Why only three? Well, I play at a rather relaxed pace, meandering from place to place, enjoying the story and the adventure and the people I meet. I really don't have time for any more than the three I have. I tried five, but they were quickly neglected...

Two. One is my dark elf magsorc. One is my argonian mule (less to do with dunmer/argonian than argonian having the naming scheme I wanted). I keep meaning to make a khajiit nb, but get distracted/busy with main or decide to hold off for a bit for one reason or another.

Why are 1 through 7 even options? The base game gives you 8 slots, so no one has less slots than 8.

That doesn't mean you have 8 characters, but you definitely have 8 slots.

I have seven, but only really play 2. The others are just so old I don't have the heart to delete them.

Multiple characters so far as each class is concerned (including warden), with assorted builds of my choosing (as opposed to the "requirements" of competitive play in which I have no interest (nor in PvP)), and with most but not all races represented - I have no particular affinity with Argonians and Orcs, no idea why.

I used to have 9, but I have cut it back to 1. I am tired of farming gear for characters I don't really play much. I don't even like playing as most of the classes. I am a MagDk and that is that.

I use 7 right now, probably going to create at least 2 more builds so will need to upgrade slots.

One thing that bothers me though is that ZOS didn't offer at least 1 extra slot for free considering that they launched a new class in the Warden, kind of a cheap move in my book.

But what can you do when you're slave to game developers?

Buuuut, I bet I have lvl'd well over 50 toons from lvl3-49. I have 10 max lvl that get to live on. The other 4 slots are just for lvling to 50 then deleting. I have rerolled one of my fave builds 10 times.

By comparison, LoTRO's paid-for expansion will include a character slot because there's a new race but you'll have to pay more (either by way of a more expensive edition of the expansion or by waiting until they appear in the cash shop) for both the new race and the character slot. Neither is included in the $40 standard edition of the expansion.

I only got to play 4 characters but I created at least one stamina and one magicka character of each class just in case. I have trained or I am training their riding skills currently and fully upgraded their backpacks so they function as bank chars while they sit idle.

8 so far - 6 actual characters, 1 mule, 1 mule/holding a name.

I've been debating clearing the 2nd mule so I can make a proper character using her name, and I have another in mind as well, but I feel like I should focus on levelling my existing characters first.
