I think everyone should be required to log every day for 180 days to get jewelry crafting.
You know, make it fun like horse riding training and boost the server numbers a bit in between events..

Looks really nice. Glad I saved some of those research scrolls from my crates.

    Crown/crate research scrolls P2W threads inbound ;)
    brace yourselves xD.

There are more threads to come.
Not exactly P2W but those research scrolls are really convenient and are quite helpful.

This community has a weird definition of pay to win. This is worse than thinking Warden has to be garbage so that it isn't "p2w".

At least certain individuals do. More so than other MMO communities.

Lol, when the game launched there were no research scrolls to reduce the time. You could research 3 items at a time but that still took quite a while for 14 Clothing items for example.

I’ll think we’ll manage with just the ring and necklace. Also, you can get research scrolls with master writs which you can get in-game.

Research scrolls acquired by writ vouchers in-game have a cooldown of 20 hours and are only 1 day each(and only per 1 crafting skill).
Crown store/Crown crate research scrolls have no cooldown and have values of 7 days and 15 days and some are for multiple crafting skills.
Crown store/crown crate research scrolls are the clear winner out of the two.
    Food for thought everyone.

    It is not different.
    It is borderline P2W.
People on the forums tend to call stuff like OP weapons/armor being sold in crown store P2W and neglect the fact there are other types of P2W.
OP research scrolls in the crown store/crown crates are not blatantly P2W but they are still very close to the definition of P2W since a player can't research by normal means as fast as someone who buy multiple crown store research scrolls.
I'm still against the implementation of crown store/crown crate research scrolls.

Ohh I know about the base crafting ones. Used them to get 9 traits and it is very useful. Just don't know if ZoS have stated that they will be introduced to the writ vendor for Jewelry Crafting on day 1. They seem to really push to make it a longer haul.

if the first trait to research takes 2 days or even 5 days then i can say that zos is desperately trying to money grab with all the crown research scrolls that conveniently just appeared in the crown store. All the other research traits for the first time only takes like what? two or four hours? With it only being rings and necklace i do not doubt that they also raised the research timer to ridiculous levels.

aren't there only like 3 traits for jewelery though? lol

I don't think it's pay 2 win, I do agree though it will be pay 2 skip ahead in time....

I also think it's bad game design when you build a game system/concept from scratch revolving around artificial time barriers and obstacles just so you can charge people to speed things up.....

    It's very scummy.

Game design should not revolve around monetization and micro transactions....

Welcome to 2017/2018, the micro year for the casual gaming industry..... make things take longer to get so you can charge people to get them quicker when they should never have been made to take longer to get in the first place....

    :dizzy:

Good game design should not require this at all, it is purely for profit / greed and all the big publisher companies have been doing it for years now. Very few dev studios don't.

How on earth does that make it pay to win?

Your subject line (click bait) and thread content dont correlate. Everyone will be in the same boat on research.

And the debate on Jewellery crafting as a whole being pay to win is old and dull. Every DLC has things that are unique and shiny.
This, as in maelstrom weapons, yes it require skill but try being an end game healer without SPC. And yes it can be farmed in normal with jeweler from other sets or use key fragments.
Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

Yes, but so far no one has ever explained what you "win".

Back in early access before everyone had a chance to level their crafters, getting research done might have allowed you to make and sell gear that others couldn't make yet. Since that was before there were 9 traits to research, the next time you might have been able to "win" was when they introduced nirnhoned with Craglorn. Again, limited ability to "win" anything.
Considering the people who like to do crafting will be getting the chapter, research will be started for jewelry. I seriously doubt the first person who finishes all the jewelry research will be made emperor, get all the monster helms and shoulders without doing the content, get first place on the trials leaderboards, and get all the maelstrom weapons in their mail. So....what will they win?

You only have two things to reaearch. Not 14 like with Blacksmithing or Clothing or 7 with Woodworking. Even only researching one item at a time, you will get done way faster than the other craft lines
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

Blacksmithing/Clothing: 14 items, 3 slots, need 4.67 "rounds" of research to finish a trait on all items.
Woodworking: 6 items, 3 slots, need 2 "rounds" of research to finish a trait on all items.
Jewelry: 2 items, 1 slot, need 2 "rounds" of research to finish a trait on all items.

You'll complete jewelry research in the same amount of times it takes for you to complete woodworking research. Which is less than half the time it takes to complete BS/Cloth.

So my maths says without any speed discount bonus it takes 12 days to get one of the apparel pieces to 6 traits (which gear is what most people will be crafting I imagine), 24 days if you do the other pc on the same character... its nothing, sure 9 trait research will bump that time up considerably but if you think smart and do a ring on one character and a neck on the other (which if daily writs are involved will possibly be the best option should master writs come into line for jewellery crafting) then the only real convenience is logging in and out to research. So many people want everything now and making a drama out of something taking around three months.. Lets hope bloodthirsty is not a 9 trait or there will be chaos in the forums.. :)
