Why is the Jester's Festival so much shorter this year?

Last year it started on March 23 and this year it starts March 29. And it runs over Easter weekend to boot, so a lot of people have family plans.

I'm glad I already have the achievements because it sounds like a nightmare to get them in that span.

I hope the birthday event starts right after because I've been waiting to level characters during double xp for months... 4 days isn't really enough.

It's entirely possible that's the reason it's short, it sucks though.

Get that dubious camoran recipe in those 4 days is my biggest advice to any player.

You'll get fools trying to charge stupid and unfair amounts in a few months time for it

Other than the Dubious Cameron and the Crown collectible is there anything else I should be going for during the fest?

I am only going to have part of Saturday and Sunday for this time around.....(will be out of town for part)

It's bad timing for some of us because the event takes place during a holiday weekend.

But to address the topic question.. I don't know why it is so short.

It's absolutely mind-blowing that they have achievements locked behind an event and then run the event in a 4-day window on a holiday weekend. It's like they thought about it for 0 seconds.

The Title, Royal Jester is the overall title for the event. Lord and Lady of Misrule is pretty easy to get just from the quests.

I've been waiting so long to get a DCT recipe (started playing again right after last fest), and now probably won't get one. It's quite frustrating given that I have almost a dozen witchmothers recipes but DCT is selling for 200k.

Did they say the actual event only last 4 days? Source?

I thought it was just the store items linked to jester festival that was 4 days available, over the Easter weekend. A seemingly normal timespan for limited time store items. And no word yet on the event's length in days.

Perhaps to discourage players from doing what you described doing yourself.

I know I'm guilty of waiting for this event to level a few alts but if they're going to shorten the duration of double exp events then I may not be as enticed to wait for them in the future.

Thank you. I completely missed that. Then I wholeheartedly agree with the people on this thread that it feels awfully short and oddly planned with the holidays and the family plans most people will undoubtedly have.

Maybe ZeniMax will see this feedback and alter the event timings. It’s entirely within their power and events have been lengthened in the past.

Any possibly of community feedback being reviewed @ZOS_GinaBruno @ZOS_JessicaFolsom @ZOS_Edward ?

Maybe because the event is such a chore? I remember last time I basically did nothing with it because it was just a bunch of fetch/travel quests with a strange twist, and the rewards sucked. They didn't even have the decency to make the firework items have an infinite collectible like the mudballs, flame spitting, and sword swallowing/juggling items.

Maybe it's because I'm a very serious person that loathes having to partake in goofiness, I don't know.

We had the anniversary right after last year and the jesters festival was more than twice as long as this year's.

I don't see why they would discourage leveling during double XP though. I mean, speaking personally, it's not like I'm not playing the game. I play and work on something every day, but for my 10th, 11th, and 12th characters... I just don't see the point in leveling them til there's a boost lol.

And please make the npc respawn rate 10x faster than normal in that delve. Last year I was brand new and couldn’t get to things fast enough. With only 4 days to get the recipes it’s going to be ridiculously crowded. I’d like the recipe, so I’m doing it, but waiting for things to respawn and competing for trash kills is far from fun.

Really, that timing sucks.
It starts on Thursday, late afternoon (time zones are a thing, dear ZOS) when Good Friday is a holiday in many regions, so many people are already doing stuff with friends and family, or are on their way. And it ends on Monday, one day after Easter Sunday, so you get half a day, maybe.
That's ... unintelligent.

I felt like with the amount of content last years event was a little long and although 4 days seems short it sounds like a step in the right direction. Short term always seems to get a better turn out, just like people are more likely to impulse spend on short term items in the store they are more likely to log in for the festival if it is a very limited time event.

So if people want that Royal Jester title, they're pretty much hosed.
We only have four tries to rescue the pig per character, so if you can't rescue the pig without getting caught those four times, you can't have the Jester title on that character.
Plus, reduced chances to get the Camoran Throne recipe, which is also required for that title.

I just want to make sure I get all the things that drop. Not so much worried about leveling characters, especially with a 4 day window. I'll just be running every single one of my characters through the event every day until I have all the new stuff.
