Why can't women wear beards? This is sexist crap.

I think they should just remove genders from the game. We could play bananas or something.

What if I want to RP a female disguising as male to avoid people that are looking for her?

Then simply putting on a beard will only make you look funny and actually more noticable than before.

Dear ZoS, this is utter [snip]. None of the "girly" hairstyles, makeup, or dresses are restricted to only female characters. Anyone who wants to equip that stuff on their male character is free to do so, and yet the beard ....

    N1NjnVM.png

This isn't the first item like this. There are posts dating back years full of people complaining about restrictions to items like this. ZoS representatives have promised changes in the future on more than on occasion, and yet, no change. Why am I not surprised?

The items limited to a certain race are bad enough, but to restrict one gender and not the other is flat out sexist.

If i have to look a big orc-man in a wedding dress, I want to be able to put a damn beard on my female elf. Make it so!

There is a reason that women don’t have beards, and I doubt testosterone treatment was available in Tamriel.

Thanks for removing perfectly valid arguments allthewhile failing to actually moderate and remove pointless topics that apparently invoke discussions you do not want to have here. Bravo. If you don’t allow open discussions then at least just close them instead of coming with “topic to the ingame discussion”. This is a topic that goes much deeper, and you are not solving anything by acting like this is just a shallow discussion about an ingame topic. Because it is not.

During my adventures in Tamriel, I have:
      • turned into a bearded male Altmer,
      • turned into a goblin,
      • turned into a skeleton,
      • turned into a very hairy werewolf,
      • had my face completely reshaped, including the bone structure,
      • had my dead body resurrected,
      • had my body rebuilt from scratch using blue Oblivion slime,
      • witnessed a woman permanently turn into a crocodile,
      • met two people trapped in one body,
      • met the results of a successful mer cloning experiment,

...and you're telling me a simple beard is lore-breaking? Can I at least put on a fake one then or are wigs forbidden too?

For the record, I don't mind not being able to do it because of technical limitations. That's understandable.

To be perfectly honest, I'm not sure I would wear a beard anyway, but I think it's lame that I can't. Some other posters here have said it already - male characters have much more freedom with their choices. Apparently there have been some female-only items (I was not aware), but the overall precedent that ZoS has set is that *most* characters can equip whatever they want.

In terms of technical issues, as much as I also dislike the racial restrictions, I can at least kind of understand those because they are mostly khajit and argonian (that I've seen) - which have different shaped non-humanoid heads, so I could understand odd clipping and "fit" issues there. But things like hair should fit all humanoids just fine, regardless of gender, and if ZoS used that as an excuse, I'd say it's lazy programming.

The comments about boobs are totally irrelevant - we are talking specifically about items available for purchase in the crown store. Now, if ZoS decides some day to sell a padded bra or implants in the crown store, then I would say men should be able to use them (and probably would be, seeing how things go here), because that's the precedent that ZoS has set.

On the other hand, if ZoS wanted to restrict ALL items to, let's say "traditional" gender restrictions, I'd actually be ok with that too. Then men should not be allowed to wear dresses or makeup or any jewelry at all...but that's not the direction ZoS has gone with this game - instead they have selectively decided that a few items are not "proper" for certain genders, and I find it extremely hypocritical.

I definitely think cosmetics like makeup and jewelry should be available to both males and females. Even though bearded females/abormal body hair on females is pretty rare, similar to the way an orc male wears makeup, I think the option should be there if only because people using those cosmetic options would be rare anyway. It's reasonable in terms of lore naturally in that way

Well it seems there are some items that are male / female only (4 to be exact):
      http://en.uesp.net/wiki/Online:Crown_Store
(this list is not updated as the new item "Brigand's Beard" was added recently)

      - Long Patriarch Beard - male only
      - Brigand's Beard - male only
      - Dragonfly Wing Lashes - female only
      - Subtle Dark Lashes - female only

And.. idk from what I can see there are even more items that are not available for lets say Khajiit & Argonians.

Should we make a separate thread about some items being "racist" ?! :o

Is this a joke? Literally any man can put on makeup or female clothes. I don’t think any women can grow beards like that. If they can, they’re an anomaly.

Not necessarily saying it shouldn’t be done for *** and giggles, especially with all the drag queen Orcs running around. But don’t act like there’s no logic behind the decision to restrict it.

Um, it's a fantasy game. If we can ride giant lizards like horses and resurrect ourselves indefinitely, I think women can grow beards.

Looking at lore, I'm kind of confused as to why there would be so much genetic diversity in tamriel and not an occasional female with a beard. The basic concept of evolution through genetic mutation is in the game (i.e. Falmer). So any race capable of having male facial hair should on rare occasions have females with facial hair. I understand not wanting play a game that is exclusively bearded ladies, but I don't buy the lore argument.
