ESO actually plays really nicely with a gamepad due to the bar swap design.
I am enjoying the game. But it uses the most cludgy system I have ever seen. Add to that it has a glitch that the devs can't fix that has become part of your rotation. I mean come on, they're balancing the game around a broken mechanic.
Even with carpal tunnel and arthritis I can do it. But, that doesn't mean that it is intuitive, smooth, fun, or actually adds to the game in a positive way. It just is what it is...
Once you've mastered (no, I don't mean mastered in an " @Izaki 50.3k DPS mastered" kind of way) one rotation you will adapt to new skills pretty quickly in my experience. It's just weird and clunky the first few hours. When I change something in my rotation I just force myself to kill everything I come across using the complete rotation. If it doesn't have enough life just whip some air. That's the best advice I can give anyways: Use the complete rotation as often as you can. Don't be lazy.Chronicburn wrote: »I'm still bad at it but now I'm practicing (on normal pve) my rotation and it's not terrible (thanks to the help of people in here helping!) ... anyway it's awesome when I nail it and I dissolve creatures before they even touch me!
Before I can take it the next step though I have to perfect my weapon swap and learn to mix in the dodge roll ....
All said, I think it is fun because it's a challenge! The sad part is that by the time I perfect it, half the skills will probably be nerfed ... but in the meantime it's fun challenging my uncoordinated fingers and getting better at crushing stuff.

I am pretty sure it is more like a L2CODE issue. It is terrible gimmicky combat mechanics.
You know what's even more boring and tedious? Not weaving, and instead spaming skills mindlessly.DeathHouseInc wrote: »It's boring and tedious. Isn't real hard to hit a button to light attack or bar swap to gimmick stats /shrug.[/b]It is however completely repetitive...for every class pretty much.
Are you even aware that most games with relatively fast paced combat have animation cancelling in some way or form? From mobas to fighters and everything in between. So nope, not a mistake at all.DeathHouseInc wrote: »I am pretty sure it is more like a L2CODE issue. It is terrible gimmicky combat mechanics.

You might try not doing it "mindlessly." Thinking while fighting is neither boring nor tedious, as opposed to counting while hitting the same buttons in the same sequence over and over again.

It makes every DPS class to me monotonous and boring.
I understand light attacks need to be relevant...I think it should be a way that is actually fun.

If that's your perception of a rotation then you're doing it very wrong. I don't even count my weaves or anything, I just look at my DoTs and my stamina bar and do things accordingly. I have a ton of parses on my imgur with at least 40k DPS on each class that I play and I apply the same reasoning for everything. Its not about keeping the perfect rotation, its about adapting to the situation. Especially with the resource management changes. You constantly have to judge whether its better to heavy attack or to continue using your spammable. Plus there's no such thing as a perfect rotation since most DoTs don't have the same durations, etc.
So yeah, try that instead of counting your weaves. Like seriously, people count their weaves?

As an Aussie who gets terrible lag I'd be happy to see them go, it's hard to do with 300 ping.
