It depends on what kind of crown crates will be given for the levelling. If they are a special one tailored specifically levelling characters, you are right. If they are normal ones with the possibility of apex rewards...
Even if they do get tailored for leveling, if you can trade the items for gems, it can cause problems.

We havent seen the rewards, its not as if we cant access the rewards through alternate character level ups, and the idea behind why they are doing this isnt malicious towards long standing players. As if ZOS set out to spoil newcomers over older players.
I see posts on these forums constantly talking about how xbox and ps4 achievements reflects that very few players have hit very early on gameplay milestones. And its quite obvious for anyone that has stopped to ask themselves why would ZOS set such a thing up for lowbies. Is that this would incentivize those types of players that might struggle to stick with the game, and stick with the process of getting to max level to actually do so. It also gives lowbies advice on how to better approach content so all the nashing of teeth that takes place here on the forums about players not learning the mechanics is being addressed.
This whole system is not a big F You to the long standing players. Its a new way to try and convince the short-term player to stick with the game. Play it longer and more often. Not everyone is going to be motivated by the same things, obviously prior to this system those who have made it to level 50 and beyond have found something to motivate them. So is it really a terrible thing that newcomers will have something different that might motivate them? Something that you are more than welcome to access through leveling a new character (Ive seen this sort of thing done in Star Trek Online and it was extremely successful in motivating players to create alts and level them up fully).
Since there are so many defenders of new leveling system that's what I propose:
New player starts with 500k of crowns, 50 mln of ingame gold and 719 CP absolutely for free just after buying the game.
Just in case: that's where would logically new level advisor system develop

We'll have a full list of the milestone rewards listed in the PTS patch notes for visibility.

attracting new clients is absolutly fine and should be done - but in the new games as a service world, rewarding existing loyal clients (that pay the most and probably bring the most new players to the game) should be equally important

to be fair to ZOS they have rewarded us with a lot of free crown crates recently.
@SantieClaws , as usual, your eloquence is only outmatched by your beauty. You're not half bad (as far as Khajiits go)SantieClaws wrote: »Khajiit is now just so pleased she worked so hard at the New Life festival to get all of her little ones trained to just above level 20 ...
But at the end of the day Khajiit has a nice castle and a swimming pool. A brown horse and a box with crown soul gems in it will not make much difference to this one.
So let the little ones have a little loot and a boost here and there along the way.

This its so many players who don't know how even do an simple one bar rotation some even only use light attacks. tanks with no taunt, healer with no heals even if any magic build with resto staff back bar can heal normal dungeons.Since there are so many defenders of new leveling system that's what I propose:

You are being ridiculous with your fallacy. It's what we been asking for an education system for masses. No more pugs are worst...why tanks no use taunt?

Also, those things will be one per account, so that people can't delete characters and get them over and over by leveling up new characters.

Yes, but it was completely new information, which wasn't available in the original announcement. If they clarify this before the stream, there would have been less angry thread and post. Also the 15th slot wasn't confirmed, just mentioned as a possible solution.
Aww yes, yet another slap in the face to veteran players.
-It felt like I got screwed when they went from the subscription model to buy2play. Loyal subs got what? Like 800 crowns? For a years worth of subscription. I remember they had a deal for new players who got even more crowns for buying ESO+.
-It felt like I got screwed when they went from veteran ranks to champion points. The amount of grinding to get those characters to VRwhatever didn't really translate into CP very well.
-It felt like I got screwed when they turned half of my provisioning materials into vendor trash.
-It felt like I got screwed when they combined my horse skills into rider skill. I had multiple horses and the numbers just didn't seem to add up.
I'm not surprised they're making their most dedicated players level another character to get a free crown crate.
New players > Veterans, it's the zos way.
What is your point? Is this suppose to be a knock on Zenimax? If anything you are just nocking yourself down. After all you are saying Zenimax can do anything and you will stick around. So for someone I believe is not so happy since you have gotten "screwed" more than once, you seem to take what ever Zenimax gives.
So why are you sticking around when you claim that Zeminax is not making the game for you? Find a game that you will enjoy and be happy.

I forgot to change the voice of my Warden so I might reroll her again soon (she is only lvl 29 so I would rather level her up again instead of buying an appearance change token). I might wait until the rewards are live to do so. Nothing I really want, it seems, but free stuff is free stuff.LadyAstrum wrote: »So...anyone planning on starting new alts? Seriously, how many of you guys have 14/14 fully leveled and equipped characters? Like .... 0,5% of the playerbase?
Most of you are just too lazy to level another toon. You want the rewards and no work.
When you buy a car and next season a new car with new features hits the market you don´t go down to your cardealer and complain that you retrospectively want feature x added to your old car.
Dear ZOS,
I´m ashamed of this forum thread, it´s stunning how a community thats so kind and helpful ingame seems to turn into selfcentered spoiled kids once they enter the forum.
You do an awesome job, the update is - judging from the postings and livestream - amazing. Keep up the good work.

Better analogy would be a car manufacturer making changes to your exact model and year cars software and not offering to update the software of the cars they already sold.
I have been an ESO+ member for years, I purchased the imperial edition, bought a couple copies of the game for friends, bought morrowind collectors edition, purchased crown packs, bought houses with crowns, bought maybe 50 crown crates and have 12 veteran characters and two others just above 20. I have willingly given this game thousands of hours of my time and probably over a thousand dollars. Is it really such a surprise that people in my situation are a little disappointed that ZOS isnt throwing us a few ones and zeros on a database?
Its crazy how many people want to swoop in and protect ZOSs decision on this issue. Just because it doesnt effect you doesnt make it right for them to do.
