So... Level Up Rewards...

We don't get them retroactively? Because I can't find them anywhere on my character that was level 39 before the patch. So I have to waste time on a different character just to get the rewards I should have already earned.

Great.

It takes a few hrs to get lvl 50 with xp buffs and the only one you need is at lvl 18 for the storage coffer and lvl 40 if you want prisoners rags and the achievement. Only thing that sucks is if your maxed on slots you have to take out your wallet for another one.

Yes that's what you'll have to do. If you have a full account there is also a new character slot for sale.

You don't get the retroactively, but you should get them on going forward on any character still leveling.

Some rewards are once per account, others are per character.

So I have a level 25 stam sorc who will gain rewards as she levels up from 25 but to get anything lower than 25 I need a new character.

Why would ZOS do that? Because they are selling a 15th character slot to anyone at max capacity who can't bear to delete a character to get the rewards.

As unhelpful as this is, its also the truth. This was announced when Dragonbones went on the PTS, and that was the time to make our outrage known. Many of us did complain. Obviously, ZOS didn't care.

I understand it's frustrating to discover this on Patch Day, but this has been a known issue for quite awhile and now that its made it to Live,on both PC and Console, there's no chance that it will be changed. So unfortunate though it is, the only practical advice available is to deal with it. Feel free to complain, of course, but the time to convince ZOS otherwise already passed.

ZOS hasn't said anything either way. It sounds like the crates should stay fire atroncan in the patch notes, but I'd feel much more, certain if ZOS would confirm that. If they do change to Scalecaller, I expect a lot of complaints on the forums, and rightfully so.

According to UESP, the crates are supposed to be whatever crate is current. Equipment is leveled based on when you take it out, not when you receive it, so the crates would follow this same pattern logically.

There are things that I would have liked to get though. Costumes, pets, free crown items like experience scrolls, riding lessons, and instant research completion, and even the equipment, while may not be useful in itself, is likely to possess traits that can be researched. And none of it I can get, even though I've already earned it, unless I start a new character instead of spending time leveling the character I WANT to play, all because I played the game before this stupid update.

I've already quit two games in less than six months due to blatant cash grabs, I really don't want a third, especially one that I've sunk a good chunk of time and money into.

    on ZOS's part.

On the other hand, I can see how making it retroactive would be hard.

But actually, if they're going to tie things to it, especially an Achievement, they should suck it up and do the hard work.

These two are the only real beneficial things to someone that already has leveled characters. You start out at like level 3 i think if you skip the tutorial. You get those first 15 levels to get the storage in like 2 hours without any fancy gear, xp buffs, or other such things.

And if its the cost of the character slot that bothers people. If the chest was in the store, they would pay 1k crowns for it anyway. How much does a character slot cost?

It really shouldn't be that hard, in all honesty. If you hit the level of a reward, then pass that level, you can still get that reward, unless you got there before the update, which makes no sense why it's not retroactive to begin with. The rewards are tied to the level up instead of a simple check of "IF Level => X THEN UnlockReward=True".

Are there achievements tied to the level-up system that couldn't be achieved before? I haven't checked, but if so that's just f***ed up and another slap in the face to existing characters. Am I just supposed to delete my pre-morrowind character that I've put close to 2k hours into and start over every year? smh

PS: I still want my skill point for the morrowind tutorial that my character is unable to get...

Apparently, there is an achievement tied to the Prisoner's Rags Motif that you get at level 40. But besides that, there are other things you miss out on, like experience scrolls, a free riding upgrade, and some costumes and pets.

The skill point awarded by the Morrowind tutorial mission is just a replacement for the one you get at the end of the original tutorial quest.

Nope. Pre-Morrowind characters will not be able to get that skill point, and morrowind characters can still get the point from the original tutorial. This has been known for almost a year.

All these level up rewards are for NEW players to the game.

No one is missing out on "what they earned" because this is new content for new characters.

I totally agree. If you have already leveled then you shouldn't get the Level Up Rewards. You should actually have to level up to get them that's why they're called Level Up Rewards

Yes, only new players get that quest. However, they DO NOT have access to the Coldharbour tutorial quest that gave you a skill point at the end. After all is said and done, it's the same skill point. You're not missing anything.

Which is a nice way of saying "screw you, old players who already leveled characters with none of the benefits or rewards the new people get."

Sure, we can get the rewards by making a new character which takes away some of the sting. I'm not one to go "In my day, I walked barefoot in the snow 12 miles uphill both ways" when it comes to new players getting something I didn't have. I think the level advisor rewards are good, and if they were all small things like potions and a food recipe, I really wouldn't care.

Its the big rewards, like the costumes and the crown crates and the prisoner's style that bug me. Those are something that all players would find useful, and while I'll be leveling a new character to get them, I'd much rather that ZOS had respected experienced players.

However, the reason i think they didn't is because its much eaiser to give the rewards to players active enough to level a new character than it is to give retroactive rewards to a bunch of accounts that may or may not be active.

But that's the thing, I actually HAVE leveled up. You're treating it like I started a new character at level 50 and didn't do any of the work to get there. But I HAVE done the work, which actually amounts to MORE work than a new player because I didn't get all the free boosts that they do, so actually the people more deserving of the rewards are the ones that have actually put time into the game.
