What do you guys think is coming in 2019 for Cyrodiil? It sounds like the 3 factions will be united against a brand new faction in an attempt to end the 3 ways fights.

I would really enjoy having only 2 factions in Cyrodiil and Battlegrounds for multiple reasons.
1) Easier to see who wins
2) More opportunities to find fights in Cyrodiil if the map is split in 2 (more objectives to defend or to attack)
3) Possibly more challenging and outnumbered fights by joining the new faction
4) Capture the Flag would truly shine in battlegrounds with only 2 teams

  • Change emperorship to value faction score points and not alliance points - see this and this

  • Add 2 more quickslots to the wheel or add a different wheel for sieges weaponry only
  • Fix Balista Bolts not dealing damage on walls or doors if deployed at a certain place
  • Release bigger battlegrounds with 8 to 16 players per team and only two teams
  • Fix the permanent block animation - see examples : link1 link2 link3 link4 link5
  • Gives players 10 minutes to get back into Cyrodiil after relogging / crashing
  • Add a function to ignore the Claiming system of useless rewards
  • Improve the Mailing System / Rewards of the Worthy stacking
  • Assign specific group sizes to specific campaigns (24-16-8)
  • Make forward camps impossible to place near objectives
  • Make snares only available from ground effects abilities
  • Change emperorship to last minimum 24hours

    The issue with two factions is it become even more of a balance issue for which is more popular, the idea of three is that the two weaker ones can "ally" against the stronger third.

    I'm very interested to see what happens with Cyrodiil though.

    The only 3 banner war that will get changed is the quest line arguments between EP AD and DC. Zos hasn't given a rats bum about cyrodiil for 5 years. That certainly isn't going to change now that (at least for PC EU) population is lucky to reach 3 bars at prime time and becomes unplayably laggy at 2 bars.

    If it does relate to making PvP playable abd popular again, I'll be gobsmacked (and probably release some content again)

    It will fail. Tharn will eff it up. We already know that Talos ends the war in the end. Guess this'll be a storyline with a bad ending.

    IDK if after the dropping the ball for 5 years people will come back to ESO pvp. There might be 100 or so of old players returning. The damage is done and the trust and respect have been lost a long time ago. With newer games on the horizon this game has its chance and squandered it. Let’s just try and enjoy the ride out with the people we met along the journey. We lost 4 daily players that I know of this week alone after the patch issues Tuesday.

    Apparently this is something big coming up. I highly doubt this will be only pve related. Plus that could also explain why ZOS has been so quiet and lacking communication to the pvp community. It certainly does not justify their behaviors but having something big coming up could be an attempt to cover it.

    With no competitive game in sight, I believe that getting a huge change in the lore that bring major changes in Cyrodiil on top of fixing server performances or drastically improving them could bring thousand of new players in PvP.

    Don't get me wrong, I am still highly disappointed in how the company poorly manages the game but I am still convinced that this game has a huge potential if proper actions are taken.

    But let’s be honest, unless it includes some MAJOR PvP performance fixes it might as well not come at all. And not just some FPS boost, real, tangible improvements when it comes to lag and the ability to handle populate servers. Otherwise it’ll just die down very quickly if it generates any hype at all.

    Thoughts?

    Not sure the war is ending - lore is firmly against that type of resolution. At best a temporary truce versus a fourth faction that could just become the default for the duration of ESO, but that would hopefully be optional with the classic Cyro left on at least one campaign.

    1) The score is the score. Not any more or less easy with two than three. The biggest number is ahead. But it would probably less competitive with no third faction trying to spoil. Bandwagoning effect to winning side would likely be larger.

    2) Don't see this. A third group means more potential threats as who know who a third faction will attack, throwing off plans. It's messier and less predictable with the extra backcapping, more chances for feuds between factions, etc.

    3) More people might want to join the new faction out of boredom, but if the mechanics are the same faction stacking would be worse as people fought over some primary objective.

    4) BGs aren't based on factions of the Three Banners War.

    I have suggested a billion things to update/revamp/boost Cyrodiil in the past, yet going to two factions doesn't sound like it will resolve the major/long-running outstanding issues. But, I only logged into the game in 2018 briefly to do story content in new PvE zones and to get that new ticket-based mount, and I barely did any PvP the year before that, so my perspective isn't worth much.

    As far as I'm concerned, if you do minimal researches to understand how to optimize your game client properly, yon won't have any frame issues. There is no bottleneck or major memory leak anymore so anyone willing to invest into hardwares, adjust graphic settings correctly, keep strictly useful addons for pvp and keep them up to date can easily stay above 40fps in Cyrodiil at all time including large scale battles.

    What they need to fix is anything related to the server hardwares, netcode and game engine (your ping). I have heard rumors in different streams that Zenimax proposed an offer to a certain company to buy new servers but just speculations so far.

    As far as I'm concerned, if you do minimal researches to understand how to optimize your game client properly, yon won't have any frame issues. There is no bottleneck or major memory leak anymore so anyone willing to invest into hardwares, adjust graphic settings correctly, keep strictly useful addons for pvp and keep them up to date can easily stay above 40fps in Cyrodiil at all time including large scale battles.

    What they need to fix is anything related to the server hardwares, netcode and game engine (your ping). I have heard rumors in different streams that Zenimax proposed an offer to a certain company to buy new servers but just speculations so far.

    I need those sources, where you got that info about ZoS buying new servers. ^^

    It was pure speculations from random viewers in the chat of popular streams. I asked the people directly in DMs but got nothing official from them. I did my own researches and got nothing so far.

    Like I said in another thread, ending the Three Banners war doesn't necessarily mean Cyrodiil will be changed at all. Its impact may be limited to the overall story.

    Also, an RP note from an in game character saying he’s going to end the war means nothing.

    I agree with Frozn that the game has a LOT of potential, that and the friends I've made are the only reasons I've stayed.

    As for the big news, based on how incredibly well ZOS has handled their game in the past, my guess is that they'll add a 4th faction, return all the deer and birds to Cyrodiil, add 20 more proc sets, cap AOE at 1 person, shrink Cyrodiil down to 4 keeps with 15 resources each, remove outposts and slaughter fish will now be able to breathe air and walk on land. Oh yeah, and there will be 6 more reskinned camels in the crown store, if you buy all 6 you get a free toaster.

    Its just marketing. Every dlc and expansion has and always been promoted as 'sonething big', 'an amazing new world' 'somwthing truly new' etc, before tanning a zebra mount to claim it is now a bee.

    I think a couple of cyro updates will happen. Maybe new rules/objectives but otherwise remains the same.

    Maybe get larger instanced BGs. Something like TvT with sizes like 12v12 or 24v24. Larger maps.

    Class balance with necromancer coming in. They can't afford not to. Also I am calling it; nightblade/stamden is going to get hard nerfs to make necromancer sales higher lol (and templar is going to lose all healing to make necromancer healing more attractive lol).

    And with our new goblin poly’s for cyro use (limited time crown store sale @ZOS_GinaBruno), we shall be the fiercest navy goblin squad.

    Hopefully 2 faction battlegrounds and Cyrodill happens while having 3 factions is cool and sounds great on paper in reality 2 factions always gang up and beat on the other even if that faction is already in last place or not emp so its unbalanced and not fun anyways the only game Ive seen that does 3 way faction combat well is the current Planetside 2.

    and with the right amount of incentives a 2 faction war could work.
