Been trying to get into a group for months and months, noone ever seems to want to do it and I really want to get it done and get some master weapons :( I'm starting to go desperate. Is it really that difficult to do? What's the deal with this.

Thanks to forums I found my dream group. Done vDSA first try in 3.5 hours, and got my master bow. Wooohooo Thanks everybody!

Which platform are you ? Have you asked in your guilds ? It's not difficult providing your looking at end game content guilds and are suitably geared seems you have just been unlucky

Hardest part of vdsa is actually getting a group for it. 20 clears and still haven't gotten what I'm looking for...

PC NA, asking guilds frequently, can't really get a serious PvE guild because of my real life schedule (tried before, always get kicked cause i can't attend). So that's a part of the problem sadly. I just want to do it and get my bow so i can effectively PVP here and there when I actually get to play.

I was on the same boat, no one wants to take inexperienced players who havnt been to vdsa but finally got a grp after spamming guild chats every day. I didn't get the weapon I needed but being in there I understand why people don't take people who don't know the mechanics, it's long but even longer for new people

Some of the people who frequent these forums paint some sort of reality that simply doesn't exist for many, many players in game. Sometimes I even wonder if they actually play this content any more. People make it sound as easy as ask in guild, make some friends and you're sorted, you have your vDSA runs on tap. Nah, one of the hardest things to group for. A lot of people who do do it, stick with the same groups and a lot of people who do try it out get their ass handed to them and never return again or stick to the faceroll normal version.

One of the worst pieces of content to get a group for never mind a competent group or a group that's willing to suffer until they get the hang of it.

whats the difference between building a group and looking for a group if your just by yourself? its like asking

"LFM tank, healer and dps for vDSA" and "LFG DPS for vDSA" theyre the same thing if your alone..if i understood it correctly, this guy have been looking for groups for ages

You think I haven't tried? Everyone just ignores that. I have literally no good friends besides some crafters I added because people don't even want to communicate :/

Also I'm the last person to expect something being handed to me. Life has treated me very harshly my entire existence, I'm only used to having to work hard for something.

Looking for a group is expecting it just to be built ready for you. If you are not an amazing tank/healer or elite dps, you need to build your own value by bringing people together and knowing how to lead.

After a good tank and healer are ready to run 10 dps will be clammering to join, and unless you parse the highest you will not be invited.

I have led many vet trials and sometimes that meant standing in main city’s spamming chat for an hour and vetting players to make the group.

Getting a tank who is not trash is always the hardest part.

That is not the same thing, because you show that you are going to handle all the organisational stuff. looking for players etc. "Being group leader". But I agree that it's hard to get a group for it. vDSA group with all first timers is probably OP's only option, which will take a long time and will still probably result in failure around sacrifice stage after 4 hours. That's the way it usually works. You try again next time after you see what went wrong. And because you are the group lead, you have the "honour" of replacing one member that probably wont run it again after the wipe.

Edit: @KingYogi415 beat me to it it seems ;)

No, The whole thing up until you decide to call it for that day can last 4 hours. At least with a beginners group, and of course does not have to be.
But sadly it does not get saved. They should rethink that at some point

A complete run with a halfway decent group normally takes 2h-2h30min

The thing about vDSA is that experienced players will generally want to run with "their" group--four experienced players who have run vDSA together multiple times so that there is "group synergy".

Doing vDSA with a new group--even if all four players are experienced--can be a little rocky. Doing vDSA with a new group where there are new players who are not familiar with the content is something that most experienced players will shy away from. And vDSA with a group of four new players (without an experienced player to guide them through) can be very long and painful as people learn the strategies and mechanics for the first time.

That said, vDSA is not as scary as some people make it out to be, as long as you have an experienced player who can guide you through it. A week or two ago, I ran three friends through vDSA, with me as the tank. Two of those three had never done DSA before (normal or vet), and the third had done it once a couple of years ago, when it was still v14. So essentially, three new players. And it took us 94 minutes, which isn't bad for three newcomers. But it's essential that everyone be in voice comms and that there are detailed calls and instructions (e.g., "Shadow Caster will spawn in 4%, get ready to burst it down." or "There's a gargoyle coming with this next wave, who will get the destro ult for this spawn?" or "There's a battlemage spawning soon in the northeast corner when we get to 80%, kill him quickly outside of group so he doesn't negate us.")

Hang around Craglorn, get guild, advertise once in a while but dont sit around waiting; do stuff in the meantime. You´ll get a group. I needed 3-4 runs to finish (guy´s electricity went out, tank was too squishy for last boss.. etc). Took some time to get it but I didn´t really sit around, did Craglorn questline solo in the meantime.

Got a crappy ice staff in the end, still worth it though :)

Of course, dont pay anything. People who would force you to pay to join a group are going to be the kind of people who kick you on a whim, anyway.

I play on EU, maybe it´s easier there.

I´d like the bow, but I don´t think it´s *essential* for PvP anyway. 1p Domihaus / Kena / Chudan would be useful with 2 5p sets.

@Nyladreas - it sounds as though you've tried joining raiding guilds before? Have you browsed the forums for casual guilds? I'm on PC EU, so no help to you (sorry!), but we have plenty people in ourcasual guild who have done vDSA before, and I've seen people grouping up for it often enough before. I don't think we have guildies who really want to do it who haven't been able to get a group together.

For a new group vDSA can take long (realistically up to about 3h). That is a lot of time to commit to a PUG group, so people are reluctant to PUG it.

WRT joining a guild, The Shogunate (NA) has weekly vDSA training runs for its members. We take a DPS and healer thru vDSA every Sat evening. We'll take a tank thru if they are experienced with vDSA in one of the other roles and have the proper gear.

We talk thru each round to explain the strategy and the priority kill order and have the trainee DPS handle any 'special' mechanics such as the bonfires in rd 2 or the lower level in rd 9. So far, 100% on clears

If interested, ping me (@Nadar) in game for a guild invite.

Unabashed advertising - The Shogunate has a wide range of activities running...from organized PVP to entry level PVE to end game trial raiding...and everything in between. Activities every night. Discord for text communication and TS for voice.
