What if you want to participate in the event, but stink at PVP?

I've only tried to play in Cyrodiil one time on one of my characters and I was really, really bad at it. I don't think I even got any damage done before I got killed. For me, it was a disaster. I never even got to finish my scouting mission. I am a member of only one guild, so it's not like I've got a lot of options for help there either. I'm afraid I'll get in there and not only a group will kick me, but my whole alliance will be embarrassed by my horrible performance and will try to give me away to the other alliances.

I'm not complaining. PVP players deserve love just as much as PVE players. I just want to participate, get some of the event goodies and not look like a fool while doing it. If anyone has any useful suggestions for me, I'd love to know what they are!

Just jump in and announce in chat "LFG". Tell the group leader you are new to PvP, and then stick to crown like he owes you money and follow instructions. Do those 2 things, and you will be miles ahead of the average pug.

Well if you are below level 50 there is a campaign just for you. Otherwise PvP is pretty gear specific compared to PvE. You are pretty much guaranteed most are wearing impenetrable trait gear as a good example. And unlike PvE dungeon runs and trials where everyone has a specific role, unless you are in a guild I'd build for some diversity with a mix of DPS, sustain/survivability.

Just jump in and have fun, I wouldn't care if I were you. Take advantage of the week and make double AP and collect the PvP rewards.

You don't even have to fight. Repair keeps, heal people safely on top of the walls, stick with larger groups.

Even if you suck, you earn AP and rewards.

Just try it again! :) Don't worry about other player's judgements (or perceived judgements). PUG groups won't kick you as long as you obey the primary rule of "stack on crown".

This is how to earn the AP & not be a good PVPer ;)
Go to Cyrodiil & look at the map... if you can see a keep or outpost that is your faction colour & there are crossed swords near it or the resources are another faction's colour... then use a transitus shrine to go there. Buy a bunch of fire ballistas from the siege merchant.

Go onto the outer wall of the keep (or inner of an outpost) & find which side the enemy are coming from. Setup a ballista & fire at them. Get off the ballista between every shot & throw out some group heals to the other wall defenders. Keep this up till dead or victorious. If the keep is successfully defended you will get a big lump of AP (called the D-tick)... if the keep falls, you still get AP from kills (with your ballista) & healing others that get kills.

That''s it! No need to engage the enemy directly & if you are behind your siege engine you are relatively safe inside the keep.

You all are making me feel like I might have a chance to be somewhat successful. My main is a Bosmer Templar using dual wield main weapons with my Templar skills on the front bar and a bow with those skills, a heal skill and a fire rune on my back bar. I have 432 champion points, but those are points picked up over months and a couple of different toons. I have a feeling I might need to redistribute those.

I'm not against crafting new armor for PVP since it seems like a lot of people do that. But why is the impenetrable trait better than reinforced? Doesn't reinforced make the armor stronger?

The armor strength is negligible with almost everyone running sharpened weapons. Impenetrable will save you from getting one shot by nightblades or quickly bursted down (in most cases).

I'll be interested and look into how I can help reward myself.

First of all you are going to need a lot more hp than me you will need at least 22-23 hp instead of the normal 17K for a PVE DPS.

Hopefully with the influx of players for the event there will be some friendly open groups formed for non-PvPers. Don't worry about looking like a fool, everyone does when they first start and most of us still do at times even after being seasoned. Don't let salty zone chat get to you, emotions can run high. Don't be discouraged by dying a lot, everyone dies regularly. I don't know what the 7 day campaign is like but maybe it'll get more attention with the event and balance out the Vivec load a little.

You can do just like every wanna-be-smallscaling guy,you don't need skill to be effective in PvP with the current meta:
    5 shacklebreacker
    2 bloodspawn
    5 alteration mastery

Just permablock and spam breath of life(magicka skill but you dont need to respect, just put magicka glyph) and sword and shield ulti/bat swarm and enjoy your ap ticks

Lots of people will participating in the event. You, me, and countless others who, like you and I, have barely even gotten our feet wet as far as PVP is concerned. We will be in similar company. Non-PVPers will be giving it a try.

If we completely suck at PVP and cast the shadow of shame upon our alliance, well... we'll be only a small part of what I suspect will be a very large shadow!!

I didn't pvp for a long time in this game. I didn't feel I was good enough or knew enough about pvp to do it. I joined a good pvp guild a few months ago and am loving it now. Getting lots of AP to buys things like gold jewelry, monster sets, motifs, gear and crafting mats for myself and to sell has been great. You will make new friends that may also do pve stuff with you is good as well and can help you with the pvp aspect of the game. Just get in and advertise lfg in zone until you get an invite. You might even pair up with the same people everyday. That opens the door to getting into a pvp guild. Try to stick together and stick to crown as much as possible. Follow orders. When you get some ap buy some dominion and fire ballistas and some door and wall repair kits. Don't worry about dying. Everyone does...a lot. Just have fun and get some cool stuff. It won't take long and soon you will learn the ropes. If you decide that you enjoy it and want to continue, then start looking at getting a good pvp set to wear. Now get out there! :)

Everything is hard when you are new to it. I hated PvP as I just died and died. Stick with it, get some pointers from people you end up running with and it gets loads better.

Impen or a ward is vital to survive. You need to stop/resist Crits

For this event as others said type LFG in chat. Someone will invite you to a group. Type you are new if you want, but just follow crown. Do what crown does. And you will earn AP. Even if you just buy repair kots and fix walls you will help and earn AP.

One thing on setup you mentioned bow then fire rune. Sounds like you are mixing magika and stamina abilities which doesn't tend to work too well. Stacking on attribute and sitting in one camp tends to work a bit better.

Sharpened weapon is key if possible, to cut thru others resistances.

Other option too is to slot a restro / use your templar skills and just heal the group. You earn good AP that way and everyone appreciates a healer

Everyone stinks at PvP at the beginning. And you are going to die a lot. Put that behind you and get over it; the very best players die.

If you join a group, do exactly what crown tells you. Do not squirrel and chase after sorcs. Stay on crown. That is all.

If you aren't in a group and are zerg surfing, play within your limits and acknowledge those are pretty narrow right now. Do not chase the guy dodge rolling around a tree. Do not overextend into an ult bomb. Do not get AP greedy and walk into a trap. Have eyeballs in the back of your head and beware of getting steamrolled from your flank.

If defending, do not pew pew from the walls, run siege. If your faction starts pushing, GO! Especially if the keep isn't lit (below 50% so you can't respawn there.)

Buy your own counter siege (meatbags, fire ballistas, flaming oils) and use it. Siege is a great equalizer and if you are running 3 oils or multiple siege on a breach, you are making a big contribution to the defense that requires no l33t pvp skill and frees up someone who may (or may not) be more useful elsewhere. Bonus: you are also "tagging" a whole lot of people so you get AP when they die. It makes me smile when I see recruits and tyros running multiple siege like a boss... because however awesome and essential countersiege is, they are *boring* (IMO) to run when I can be yoloing out there instead.

Random things that give AP: rezzing, repairing doors and walls, repairing siege and forward camps (if you repair my cold fire siege while I'm using it, I will love you long time), filling those repeatable quests you pick up at your gates. Kill 20 templars? You only have to tag them to get credit.

Fair warning: some people saunter into Cyrodiil casually one day and never leave. :)

Well @CMFan1966 I think you are lucky cause these events are mainly design to attract people to try to pvp, which means there will be plenty just like you learning the ropes :)

Now, I'd say your best bet is to you a group you can communicate with, of there isn't many you know who is pvping, then just try to look for a group of ppl and try to offer some support to them. Healing, or range dpsing will probably be appreciated.

Hope you can have fun, and welcome to cyro.

You just told a stamplar to run the destro ult...

To the OP, if you want to be successful, you need to give thought to a basic build for your character. Crafted gear and cheap jewelry will be more than enough to get you started. A bosmer Templar with DW and a bow is what we like to call a Stamplar (stamina based Templar). If you aren't one now, you should be. Sure you could respec and grab a resto staff, but what fun is that. If you want to play DW/Bow, go for it, just use some sense when you do it.

Best thing to do is google Stampler ESO PVP build and read some guides. Most good guides will give various gear setup ups and CP distribution. You will also find that most guides have a lot in common for any class type. Stick to the basics and error on the side of regen and defense. You can't kill anything if you are dead. Then dive in and have fun. As others have said, strength in numbers and don't hesitate to use siege and repair walls.

I got Vigor and Rapid Maneuver as a below 50 in regular Cyrodill because I didn't know about the sub 50 campaign. I stayed inside keeps, and shot ballista's and such at attacking enemies, repaired walls. Then when my side was attacking I stayed at the edges of combat, shooting arrows and jumping in when the enemy was outnumbered, and then shot ballista's at their walls. Sure, you die a few times, so what?
