Necromancer Skill Line NOT Class

Skill line! The more skill lines we have the more diverse builds will be.

Options for alternative ways of dealing damage, either consistently or as burst, as well as utility or defensive options would be great for every class. More players will try to play existing classes in their own niche way

It could be argued that at top tier vet hard mode clears there will be obvious min/maxing that makes some skills more in demand than others, making more people cry ‘p2w’ or ‘grindfest’ if a new skill is actually good, but this already exists in game so who reeeally cares?

I'd rather have a whole class. Sure I could say a holy templar that summons the undead sounds...off, but I'm sure someone will counter the point.

A whole class just seems more enjoyable to most of us. If you make it a skill line you are limiting the potential of it. Between summons (zombies/skeletons/ghosts), that AoE giant arm grab imobilize/AoE with those skeletons grabbing and slowing you down, that channel npc necromancers use to buff their undead pets, to that single target and AoE range attack, too summoning a Bone Atronach/Flesh Atronach as an untimate. Not including other abilities that drain/debuff your enemies...it would have to be one heck of a skill line. Now if they can fit all those on a skill line then sure why not.

I think if they attempted to fit all those named skills in a skill line it might have balance issues with certain classes by making them overpowered.

Another thing i mainly hear about some people wanting a skill lines is because they dont want to start over on new characters and having to do all the horse training over again and collecting skyshards and achievements, etc. Me personally i don't view this as a problem. No one is forcing you to start over...it's not a requirement. The class could still be played. I on the other wouldn't mind starting over. I have a magic pet sorc as my main and I'd drop him in a heart beat to make my necromancer class, I'd just take my time and level him through quest, and slowly collect skyshards, books, and achievements as i played naturally through the game.

I think we need is a lich transformation skill line like the vampire one. Also I hope that with this they replace the generic lich models in the game that are not suppose to wear ayleid clothes.

It could be part of a dlc. A small map, like DB, maybe on the Reach, where we have to make a temporary alliance with the (plot twist!) worm cult. It would unlock the worm cult skill line, which, obviously, would be necromany.

I dont think zos will ever add necro. They likely won't ever add a new class. Warden was a cash grab the class was in beta and alpha and removed. Truthfully I'd rather see Brad any how

I think the options it would provide as a skill line rather than a class would be good provided there was a lot of time and effort put into it (i.e that ZOS are turning it out because its good and will improve the game rather than because they want more money from us). Like, the Psijic skill line offers nothing, the vampire skill line offers very little (neither ability makes it in to any top tier builds) and this is true for so many of the skill lines. I think the skill line would need to be substantial and offer something truly unique and diverse which ZOS have so far not really managed.

Anyway, I'm losing the will to continue with this game. I don't like how anti-consumer they are with pricing and sales strategies. The complete nosedive in quality items in the crown store since everything went full loot crate is total cancer and means you're basically having to roll dice to gain any new content which is farcical. Not been on in over a week and really can't motivate myself at all.

This thread should have had a poll. It would have been interesting see the numbers. This one from 2014 is the only one I have been able to find that is class vs skill line:

Alliance or... infiltration. I mean, they still are the baddies... but yeah, treating them similar to the Psijic order in Summerset might be a possibility.

Which Brad? Brad Pitt? Brad Majors? Brad Buttowski? :p;)
    Or wait, maybe... bard? ;)
(Okay, not like I can throw any stones when it comes to typefinger fails... glass house and all that :p;) )

But agreed, giving us -Bards- would make a LOT more sense as a guild-sized DLC then any corpse-fiddlers!

I am torn between Necromancy being a class and skill line.

We already have Sorcerer and Nightblade as classes that are "dark" themed and slightly fit the bill.
We also have; soul magic, vampirism, and some undaunted abilities that have some relevance.
A new skill line, an expansion of the soul magic line, an expansion of vampirism actives, and maybe even an undaunted ultimate would suffice.
Story wise it would make more sense to have a skill line because our characters' association with Mannimarco and the various tasks we perform on quests.
Personally, the idea of more global skills outside of classes is appealing as it helps with diversity.

Having a class, however, would mean more synergy with minions (or abilities in general) by class design.
A necromancer themed; tanking, healing, and damage dealing toolkits.
Overall, a more in-depth addition to the game that would likely be a true Necromancer playstyle.
Easier to balance with being an isolated from use by other classes.
Personally, when I play an Elder Scroll game and want to be a Necromancer, I simply go that route and don't mix another playstyle like NB--stealthy-assassin or DK-melee-fire-mage (I don't want to compromise the bodies I plan to reanimate)!

I think most people are mixing two wants together here. One is the idea of Necromancer as a class. The other is the need for some variaty of skills used. Stam characters are almost all weapon skills, especially PvP. Mag characters only have 2 useful weapon skills at all Crushing and either Wall(PvE) or Touch (PvP)

So ZoS should do 2 things, add the new class for one. Yes Warden was in since Beta, however if you look at how many Classes have been added to other MMOs, 5 is super low total, and 1 new class in 4 years is also low. The other is add the new magic based weapon line. Really I think it should be 2 new weapon lines, mag version of S&B and mag melee line.

Of course this is probably all just wishful thinking.
Has a point, the Class is already coded, its just a matter of moving over plenty of the NPC skills in to some skill trees. Also dont really think any of the skill listed comes close to stepping on Sorc/NB skills except the Bone Colossus Ulti idea. Even that could be fixed by just making it mobile, half way between Storm Atro and the Bear
