Looking back, the reviews kinda sucked about the game? Anyone else ever seen reviews? At last the nostalgia of skyrim got me, but how about you guys and gals?

Nobody should be nostalgic for Skyrim yet, it's not that old and it's been rereleased like clockwork.

That said, I started playing because it was an Elder Scrolls MMO and I enjoyed the prospects for PvP and how the game could develop into something unique and interesting (which it has but not all changes have been a win, I miss soft caps)

I'd just come out of one horribly botched MMO. Shopped around for a few others. Wasted some time in DCUO, as I recall. I love Elder Scrolls. Got into the Open Beta. Rolled up a Pact character, and got dumped into mini-Skyrim. Played through that, and then started seeing a side of the setting I hadn't experienced in nearly a decade.

I got into it BECAUSE the reviews (critic) were mediocre. Historically speaking the games I have enjoyed the most are also occasionally the mediocre games.

I was looking for an mmo that would be like multiplayer version of skyrim, something I could go solo but also team up. ESO works perfectly for me. Honestly, I've never enjoyed a multiplayer game as much as I have ESO.

I've played Morrowind, Oblivion, and Skyrim so this just seemed natural.
Drathus Delenu- Dunmer magDk: Shehai Shatterer, Mageslayer, Stormproof, Peak Scaler, Clockwork Confounder, Orderly, Master Wizard, Cloudrest Hero, Undaunted, Dragonstar Arena Champion
    Thoronir Rolston- Breton petsorc: Stormproof
Zaakazha-Redguard stamblade: Boethia's Scythe, Clockwork Confounder, Maelstrom Arena Champion, Dragonstar Arena Champion

    Scrubs:
    Justinius Maximus Decimus- Altmer magblade
    Agronak gro'Mashul- Orc DK Tank
    Valerya Hawkcroft- Breton healer
    Zaaka- Imperial stamDK/crafter

It was a natural fit at PC launch for me, both in terms of MMOs, TES and other CRPGs. I deliberately avoided the beta as I wanted to explore the world and discover everything about the game fully at launch. It's been a virtually unqualified success for me ever since, the trading system being the only thing I'd improve.

Sadly a lot of us thought that. How a lot of people corrected us in our thinking that this IS NOT The Elder Scrolls series.

Same as me. While I knew after doing some research that this isn't The Elder Scrolls series that we all love and behold dear, I thought of this as an Updated Arena, where I can travel to multiple provinces and see locations that we haven't seen or may never see.

Not my quote but I love this saying

I was part of the early beta and subsequent super secret 24/7 in-house beta, so i really got here long before all the "kinda sucky reviews".

I've been playing TES games since Arena ...

Summer of 15 and I wanted something to play and I had read the game had improved and didn't require a sub. Also had my first nice pc and nothing to play on it. Skyrim was boring by then too since I had played it so much.

I bought it because it was an Elder Scrolls MMO with a subscription. When the sub requirement went away, my playtime eventually dwindled. As the game changed, I stopped liking it more and more. Now I don't even log in anymore. I cruise the forums once or twice a week, hoping against all odds that things will go back to the way they were. Still trying to find that MMO home, I am.
I am not spending a single penny on the game until changes are made to the game that I want to see.
    1) Remove having to be in a guild to sell items to other players at a kiosk.
    2) Cosmetic modding for armor and clothing.
    3) Difficulty slider.
    4) Fully customizable player housing that isn't tied to anything in the game other than having the correct resources and enough gold to build. Don't tie it to PvP, guild membership, or anything at all. Oh, make it instanced so as not to take up world map space, too. Zeni screwed this one up already.
Any /one/ of these things implemented would get me spending again, maybe even subbing.

Like many others, I bought it because it had 'The Elder Scrolls' on the box... it must be related to what I had played and enjoyed before, I said to myself. I wanted to be a part of it from the very beginning, but I couldn't dedicate any time to any gaming. Looking back at all the first ESO Live episodes, I regret not being there at the start.

One of the biggest attractions of the game for me was being able to finally see what other parts of Tamriel looked like. Fantasy worlds have long fascinated me - my book collection is testament to that. ESO doesn't disappoint in that regard.

I was apart of a large Destiny community of which a lot of the "big names" were moving to Eso. I was intrigued after a month or two so looked in to it and ended up ordering it online. Best decision I made :)

As an Elder Scrolls fan, I got excited about this game when I first heard they were making it. Plus, I needed a new MMO...I loved LOTRO, but after several years of daily play, I wanted another world to explore.

I’ve been here (on and off) since the closed beta.

I was in the closed beta and purchased it just before PC release so I would qualify for the transfer from PC to Console.

I was looking for a MMORPG that i could play on console that had voicechat and looked good.
I played Dark Age of Camelot so I assumed the dev team would’ve matured and have had less bugs.

The feedback and response during closed beta was incredible and the game did not have a ton of bugs that were not addressed right away. A few months after release that all changed.....but i rconsidered as the subscription requirement was dropped.

    And here i am now.

I tend to be a monogamist when it comes to video games. So I wanted one title that was good enough to keep me engaged while I was playing it, but average enough that I wouldn't sell out every other aspect of my life for it.

ESO was a pretty good choice, in that regard.

Fun fact: Despite sounding alike, game and the 'gamist' in monogamist don't share the same root word origin.

After Skyrim I wanted to see a remastered Skyrim in an MMO. Also see a Black Marsh, and other regions, for which I was waiting while playing Skyrim. If there was no new single player TES games, the ESO was the only one natural choice.
PC EU (PL): 14 characters. ESO player since 06.08.2015. Farkas finest quote: "Some people don't think I'm smart. Those people get my fist. But you, I like."

Beta felt like an elder scroll game, (yes I understand the restriction of an MMO), rest is obvious.
Dropped out for a year after one year playing and has played a year now.
Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

My reasons were fairly simple and straightforward. A bunch of extraneous things happened and I felt like checking the MMO scene for the first time since 2006. Heard that Elder Scroll Online was in the works, and since those games constitute my primary hobby (modding them that is) it felt like an obvious choice. Checked the game in late beta, felt it was fine. There were some bits I was not so keen on, but all in all I was happy enough with it. Did contemplate going for FF14: A Realm Reborn too, since am also a fan of that series, but in the end ESO won due to the Elder Scrolls aspect.
