When did online games become such a huge refuge for degenerates that get offended by literally everything.

I don't understand anything anymore

Because not everyone's the same and some take it more differently than others

Then why 10 years ago everyone would just laugh at these petty actions. I'm only noticing people getting bothered by everything these past couple years. Especially here in North America. It's going backwards here and people are sensitive to everything. I miss working in Europe sometimes. People there don't care about stupid crap, laugh and just live their lives as best they can.

It has been said by some that people laughed 10 years ago because they were not enlightened. Same for women's suffrage, etc.

How can you even compare woman’s suffrage to a video game unless you are of course trolling.

This game at its core has slavery built in, oppression of certain races and imperialism with races going on conquests to take over lands and enforce its ideas, laws and beliefs and others.

You seem to want to compare in game actions of players to real life actions/feelings but all of these in real life are deemed highly offensive and wrong/illegal yet you still play the game and take no offensive at these parts?

I don't want to create a long side discussion, but suffice it to say that equality among gender and race was once viewed as "backwards" and "laughable." People eventually become "bothered" by it, and change occurred. We no longer think of equality as "backwards." The same is happening with other matters, such as the one being discussed now.

You mentioned in previous post about banning people over white robes...you do realize ZoS allows us to play AD, an alliance filled with racial supremacists, right? Even Aryenn with her selective racism, having announced she would rather have an elven infant on throne than a human.

Also, comparing past human rights issues to t bagging in a virtual world is total nonsense.

Honestly people, teabagging may be immature but people find it humourous. FYI humour is generally immature. And I'm tired, absolutely tired of moral superiority being given to someone just because they say "i'm offended". Want to tell teabaggers to grow up? Do so, but also tell the snowflakes who want to live in a safe space in a virtual world to grow up too.

Oh, I do. Sexual assault is not a joking matter, though. Just look in the news for how big of an issue it is. It's not a snowflake movement.

But using sexual assault to bash an in-game mechanic that doesn’t actually have anything to do with sexual assault *is* a snowflake moment. This whole thread is ridiculous.

Here, let me try out your logic: I think that swords should be removed from the game because I once got a splinter, and thinking about pointy objects makes me remember the pain I felt from that splinter. I really think that anyone who still uses a sword in this game should be banned, because it makes me, in my completely unrelated situation, feel bad. You don’t think splinters are an issue now, but I guarantee that swords will be removed from eso once people realize that splinters are not a joking matter!

Polite can be and is forced in society (well most of 'em anyway). We are expected to "behave" ourselves in public places at least. It fascinates me how so many use the excuse of "well, it's online so it doesn't count". I think that's down to them knowing that if they behaved as they do online they'd be in a world of hurt in RL, not liking it overmuch and thus really indulging themselves online.

It could very well be that the current expectations of manners and sportsmanship are going the way of the dodo. Societies evolve, sometimes not for the better. As for me, I'll stick with not intentionally being an arse for the lulz. :)

At some point along the way some people in society decided it's their right to get offended at every little thing and it was other peoples responsibility to solve that problem. It's a childish way to try to control other people, in a world where they likely feel like they have no power.
For awhile many in society played along, nodding their heads and saying "Yes, you are right, I'm sorry I offended you, my apologies". Luckily, more recently people have realized it's a petty form of manipulation and are starting to rightfully mock and shun those kind of overly childish and reactive people.
You want to get offended at everything? Fine that's your choice. Don't expect people to change for you, don't expect people to walk on eggshells because you will stomp and cry like a child, hoping that pouting will get you your way. Your right to be offended doesn't trump other people's right to be offensive.
Get over yourself, the world is a large place with many type of people, some people who will do things you disagree with. You can either accept that and move on to live a productive happy life, or waste your time trying to change everyone else to make yourself happy, only to realize it wasn't other people that made you miserable, it was yourself all along.

I think that swords should be removed from the game because I once got a splinter, and thinking about pointy objects makes me remember the pain I felt from that splinter. I really think that anyone who still uses a sword in this game should be banned, because it makes me, in my completely unrelated situation, feel bad. You don’t think splinters are an issue now, but I guarantee that swords will be removed from eso once people realize that splinters are not a joking matter!

Hands hurt people in real life, so all hands should be banned in a made-up fantasy video game. Make it happen ZoS!

I would advise you not to get too close to any open flames with that argument. ;)

Just following the argument that hurtful things should be banned to a logical end. ;)

Well, I'd debate the "logical" bit but that'd derail. :)

Is there a #metoo movement for splinters? Eh, don't think so. Not nearly as big of an issue as sexual assault.

You completely dodged the point (either because you missed it outright or because you know I’m correct). Teabagging has absolutely nothing to do with sexual assualt. If anything, comparing being tea bagged in eso to sexual assault is kind of disrespectful to people who actually have experienced serious sexual assault in real life.

If you *have* experienced it in real life, then I am truly sorry, but perhaps you should just stay away from pvp if it really does “trigger” you. The majority of players shouldn’t be punished just because a select few players have an issue with something.

You've displayed the complete opposite in this thread so far.

No, DieAlteHexe hasn't, truth be told. Politeness and kindness are unfortunately going the way of the dinosaur for some.

If by politeness you mean "agreeing with you", well, yeah, that ship has sailed long time ago...

    Sorry mate

BTW, discussing politeness and "virtual sexual harassment" in the context of what do I do after I virtually killed you ... Really?

I mean, am I going insane here ? Virtual sexual harassment is bad, but virtual murder is just fine and dandy... You can shoot in me in the face with a shotgun, but woe on you if you dare to squat on my dead body!

Excuse me, I need to go get my ticket for the Mars mission

It is. But as someone who gets T-bagged and who also T-bags back occasionally, I don't mind it. It comes with the territory of PvP. If I get Bagged after a gank, and I come back to find the guy who did it, he's getting bagged back. It's all fair game to me.

If they don't and it was a good fight? Absolutely not. Dude will get a /bow from me and I will slip back into the shadows. Business as usual.

If you're getting T-bagged in PvE though, IDK what to tell you. In PvP it's a much more grey area. I could see how doing it to someone in PvE would come as offensive. At least in PvP, you can kill them back! Come to think of it, some of my favorite experiences from PvP are when myself or another veteran player styles really hard on an enemy for the kill, then get T-Bagged by the on-lookers. Those moments are always really silly.

Well, I'd debate the "logical" bit but that'd derail. :)

The premise behind the entire argument is debatable, which is why this thread has gotten so much attention.

True enough. Been very interesting and very polarising.
