They ignored feedback: Next crown crate season will ALSO include mounts not purchasable with gems

They completely ignored our feedback and went ahead and added even more exclusive mounts you cannot but directly with gems. Did you want a skeletal mount with fire coming out of it? Well now you can for only a few hundred dollars depending on your rng! What do you think about this!

It looks like they'll be doing the same in the next season as well, with the Cold Flame Atronach mounts appearing in the Fire Atronach crates as super apex mounts.

This practice is probably here to stay.

No big surprise. I've purchased crates in the past and always been pretty disappointed. After the whole Bal-Foyen Nix Hound ***, I shan't be purchasing any more crates. Simple as that.

I'm not surprised but I won't be buying them to aim for those mounts. I'll use what I got and take whatever I get. At this point I'm not gonna gamble anymore (sour taste since the storm crates). I have some gems saved up and a few furnishings I can turn in if I get close to the 400 if needed.

Just wait until they add tradable hats with particle effects....

That being said, it doesn't really bother me, the normal "Apex" rewards are nice enough for me. The "Super Apex" rewards are nice to have in there, but don't really factor into my decision process when it comes to crates.

I've said this before the wth...

Up until the last set of crates I had every mount in game - just something I liked doing.

Became clear after opening a bunch of the last lot of crates that this was no longer realistic as I am willing to spend lots just not a potentially infinite amount on a game with no published odds or alternative method of acquiring said extra rare mounts.

So I go into this round of mounts in a situation where I can no longer ever have a complete collection of mounts so... I have already saved by not buying the re-tinted dwemer spider or the HoTR wolf. With this lot of crates I will only go for the horse, cat and maybe the guar mounts and if I get a super-rare then splendid, if not then no big deal.

As a result I expect to spend a lot less on crates and on mounts in general than I did before :)

If feedback cuts profit, then yes, they will ignore it. Really not surprised.

So long as they never include something that gives people an edge in combat, I really don't care if they rip people off in the crown store.

A mount is purely cosmetic and entirely up to you wether you choose to pay a lot of money for it. So it's whatever to me.

As long as it doesn't hamper someone's gaming experience, I don't honestly care.

Evidently it makes them money. Good thing I'm not interested in them. and I already pay money to roll crap in other games

And I mean this in the nicest way possible, and not directly in response to your feedback, but if ZOS responded to every piece of feedback left on these forums, the game would be destroyed.

It only takes one whale to spend $4000 to make up for 400 players that didn’t spend any. Those whales can fund the game if they want. It obviously works out for the company if they continue to do it this way. In my opinion, it allows more people to try the game for cheap/free and provides funds for future content.

This is what Ive been trying to tell people. Dont gamble for the nice shinys at the top. Theres plenty of information out there telling you what youre likely going to spend to get enough crowns for those items. If you really want those items, youre going to have to accept that there will be a minimum buy-in.

The original plan obviously wasn't making them enough money; it was finite, there was a point at which any person could get enough gems to get what they wanted if they opened enough crates. That's not the case when there are drop-only items. Players didn't buy enough crates ("don't like it, don't buy it" backfired), they added an incentive for them to keep buying.

That being the case, there isn't much feedback can do.
Just so that everyone knows, my Altmer still can't have black hair. About a dozen of Altmer NPCs in the game have black hair. Just saying.

    Meet my characters:
    Command: Do the thing.

Zadarri, Khajiit Fist of Thalmor: The thing was done, as commanded.
Durza gra-Maghul, Orc blacksmith: The thing was done perfectly, in the most efficient way.
Tegwen, Bosmer troublemaker: You can't prove I didn't do the thing.
Sings-Many-Songs, Argonian fisher: Sure, I'll do the thing... Eventually. Maybe.
Aerindel, Altmer stormcaller: After extensive research, I've come to the conclusion that doing the thing would be a waste of resources.
Liliel, Dunmer pyromancer: Aerindel said I shouldn't do the thing. Something about "resources".
Gyda Snowcaller, Nord cryomancer: I will find a way to do it that won't waste resources and make Aerindel proud of me.
Beatrice Leoriane, Breton vampire: I persuaded someone else into doing the thing. You are welcome, dear.
Sahima, Redguard performer: Doing the thing sounds awfully unpleasant and really not my problem.
Ellaria Valerius, Imperial priestess: I'll pray to the Eight for the thing to be done, if it is Their will.

The reality is this....the forums represent a very small portion of players and for those comments apply from players who actually are buying crates for rewards....neither matter.

What matters is people buying crowns. How they use crowns is of little importance but if and when they keep buying crowns, other ways to use them come about because people keep complaining that’s theirs nothing of value to spend them on.

    There’s no crown crate whale
There is a crown sale whale and it’s thousands upon thousands of players.
There are eso Plus pushers and there are millions of them

    The above is the reality

But the interesting point, for me at least, is that because of this tactic I will now spend less with them than I did before not just on crates but more generally across crown items. They had me happy to spend but by pushing it too far they will make a net loss from me which they can't easily walk back.

I am just one guy but I would think my spend is quite high and if enough other people like me feel like I do then that minor step too far could be expensive. Tipping points can be quite small but very expensive for companies that get it wrong.

Have plenty of crowns in my account will spend some on crates but absolutely not to try for those apex RNG only beasties.

If I'm lucky with RNG then I certainly won't be unhappy but I base everything on how many crown gems what I want will cost me.

I'm prepared to gamble but only in an informed way. As the chances for the apex are not only small but unknown they are strictly a no-no.

If anything I'm likely to spend less on crates because possible crown gem purchases are being kept away in RNG land.

I never attempt to get Apex+ rarity items. I usually buy crates for lower tier and/or more gems. If Apex happens, it's a bonus. So far though I've not wanted a single Apex mount even though I accidentally got a few.

The first part is true, not the second. Some game companies get it right and use the incoming profits for new content. Most dont. Those profits arent instantly promised to development. Development is given a budget and they need to hit their goals within that budget. Profits from Crown Store/Crate sales do not feed back into this. ZOS has investors who, upon investing, were given a promise by ZOS to do everything it can to return those investments to the investor and do everything they can to deliver as much profit as possible. The vast majority of what ZOS makes from its sales goes into its coffers and its investors coffers.

The idea that something like Crown Crates or LTOs are benefiting the games content creation is a misguided lie players tell themselves. If these Crown Crates or LTOs will do anything content wise, it will be to hog more and more of the development budget for its own use. Companies now a days dont expand budgets as much as they try to squeeze more and more out of the already laid out budget.
