Sharpened Nerf

toxiclies
toxiclies
Hey guys!

So I know that Sharpened is getting nerfed and I was wondering what is going to be the best trait after that?

What is the trait everyone is going to go for?
I made a poll just because it would be easier to see what everyone would use. :)

Depends on your critical damage (precise), current penetration to not overpen (sharp), possible items synergies (Infused), solo play (charged) and possible capped stats making other stats worthless or limiting mechanics (nirnhoned).

    For short:

    Depends who you are attacking.
    • enemy player with large shields? probably nirnhoned or infused with oblivion damage
    • enemy player who is not blocking, with no shields and low crit resistance? precise
    • enemy player with heavy armor and high crit resist? maybe sharpened
    • NPC with low armor? precise or infused

I think charged still needs a buff, but training, decisive, powered and even prosperous can be useful for other reasons depending on the kind of build you are running.

    NIRNHONED
The short answer is that it will depend on your situation. With no-vMA stuff in PVP infused will be best. Solo in PVE, sharpened. Ninrnhoned will be near the top everywhere so I put that. In PVE many are very close in DPS. In PVP I belive Infused and Nirn were significantly better. There are good threads with excellent testing of all this on the PTS forum.

I am currently worried for the future of ESO. Population seems like it is in free fall and the cancellation of the North America in-person gathering feels very much like pulling the plug. Kudos on fixing the in-game economy though. Clearly whatever gold shenanigans were happening the last couple years are fixed.

I believe for most pve situations precise will be BiS
For pvp, nirnhoned or infused with oblivion glyph. I am curious to see which comes out on top.

What is really good about this is that we probably won't have over inflated sharpened prices on weapons anymore cause currently everyone wants sharpened for any game content.

    Nirn 2H + WD glyph gives a WD range of 1807 - 2155

Inf 2H with Oblivion glyph with an Inf Bow glyphed with WD gives you 2023 WD consistently while also being able to dish out 3000 irresistible damage every other attack.

This was answered with a PvP mindset.

    In pve I'll use precise.

Keep in mind that, because of the way penetration is calculated...

50% reduction on sharpened numbers =/= 50% nerf on its effectiveness

I don't know the exact math behind it, but the nerf is more around the 25-30% range, in terms of trait effectiveness. That doesn't kill sharpened, it just brings it in line with other traits.

Charged - great if you are able to stack many status effects like bleed and burning.
Precise - Bis in pve if you are able to use the The Shadow
Infused - all depends on enchant type, target and group distribution. Bis if using Torugs.
Sharp - still great pvp trait. well balanced. better vs armor than vs shield.
Decisive - not at all bad if you rely on ultimate and got access to minor Heroism.
Nirn - good well balanced for pvp. better vs shield than vs armor

Note: this is all just my impressions after studying the information from PTS.
if it actually will play like this we will still have to see.

That's because it's not a black and white answer, which in my opinion is a good thing. I've always wanted traits to be situational.
