I remember when there was no CP spending cap. Having to go grind zombies for hours on end to be viable in PVP. Do not want.

No. I've been playing since the January 2014 Beta and only have 505 CP, not everyone plays the game CP efficiently and I'd rather not see tons of people quit because they can't stomach the grind anymore. Eight know it's already bad enough as it is.

Desperate for Roleplaying servers to bring open world non-organised RP to Elder Scrolls Online. Please ZOS.
I mean if they keep the usable points at whatever they are, but the actual number shows on the name tag I'd be ok with that

Speaking as an end-game PvE player, the CP cap was the best thing to ever happen to end-game competitive PvE.
If you want a corollary, look at Diablo 3 with Paragon. The people who grind more paragon are just better by virtue of spending more time in the game, and that sucks. You should have to invest time to be the best, but not an endless amount of time.
Right now end-game PvE with its 630 CP cap, there is a significant time investment to get there but it's rewarding to do so. Also it means that all end-game guilds are on a level playing field once they cap out; the determining factors are skill and smarts, not just the raw time spent in game.
The CP cap is fantastic and necessary to a healthy and balanced game, in both PvE and PvP.
Seems like we get this every once and a while from someone who didn't play when CP was uncapped. The game essentially became grind to win, especially in endgame PvE where potential DPS is largely limited by stat potential. Many very good players and community members who couldn't dedicate 6 hours a day to grinding were lost from this, the endgame PvE community still hasn't completely recovered from the damage done.
Remember when the chucklehead that was at 500cp when everyone else was at 200 was your go-to Sanctum DPS because he could pull high numbers out of thin air and couldn't tell anyone how to repeat his results?
So... basically, make it unfair for newer players or people who have a life outside ESO? Sure! What could possibly go wrong?

I like the unlimited in PVP idea. As a separate campaign. It would be fun to go try it out but I'll admit I mostly like the idea because it will be fun to watch the forum threads and won't affect me when ZOS gets around to responding to those threads.
Casuals keep games going, not hardcore players. The sooner people who have more time understand this, the better everyone will be. I have a job, family, and can't spend all day grinding. What I do have is money, they want my money...make cp like it was on release and that's gonna disappear like a fart in a fan factory.
I'm the employed 30 something gamer. I play an hour or two a day if that. Unfortunately, I'm the majority and unfortunately, that's all that matters. welcome to reality.
The only benefit of removing the CP cap without increasing current passive caps, would be to allow those who have more CP to utilize a broader range of passives and this would make it unfair for those without the CP (BTW I am over 800 CP).
Wait for the next update, when the cap will be raised again and the earning rates modified accordingly.

Everyone's entitled to an opinion.
2 years ago when you could get Stam regen blocking lol when it took no skill to beat vdsa lol why do you think when they went up to v16 they also made trials and vdsa as well as dungeons harder? They where easy there where guys on pc, Xbox and ps4 going into vet trials with 6 ppl beating them why show something from 2 years ago when it was easy mode?
We are at a point where defense and damage will not get significantly higher than they are now. Why not uncap it? (Besides possibly having to rework dungeons and trials) At least increase the champion point cap by a larger value.
Having a cap allows in some point, the chance to lower CP players reacinh out cap ones, make it unlimited and it'll be a race as to be the ones with highest cps... it's alreayd painful for a player reaching cp system a first time to see other players 630, imagine when he'd know it's unlimited and there 800+ cps people around?
Well, there was a lot of outcry on the forum some time ago demanding that the game shouldn't show CP to other players at all, or at least show just CP 160. The reason being that low CP players were kicked from groups just for being low CP. I guess ZOS just tried the middle ground on this one.
The CP number is inconsequential actually. Either you suck or you don't.

I'm already embarrassed by how many CP I have (978 today): people with specific addons see this, and assume I am a good player. In fact I'm super clumsy, CP just means I have played longer - not better.

That was the original plan but it was rather confusing and almost everyone agreed that time that it was better the way se have it now (display CP cap instead).
Groupfinder:
The worst part is when it finally puts you in a group, your healer turns into a werewolf, your tank has 14k HP and the dps is heavy armor, using a restro staff and a two handed sword on the backbar. Then comes the 15 minute penalty before the cycle starts anew.
Rulz of Morrowind:
The first rule of Morrowind is: You do not talk about Morrowind.
The second rule of Morrowind is: You do not talk about Morrowind.
Third rule of Morrowind: Someone yells NDA stuff, uploads images, streams, the game is over.
Fourth rule: only invited players can test.
Fifth rule: one invite at a time, fellas.
Sixth rule: crying or bashing on pts.
Seventh rule: NDA will go on as long as they have to.
And the eighth and final rule: If this is your first invite at Morrowind, you have to play.
