Lol no. If a game HAS to rely on lootboxes gambling in order to stay afloat because its actual content doesn't entice the players anymore then the game has already failed.

Paying users are usually a very very small percentage of the population. The point is not getting someone to buy over and over, but to get people to do the first purchase. They will make more. Data confirms all of this. The only way it'd get to this point would be if whales took up a large percentage of players.
I have a lot of fun with Crown Crates and the associated content. I really don’t understand why the subject gets so much air time: no-one is holding a gun to your head. You don’t have to buy them.

Obviously because people want the stuff that’s in them, but don’t want to participate in this crappy, exploitative business model. What is so difficult about that concept? I don’t get why that’s confusing to you and people that continue to defend this BS.
“Others do” is a huge stretch of logic. They do it because the item in question is worth enough to them to blow half their pay checks, which is often justified by the old “at least I’m supporting the game” line, or my favorite, “my job pays well.” There is not a single sane individual that would tell you they want to risk their money like that unless they’re gambling addicts.DieAlteHexe wrote: »ThePrinceOfBargains wrote: »I have a lot of fun with Crown Crates and the associated content. It's not difficult to understand that some people don't want to take the risk. Others do.
Maybe having ALL the contents of the crates available "eventually" for direct sale might help?

To your second point, that would certainly help, but then you’d have people that complained about how much money they had to spend to get a certain item. ZOS would probably try to charge 20,000+ crowns for the “Radiant” mounts, which is outrageous. I can’t see them reselling these.
