The Silver Dawn was in the game Skyrim before ESO existed. It wasn't created new for ESO.
    It's already established lore.
Also, the Elder Scrolls games first began way back in 1994. World of Warcraft didn't start until 2004. (Announced in 2001.)

Where is that LOL button when you need it?

WoW was not the first to create a faction that contains the word "Silver" in it, nor have they been the first to corrospond it with Werewolves. (Even though WoW's order actually is just a factions of Paladins... but I digress.)

Varian is not WoW's invention either, but an actual name that has been used for both people and companies.

As for your reference to keep - How can "Moon & Hunter" even get closely resembled to "Black & Rook"? They're KEEP names, and its not like WoW's Black Rook Hold is even associated with Werewolves like Moon Hunter Keep is.

You're beyond crazy, OP. Perhaps you should try to take that tinfoil hat off every once in a while.

    1. Blizzard games are some of the most polished on the market
    2. ZOS isn't trying to be like Blizzard by doing something that every developer does (almost every continously updated game has a "meet the character" feature)
    3. Werewolves aren't unique to the Warcraft universe

Polished? Have you seen WoW graphics they are not polished at all unless polishing turds is what you mean ☺

ESO is far superior not just GFX polish but voice over too

Yes, you're right. I knew "Silver Dawn" didn't quite sound right.

ZOS is definitely not copying WoW as far as polish, ZOS finds some way to make the game worse every patch...

ESO has these events and it's done so poorly it drives more long time customers away than it attracts. The forums constantly have posts by returning players just utterly disappointed.

Virtually every other mmo i have played (about 40 of them) has made vast improvements by the 2 year mark, zos is 4+ years in and *** show keeps getting worse. Summerset patch broke console for a month and the lag and server performance this weekend is *** pathetic.

For example, the Meet the Character - Commander Varian article had several major red flags, from the Order of the Silver Dawn (an obvious attempt to parody the Order of the Silver Hand), to Varian (which is fittingly also the name of the former High King in World of Warcraft) to Moon Hunter Keep, which is a loose reference to Black Rook Keep in World of Warcraft.

The Order of the Silver Dawn is not new, it was introduced with Orsinium and the concept of such orders with similar names dates back into other TES games. So nothing of this is anything that came up recently. But the more important point is that Blizzard didn't come up with this. The concept of Werewolfs, Werewolfhunters, Silverweapons, etc. traces back trough plenty of fantasy games, movies and literature and roots in Scandinavian/central European mythology. Attributing multiple thousand years old concepts to Blizzard is somewhat ridiculous.

ALL THAT BEING SAID, I happened to check ESO news today and discovered that ZeniMax (either accidentally or intentionally) is now trying to copy World of Warcraft.

I think you are drawing connections where there are no connections to draw. Seriously.

Elder Scrolls has groups of werewolf hunters entrenched in the lore. These are frequently local in nature, and the Silver Dawn is local to High Rock. One could suggest that the Silver Hand, which is local to Skyrim, derives the idea from Silver Dawn, including the name. (It is not clear when Silver Hand was formed relative to the Silver Dawn, but likely centuries later).

As for the specific name references, other than the fact that "Order of the Silver Dawn" and "Knights of the Silver Hand" are both groups with the word "silver" in them, and "Moon Hunter Keep" and "Black Rook Hold" are both fortifications, there isn't any real connection.

In no way is the most recent update trying to copy world of warcraft.

If anything, if ZOS was going to rip off world of warcraft, I'd love for them to rip off some of the better class designs and balance philosophies.

Well, we do agree on some things it seems.

I dont really think ZoS is trying to make ESO WoWalike..
After all WoW has 0LAG, CD's, no spammables, no PvP zerg,s 1 death per 2min in PvE, twice skills used and above all: Its high skill cap in most classes

Therefore i ensure you ZoS is doing its best to NOT be WoW :D

Dawn sounds like Dawn of War. A popular Warhammer 40K game franchise.

40K is linked to Warhammer. Which warhammer heavily inspired Warcraft. Which according to OP records Zenimax is heavily coping. Basically ESO should try to not be like Pac Man. Pellets are ults and ghosts are daedra.

If anything BOTH probably are based on Lord of the Rings which is based on Norse, Celtic, ect. Mythology with a dash of Catholicism. THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS ORIGINALITY! IT IS DEAD!

I do admit I don't play World Of Warcraft... But if I know anything, sometimes copying is not always that bad! (It can be in some cases) I have played for about two years and I love this game! As someone who is detail oriented I find this game pretty unique. :D

Server performance was excellent this weekend. Queues were too long but performance was almost perfect.

You are clearly arguing emotion instead of fact, and you are deluded if you think these forums represent the player base.
