Steam account can't login: "Server connection timed out please try again later"

Got the game on steam too and can't log in, and if i could go back there's no way i'd get the game on steam again. I have no idea why I even did in the first place, it's just another potential point of failure like today has proven.

The last game I got (FFXIV online) was bought from square's website and I now avoid steam whenever possible.

So again, why would you buy non-Steamworks exclusive game on Steam if you hate Steam? There is no logic.
It's like World of Warships, Paladins, War Thunder, LotRO and hundreds other games which are not Steamworks exclusive.

Depends when did someone start to hate it. Maybe he/she loved it before she/he bought ESO on Steam? I also regret buying this game on steam very much and wish I could use Psyjic powers to undo this..

Only just started doing more quests for gift boxes the other day (now thinking of all the money i missed out on) and it's been great as it's one of the only times I've ever had a decent bit of gold since starting playing, but wow I'll be glad when it's over too. The server issues and the amount of maintenance problems have been chaos.

Yep, same here. Timeout when trying to login via Steam to the EU PC server. Luckily the login via the eso64 client directly is working for me.

Unfortunately this type of schedule has become a tiresome and very annoying routine. Hour-long maintenance in the morning. Login problems in the evening, sometimes with a follow-up downtime/maintenance in the evening/night.

Two hours and counting with no updates about the issue after 8 hours of maintenance. I know a week of extra stuff, but maybe some people would prefer just to be able to play the game.

The worst here, is you insinuate the fault come from Steam and not from ZOS... But I clearly don't think Steam is involved in the matter.

If ZOS did the things rightly, probably this kind of matter would'nt happen

Same for me. Can play on NA server...but EU is still impossible to login.

Ive been using steam for nearly a decade and have never had the problems with games on it that i do with ESO. So, im going to say, based on my own experience, the issue is ZOS, not steam.

excuse me with due respect, since we 've been already 12 hours we eu players without a chance to play.. and since it's been already a big issue in the last days, could you let us know at some point when you fix it also why this happened? i think it would be kinda nice for us customers and would also help a lot with this kind of frustration most of us are feeling ..

You messed it up. Potato is the Zenimax servers, whilst the plug is Steam. The issue is with this game afterall, its just ZOS not being able to make it fully compatible.

what has been explained? all i see is that when we have an eta we will let you know , while i asked also for an official explanation for this major issue today. maybe would you be so kind to read my request?

my husband has the game on Steam as well. he can't log in to the EU server but can log into the US one. He's new to the game and I have to say, it's really not making a great first impression. It's hard to convince him how great the game is if we don't get a chance to play...
