you add his necessary food, potions, repair kits, Soul Gems, lockpicks, and things like Surveys which have accumulated over a couple days, he usually sits at a
minimum base inventory of 100/200. That's of course after I moved the half-dozen old, legendary sets like Morag Tong and Sunderflame into home chests when they were nerfed. I also have niche sets like War Machine sitting in a home chest so that I only grab them when needed, because I simply do not have the space to carry them around. My Vet content (and occasional PVP) Healer does hold all of his gear, which includes 5 Monster Sets, 9 full gear sets, 3 piece-meal gear sets, and 3 Resto staff only sets. I avoid his inventory when at all possible. It hurts the precious.
At least though, when the inventory management mini-game is absolutely wrecking your day, you know you have a plethora of guilds to fall back on to make everything better.
Oh wait. I have my 2× social and casual content guilds, my Trading guild, my PVP guild, and my Trials guild. Want an extra Trading guild? Drop one of the above. Found an extra Trial guild, which has some runs that could fit your schedule but you don't want to abandon your current one? Drop one of the above. Found two amazing PVP guilds, that run on different nights? Drop one of the above. I never imagined that 5 guild slots wouldn't be enough but
5 guild slots is not enough.
Even though the current bank and inventory upgrades already cost 750k+, I would happily pay additional shinies towards this endeavor of more. I don't think it should be a "subscriber" thing, beyond us getting the extra bank slots we already get, however, I will gladly pay outright Crowns for any and all of the above more. I will submit videos of my cat doing cute things, or of my cat attempting to stalk and eat my smaller dog (if that's what you're into ZOS), for more. Cicero Valerius, with all of his twirly mustachio glory, will do the Redguard dance in the lavender Whisperweft Gala Wear for more.
More.
Please give us more ZOS. Please.
