Players that have been around awhile and have max character don't need leveling rewards anyway, so what is with all the crying? Good grief.

It depends on what kind of crown crates will be given for the levelling. If they are a special one tailored specifically levelling characters, you are right. If they are normal ones with the possibility of apex rewards...

Even if they do get tailored for leveling, if you can trade the items for gems, it can cause problems.

They clarified on the live stream that crates are one of the many (most) things that are once per account.

If you level up one character you'll get as many as a new player... Because character #2 won't get them.

Honestly Im not even sure why people are upset about this. We havent seen the rewards, its not as if we cant access the rewards through alternate character level ups, and the idea behind why they are doing this isnt malicious towards long standing players. As if ZOS set out to spoil newcomers over older players.

I see posts on these forums constantly talking about how xbox and ps4 achievements reflects that very few players have hit very early on gameplay milestones. And its quite obvious for anyone that has stopped to ask themselves why would ZOS set such a thing up for lowbies. Is that this would incentivize those types of players that might struggle to stick with the game, and stick with the process of getting to max level to actually do so. It also gives lowbies advice on how to better approach content so all the nashing of teeth that takes place here on the forums about players not learning the mechanics is being addressed.

This whole system is not a big F You to the long standing players. Its a new way to try and convince the short-term player to stick with the game. Play it longer and more often. Not everyone is going to be motivated by the same things, obviously prior to this system those who have made it to level 50 and beyond have found something to motivate them. So is it really a terrible thing that newcomers will have something different that might motivate them? Something that you are more than welcome to access through leveling a new character (Ive seen this sort of thing done in Star Trek Online and it was extremely successful in motivating players to create alts and level them up fully).

I think it's mostly hysteria and keeping balance. But complaining before hand potentially such items would be removed. Also interesting enough seemed like it was only one outfit per account in news letter but now it's one per character or so it would seem. True or not hysteria is important.

On other hand the system to me seems amazing and deserves a pizza party for whole team. This well help eso be top dog in MMORPG again.

Since there are so many defenders of new leveling system that's what I propose:

New player starts with 500k of crowns, 50 mln of ingame gold and 719 CP absolutely for free just after buying the game.

Just in case: that's where would logically new level advisor system develop

They said on the live stream that they'll be adding the ability to buy a 15th character slot, so that people with all 14 characters maxed can still level up a new character for the storage chest and crown crate and whatever.
Also, those things will be one per account, so that people can't delete characters and get them over and over by leveling up new characters.

The rewards obtained through the Level Up Advisor are items that will be helpful for your character as they progress to level 50, and will not be retroactively granted to existing characters. We'll have a full list of the milestone rewards listed in the PTS patch notes for visibility.

    So there!

But at the end of the day Khajiit has a nice castle and a swimming pool. A brown horse and a box with crown soul gems in it will not make much difference to this one.

attracting new clients is absolutly fine and should be done - but in the new games as a service world, rewarding existing loyal clients (that pay the most and probably bring the most new players to the game) should be equally important

to be fair to ZOS they have rewarded us with a lot of free crown crates recently.

ZOS GB, i think it fine, it remind me of Neverwinter's version of motivational giftboxes for level 10,20,30,40, and 50 if you reach at specific levels, and these items from boxes has some "1-up" power point like CP version, stablemaster boost, matching level gear for new characters.

those things that i can understand.
it would give newer players to try making 2nd or 3rd alts.

problems with shards, books and motifs are too massive to repeat. really leads to burn-outs.

Yeah, the counterargument is that all the new players will not have received many of the items we have along the way, so it's not nearly as big a deal as some are making it out to be.

If you're concerned about 10k worth of free horse at max cp (one which you probably would ride anyway, because everyone will have it), you probably need the "helpful tips" more than the steed anyway.

Aside from the storage item (which I suspect will be neither large nor unobtainable by other means), I look at it this way. I didn't have it yesterday, if I don't have it tomorrow, it is neither a gain nor a loss.

I just hope they disable the loading screen hints once they are no longer useful. My CP900 characters are well aware that you can bar swap at level 15, thanks.

It's a potentially clever way to breathe some new life into the game, and hopefully help people make better decisions in the process.

This its so many players who don't know how even do an simple one bar rotation some even only use light attacks. tanks with no taunt, healer with no heals even if any magic build with resto staff back bar can heal normal dungeons.
No the LA brigade is luclly not so common in dungeons but they are pretty common overland.

Think part of the reward system is to keep players level up giving them more chance in getting sucked into the game.

If it's just rewards to help level and the basic brown horse I don't see an issue. It's a help I've given out money to help nice people. We also got some free crates at one point. I think more than once? the horse in particular will be a big help to new players. And new players are needed to keep the game going. And if it means that much you can delete a character, and get one. Then delete it again and spend your days at alakir desert deleting and levelling for a free crate with a 0.000001 chance of something good
. To me deleting a character for a crate seems stupid and puts it in prospective of "nah not worth it" but it sound like there's nothing stoping doing that repeatedly should you so choose.

Yes, but it was completely new information, which wasn't available in the original announcement. If they clarify this before the stream, there would have been less angry thread and post. Also the 15th slot wasn't confirmed, just mentioned as a possible solution.

Well, at least there will not be an excuse for new players to spam chat asking for gold to buy a mount. Now they'll get one for free.

For the sake of noobs I hope the advice this system gives is better than the advise that appears at the bottom of death recaps.

What else should be there? I certainly hope nothing more is necessary. Sounds like the only possible advice unless Zos caters to players with single-digit IQs.

Maybe they should add a dictionary pop-up so players can look up the really big words...like 'fall'.

Aww yes, yet another slap in the face to veteran players.

-It felt like I got screwed when they went from the subscription model to buy2play. Loyal subs got what? Like 800 crowns? For a years worth of subscription. I remember they had a deal for new players who got even more crowns for buying ESO+.

-It felt like I got screwed when they went from veteran ranks to champion points. The amount of grinding to get those characters to VRwhatever didn't really translate into CP very well.

-It felt like I got screwed when they turned half of my provisioning materials into vendor trash.

-It felt like I got screwed when they combined my horse skills into rider skill. I had multiple horses and the numbers just didn't seem to add up.

I'm not surprised they're making their most dedicated players level another character to get a free crown crate.

New players > Veterans, it's the zos way.

What is your point? Is this suppose to be a knock on Zenimax? If anything you are just nocking yourself down. After all you are saying Zenimax can do anything and you will stick around. So for someone I believe is not so happy since you have gotten "screwed" more than once, you seem to take what ever Zenimax gives.

So why are you sticking around when you claim that Zeminax is not making the game for you? Find a game that you will enjoy and be happy.

    Because I like the game.

These are the forums... they are kind of designed to give our feedback. So when I see something I dislike I am not going to hold back my opinions. The product they sell is good, I just question some of their choices regarding their treatment of loyal customers.

Why should I shutup or get out? Are you incapable of seeing faults in games you enjoy? Nothing is perfect, and I give ZOS credit when its due, if I start to not enjoy the game I wont be on these forums anymore.

It´s always impressive to see how many people on those forums say that Crown Crates are the worst thing since *insert random bad thing* but once there are free crates they fight to the death to get them.

Seriously, how many of you guys have 14/14 fully leveled and equipped characters? Like .... 0,5% of the playerbase?
Most of you are just too lazy to level another toon. You want the rewards and no work.

    @hamsterontherocksb16_ESO Well Said! Huzzah!!

@badmojo I get it. I was a strong voice in disappointment of the festivals that re-hashed old stuff for new players, but Nothing For Vet Players.
But the "Complaining" of old/since launch players over this issue is amazing!
We, yes "We" as I too have subscribed/ ESO+ since launch and have over 7,500 hours in game, we have recived numerous "Free Crown Crates", we have a Senche-Striped Tiger mount that no new player will have. We have a Ice-Wraith pet that no new player will have, we bought the Imperial Edition that GAVE us a free horse that is cooler than the 10k brown one.
We just got new mounts and pets with Morrowind & CWC. We have a costume from loyalty rewards no new player will get.
I have had "Free Days" added to my account before.
SO,, before all the " I Have Been Here Since Such&Such and This Is Not Fair" bandwagon goes any further, stop and look back at ALL the cool free stuff WE HAVE been given that NO new player will EVER get!
I have kicked my entitlement bandwagon and will enjoy ESO that much more!

NOTE: I DO have issues with the New Storage Container being free and not available to everyone.
EDIT: Just read Natch Potes and saw that housing containers are not on rewards list... :)

I expect the crate to be tailored to give trash items; Pots, food, maybe an XP scroll, AT BEST. If it offers a chance at anything higher up (Crown exclusive mounts, pets, costumes, etc.) is the point that there's going to be a huge issue with this. Until we know for sure, I don't see a point complaining about it nor do I see the big deal about these rewards not being retroactive. The housing storage one stings a little bit but when considering that a new player is probably only going to have the apartment given to them for free starting off, doesn't have a max horse or bag space and is far from financially capable of buying something like Ebonheart Chateau, what does it ultimately amount to in the long run, an easier start?

So the new players have it easier than us vets, that's been the case for awhile now with the removal of Vet Ranks, the relative ease of getting gear now vs back in the day and just having access to a wealth of information that we had to test to find out, that if some minor conveniences for new players bothers you that much, make a new toon and grind the few hours to get all the rewards and shut up about it.
