What's the point of posting a topic like this? Because to me it looks like you're standing on a hill screaming "HEY GUYS! PEOPLE CHEAT IN THIS GAME AND GET AWAY WITH IT! MAYBE YOU SHOULD TOO?", but what do I know, I don't cheat.

ZOS never stopped memory hacking in ESO, it still works just not as before. Before being last May when people were levitating and spamming meteors, the kind of stuff that really caught attention.

All they did in response to the massive outbreak of blatant abuse was change a few mechanics, to stop the crazy stuff (infinite ultimate, no clip or flying etc).

    [snip]

My source is that I know people testing this on alt accounts, putting the info out there believe what you want at the end of the day.

    Please no!

Whatever you do, do not touch this thing.

Also, I wouldn't even mention it in the forum at all, to prevent weirdos from googling it etc.

I realise I sound paranoid, but I missed 3 days of vmol raids over this and I was so mad.

    I don't get it.
There are several 3rd party tools, cheat engine being the most popular, that allow players to modify all sorts of variables in this game, giving them a huge advantage over other players.

People are going to cheat. Those same people will stab you in the back IRL to get ahead - it's just life. I've never played a game; single player or MMO, that someone didn't figure out a way to get an edge.

There is only so much you can do.

    Greetings all,

While we understand that this is a subject the community would like to discuss, we must ask that everyone keep this thread on topic and civil. This is being said as some post were recently removed for being off topic and not so civil. One other thing we would like to point out is that discussing disciplinary action is not something we allow, and is stated within our Community Rules. So let us please try to keep this thread within the confines of the rules.

Cheat engine works on almost every MMO out there, even more so because a lot of stuff is client side verses server side, given the scope of players.

ZOS, I believe, does get analytics of folks using it and monitor when they see disturbing trends. They do have some active monitoring, such as when run speed is too fast, but they won't just jump on a guy that somehow got 80k DPS rating.

Typically for FAST action you need a video that has some sort of decisive piece of evidence, like casting 5 or 6 meteors in a row or health bars that never move despite pulling high numbers. Even then ZOS may wait on it, seeing who they run with, look at their behavior too.

It's not a bad strategy, all be it slow, but for all the effort they put in they only get a minor ban on these individuals. If ZOS invests the time then they should make the ban a hefty several week to month long ban after the individual gives a public apology. And, per their own admission of guilt, the player should have their account flagged publicly, so hopefully they won't repeat the issue due to social peer pressure.

It is frustrating as a player, to see how well and quickly the rules are enforced on the forums...but see the amount of time passes with little to no enforcement in game. Perhaps we could have community ambassadors in game to "help" get rules enforced? Or just any sign that ZOS cares about their own rules other than on the forums?

Its stuff like this that actually makes me feel relieved I play on Console.

Its much better to me if everyone plays on a level playing field. Update 15, which releases this month is going to level that field to the flattest its been since the game released.

The level playing field is also a philosophy I apply to life as well and will rail against those that seek to gain unfair advantage of others.

The problem lies with management and it always has . There is no open discourse allowed regarding the topic . Therefore the players just leave instead of getting into trouble for bringing any possibility of it up . ZOS has created a very soft cushion for cheaters with their policies . No names , no open discussion , no discussing punishment . That pretty much sums up the topic to the layman as don't talk about it here , we don't want to hear it . It's not a positive subject and it does nothing to bring in revenue so zip it . A policy made with ignorance towards the industry .

The truth is games with better communication on this and stricter policies have better player retention .

^ Agree 100%, I find it kind of sadly hilarious when I can report the same botter and start to recognize their @ name from doing so, and nothing seems to ever happen..... Until I name and shame them on the forums and then there's an actual response that isn't just, "Please also be aware that you can add players whose behavior you find objectionable to the ignore list." Whoever is supposed to be enforcing in-game rules clearly isn't and should be fired or replaced.

Exactly... and if these forums are any indication, if you post and criticize their lack of doing anything, they remove your post, which not only silences you, but acts to protect those doing wrong.

You are exactly right Rohamad.. ZOS needs to drop the safety cushion and players need to be called out and investigated. They need to hire a single full time person to actively go through and read these reports and investigate and not rely on having to receive 10-20 of them for one bot any more.

They arent coming to help in game. This game has been out for a while now and the problem has existed for almost as long. You illustrate and see clearly the priority. If the revenue stream slowed, they would fix the in game issues VERY QUICKLY. Stop giving them money until they do

I think if an account holder is proven to have been using cheating/hacking stuff, then the account should be permanently closed, with no refund of purchase price, and their IP address banned.

BTW, I've never noticed these "farming bots". What about them in the game gives them away to you? (Just curious in that I would enjoy recognizing one when I see one. I'm not asking how to do it!)

You will see a cluster of randomly named sorcs and templars usually, and they run in a fixed pattern, attacking things like mudcrabs or wolves or bears, and they run in a circuit all simultaneously and they all stack on top of each other.

Visit Tears of the Dishonored in Alik'r Desert, or Fort Virak in Stonefalls.. those spots are almost always botted. (on pc-na) As far as what makes them identifiable.. well they run in tight clustered groups making sharp angled turns at precisely the same pixels, pause for about a half second over the corpses of killed mobs and always resume the exact same pathing. They're usually Sorcerer with both pets, or Templars both using 2-handed weapons.

It's quite difficult to report them when they run in such a tight little ball cluster with pets flying all over the place. :/

Another place you can catch them are in The Riften, just behind the burnt buildings in Riften where the sabre cats are. They follow in a pattern there sometimes running single or in groups, but ALL of them run the same path over and over again. I have screenshots of them and reported a few of them. Doubt anything will be done though. I have no faith in ZOS any more when it comes to this stuff.

    To summarise:

Start of ESO had no caps - Cheat Engine could change almost every value, 500k stamina etc. Player flew around Cyrodill and shamed ZoS and the gimps with there head in the sand.

Now ZoS has added in algorithms for maximum margins that can be achieved in game. That is all. There is no dynamic calculation as per what your character is wearing/buffs to what approximately should be its outputted figures.

Most now just adjust there values slightly. Dodge chance +15% (because thats a legit value obtainable in game). Max all 3 regens to what are achievable in game and it will never flag with ESO and you will simply turn into a 'suspicious' player.

A lot of players left ESO <1 Year simply because anytime they tried to be competitive in PvE or PvP exploiters shamed the rushed untested content ZoS likes to charge a premium for. In my eyes ZoS are showing themselves totally incompetent in managing ESO.
