Why Pirharri the Smuggler is so greedy? 35% Cut?

Literally the single most useless thing in the game. Port to Vvardenfell and just run to the thieves den there. It's a ten second jaunt to the entrance and you'll never run into a guard.

Well for that matter Port to Anvil Gold Coast, Fence is almost directly behind the Wayshire. That is of course if you have the DLC for that zone.

My new path of least resistance Port to Mournoth Keep, walk out of house, Wayshire to Anvil, turn around enter Fence.

Still doesn't mean I am giving up on getting Pirharri, but clearly, there are ways to avoid using her.

Untrue. I usually sell to Pirharri instead of going to an Outlaw Refuge. I think she's intended for people like me who might happen upon stolen items occasionally, but don't want to spend the time going to a refuge to sell.

I just want the full set. Becuase of the Crown Sale I purchased the Banker and Trader, so I just want the Smuggler whether I use it or not.

Things change, later on down the Road the Dev may decide that in order to make these items more desirable because of slow sales to boost their capabilities, owning them now gives me the benefit later if it ever comes.

Ties in with the other 2 assistants. All 3 have their downsides. The banker can't access guild banks, trader can't repair and the fence is a greedy cat. The cat is handy if you have a large bounty with a ton of stolen gear on you when you're trapped in a building with guards outside or in your path. It's the only time I use it. 65% is better than nothing.

In such situations you can still port to a nearest wayshrine for less than 150g, where the guards are no problem or, as it was already mentioned, directly to Anvil wayshrine where the Refuge entrance is just few metres on the right.
35% is very much if you sell items worth 20-30k gold in total.
It's also much if seeling occassionaly.
It's just extremely greedy, especially for subscribers, who can easily come to Anvil and unload without Pirharri. In fact the cut of her services should be different for subs and non-subs. Subs should be given an opportunity to spend a skill points to lower the cut.

I get why she takes a cut (saving you the risk of guards on the way to outlaw's refuge), but really once you get the hang of them, guards are just an inconvenience, not a threat.

Mistform, invis pots, cloak, ankle deep water....

Take your pick. All counter guards pretty much completely.

So she sits there at your house and follows you everywhere, but she can't have a third? You give her nothing from the spriggans ring you sold for 22k even though she was there for that. She's ALWAYS there for you. What do you expect her to live on? Doesn't she have needs? "Hey there private fence. Wake up, I need to fence things right this second. I'll be back during your supposed lunch break." You guys are everything that is wrong with the world. Exploited labor at it's finest and you expect more and more. Only thinking of yourselves. :D

More seriously, the inn room in vivec is free or 3k. You can steal 10 - 30 things on the way from the inn to the outlaw refuge. If you have morrowind, it's a profitable route. When you leave the refuge you're super close to the wayshrine. If you're playing a rouge type, it might be the coolest thing about the "chapter."

Fleeing a guard is so easy on any level now, as an addition taking the flee from guard is working toward nice achievement Escape Artist. Another reason why the cut should be lowered.

Also using Pirharri works against Black Market Mogul achievement, or at least slows it down by 35%. Think about Mountain of Loot.

      I don't know..

If you are just trying to level legerdemain, she's pretty handy. Items only give you one point of xp when fenced, regardless of value. Use her to sell the cheap stuff, and keep stealing until you're full of higher priced items, then hit the fence. Or as stated, if you forget about a load of stolen loot and need to make room or are at risk of losing it anyway, it makes sense. One mistake in some areas, an over-alert pick-pocket target, someone too close when using Blade of Woe...I can think of several times where having her available has saved some of my haul.

65% of something is a whole lot more than 100% of nothing...

Convenience as @lordrichter just mentioned. However, I do agree it is a bit much. I hardly use her because of it. I just carefully make my way to the OLR in Reaper’s March.

Yes, you carefully make your way. If you have a bounty, you risk everything. Getting caught is bypassed by selling to Pirharri. As getting caught denies you gold, they need to offset that with the transaction fee.

nevermind the mindless, awful daily quest grind you have to do just to GET this stupid cat to follow you...but we're expected to LOSE money after that?... pass.

I have the smuggler... i don't use it. Just like 99% of the other players that actually finished the thieves guild garbage.
35% is WAYYYY to much. I could see 5% MAYBE.

I only use the Smuggler for the 40 Gold or less items I pick up. Ya ya, I know your "only supposed" to pick up Greens and Blues, but guess what, low level stuff gets picked up, especially if you have picked some pockets or found some troves.

Anyway, that usually gives me enough space to finish where I am, and then get to the Refuge for the rest.

It's sort of like the $3 you get charged when you withdraw money from an ATM that's not your bank. We call this a "Convenience Tax" It's what you pay so you don't have to go back to town to sell your wares.

I don't mind the extra "fee" in the field, but if he's in our house, it should be normal fencing rate.

Snugpod house near Elden Root is even better. The outlaw's refuge is literally 10 steps from your front door with no guards anywhere along the way.

I only used her once in a Dark brotherhood quest where I picked up a small amount of stolen goods from the instance. But due to me being a very bad murderer I got a bounty and kill on sight flag. And I didn't want to leave the area to do it all over again to fence those items I had. And thought ah well something is better then nothing. So I fenced it off to her. Finished the quest, killed my target, got slaughtered by a guard quickly after, and used the money from the stolen items I just fenced to pay for it.

But yeah she is very very niche for using. I can almost never justify the 35% cut when it's so easy to risk free fence it all for 100%+ just for a bit of travel time aka port to home, very small guardfree walk to wayshrine, port to anvil and a very short walk to the fence.. and get back to where i was (if i want to go back). Basically is that work and time worth the 35% fee.... extremely rarely.

Now if she could launder for 35% extra of normal launder fee it would be different. There are recipies i would gladly launder on the spot and loose the risk of loosing it to a guard. But ofcourse she can't do that. So yeah she's almost useless. More a fun thing then useful thing

But, if your in your house, your not back in town, so the convenience tax should still apply. Just like we can't use our Bankers or Merchants as full fledged entities, we have to go back to town for that, or find a merchant on the road...

It does not look like Haggling was intended to eliminate the assistants take.

It would seem the high cost for fencing items through here is due to the significantly lower risk of losing ones loot once one has her in their collections. It is great being able to fence all ones loot if presented for the danger or loosing it all to a guard, which is the idea behind the assistant.

Risk vs Reward. Want a higher reward then make it to a regular fence.

well since guards are so weak atm, there's no point in using her.

you can outrun every guard in the game (unless those in buildings).
and there's a way to get into each thievesguild hideout by using the open world entrance with absolutly no risk. Just go to closest wayshrine and then run to the entrance and GG

so I never used her for sell stolen goods...for what it is? I will get almost 2x more from normal fence and guards are no problem for me, every every wayshrine is safe from guards if you have bounty so you can look before run to refuge and this is no any problem and as some mentioned here this 35% is bigg difference if you are going with goods worth atlest 10k and more and also escape from guard isnt anything hard in open area, just some healing and run away with break free/dodge, nothing hard, always just you can also cc guard to slow down him

works just for me as reward (same as bought expensive banker or merchant) so this npc should work normla for me.
and with this how its so expensive to work...its nonsense as its just moment to get into outlaw refuge without any bigger problems

You can port 24/7 to any wayshrine close to outlaws refuge for a single cut less than 150g, when the cut from Pirharri is WAAY higher. Using it you loose money, no matter you like it or not. Get real.
