Why does everybody hate or avoid vet white gold tower

I love WGT. Either vet or normal... they’re both fun. And as a tank, I respect the need for a tank in at least half the dungeon (there are a couple fights that don’t need a tank but Planar and maybe the triplets absolutely do.)
Kena is my fav boss fight in the game on vet hard mode... loads of fun with all that lightning

or tanks aren’t capable of solo holding it till she’s blue-flame.

    Sorry, I'm vamp.

being a vamp is probably not the best choice for a tank....

I did wgt yesterday on normal ( i know not as hard, don't state the obvious ) as a lvl 13 tank with a lvl 12 dps, lvl 14 healer and lvl 22 dps. It was actually fun because everyone was understanding and willing to learn. If you go into a vwgt and happen not to have done it on normal ( because it is damn near impossible to get sometimes as a dps ) and even MENTION you havent done it, you get kicked, harassed, insulted, etc . Imo its not the people that havent done it, or who aren't cp 660 that are the problem, it is these super elitst people that expect EVRYONE to have 35k + dps and have a super optimized build and expect everyone to be capable of speed running everything. That is the cancer of this game. Elitism.

being vamp is probably the best choice for a tank....

The extra bit of damage a Tank takes from vampire fire vulnerability is next to nothing. Proper Tanks take very little damage, but to be able to do that strat properly you need to have high DPS in your group or else you are leaving the Tank out to dry(or get roasted more like). Some strong self heals on the tank and a watchful healer does not hurt though. A healer must be able to keep healing even if they have portals, and with the change that there will always be 2 people having portals that should be even easier to do. Sadly most healers fail in this.

I noticed a lot o fhealers dont slot enough healing abilities....strangly enough xD.

The problem on fights like that is some of our healing abilities are ground effects so they are almost useless on fights where people are constantly running around.

So it may seem like healers aren't slotting enough healing abilities when in fact they're probably just not using them because they are useless. For example: I can't chase 3 different people around recasting ritual of retribution under them every time they move out of the circle. It's just impossible - not to mention what it would do my magicka.

If I edited a post, it was for spelling. It is always because of spelling....

Because it requires everyone to work well together and be effective in their role. vWGT is one of those dungeons where you can't afford to have any deadweight.

Aaannnd apparently understand the mechanics. Which don't appear to be all that intuitive.

    Anyone good at teaching it?

I like pugging vWGT. I've pugged every vet dungeon in the game. Pugged vRoM on two of my chars today (not smoothly and no hm).

But I completely understand that most people who end up in one of those as a random the first time, might not be prepared for the difficulty and won't have a good time, and are less likely to want to try it again.

    I'm a main healer.

It was essential to learn that dungeon to get my SPC set, but once I got it I couldn't wait to get out of there.

Running WGT with a PUG group (even on normal) is painful at the best of times. I've run PUG trial content with less hassle!

    Necro Thread...

I tanked it for my first time a few weeks ago on regular.
The Healer and DPS were regulars as they camped it themselves a lot and they took the time to explain mechanics of the fights, beginning to end.
As a tank I had the mentality of wanting everything to hit me and only me. Well, they explained that, while it's mostly right, in some fights its not and the Inhibitor is one of those fights.
Yes we died a lot all through the tower but we finished it and I must say the Kena fight was easy, just a lot of moving around.

So it is doable in a PUG, you just have to listen to the knowledge that someone is giving you AND you need to give the knowledge in a level headed way.
We were all beginners at one time and I don't mind dying over and over and over again if I am learning something.

As few nights later I met the healer in Ruins of Mat. She explained that to me too. Much easier fights there...

Kena was so easy back when you could use a shard in the middle to get rid of her wall of lightning. But I went through torture doing that dungeon on Vet when the helm wasn't a guarantee drop. It felt like more people understood that dungeon a lot better back then than most new players do now because Kena isn't a sought after helm anymore so it's not as fun running it unless you know the others know how to fight it. No one wants to spend an hour at the Planar Inhibitor.

Heh, many groups cant even make it past the first boss in vet to get to the inhibitor.

I see many groups fail on Adjucator because they can't break the locks on the cells and/or they expect someone to run over and unlock it for them.

I also see too many DPS dont kill adds, run over to the Adjucator and stand in stupid trying to melee. They die after about 2 sec cause the healer can't heal through that.

I think the answer comes in two parts:

      1. Those who are good enough to easily complete it even with pugs have already collected what they need from WGT -and it prolly took too damn long- so they won't bother going again.

      2. Those who are not good enough to finish it without problems just can't confide in.
      3. Those who are here for fun and see no need to get frustrated pugging a pointless dungeon.

      4. Those who farmed this dungeon when it was a challenge and now get bored by entering it.

I was a auto-pick lock guy before this dungeon, like I was in Skyrim and all the rest because I didn't have the patience to learn how to pick a lock. But that was stupid because it's not hard.

Long story short, it was because of this dungeon that I learned how to do it, and now I'm pretty fast at it.

Planar Inhibitor. That fight is grueling with a PUG but easy with huge DPS. I've run vWGT like a hundred times and I still couldn't tell you exactly how those mechanics actually work. XD

No vet dungeons in a PUG, ever. No exceptions, been burnt too many times - but finally learnt my lesson.
Skye Cloude - Sorc DPS, Master Crafter. Main, the bestest
Lae Lenne - Templar Healer Trial grade.
Dromede - Stamina Nightblade, she's a newb and doesn't know what she's doing
V'oghatta - Stamplar pretending to be a tank
Ulville Thonvella - aspiring Fire Mage, be careful around her fire sticks!
Dromedaris - lost and not found. Named after a shoe, what else can you expect from her? A proper tank in her wildest dreams
Swims-Naked - too pretty to grind, too silly to quest.
Sun Flair - Dunmer Templar that can't spell for life. To bad she's too broke to afford a name change... Well, at least she's pretty...

The main reason is the majority of us have farmed that place to oblivion. Heh puns. Litterally because of kena and SPC. Kena was really useful way back in the day especially on overload sorcs in pve. Now not so much but SPC is still good. However when you've done something hundreds of times over and over and over it eventually gets boring and tiring. Not fun etc.

WGT was farmed so much, it became tedious and now nobody wants to run it.

Didn't bother to read all that has been written so far, but it is probably because this Dungeon used to be hell. It was super difficult for a long time and a pain in the butt to farm spell power cure in. Now everyone who cared got the achievements and people coming late won't find a lot others who are willing. If you want to go there, wait for it to be a pledge and then go more than once (or with friends). Tanks and healers do get groups a lot faster than DDs.

Because no one can do the Planar Inhibitor, even when you explain the mechanics 50 times.

I swear, I can count the number of pugs that ping pong the boss when she's in blue phase on 1 finger it's ridiculous. I just outright refuse to go into the dungeon unless I've played with them before and they know every mechanic because I'm so tired of grabbing the pinion and dying in a wash of blue flame because of idiot teammates.

      Never again.
