The term "red shirt" comes from Star Trek where, more often than not, any character you had not seen before, wearing a red shirt, would be killed before the episode was over. LOL So now in roleplaying circles it means a character specifically created to advance a story/plot and that is very likely going to die/be killed by other players before the story/plot is over. I've had ONE red shirt surprise me by surviving due to the actions of the players and he's actually become one of my regular characters. He's still kind of a jerk and a total edgelord but I love him. LOL

That's so cool! I really feel like I'm missing out when it comes to role-playing.

So, what if your main gets killed during role play?

mostly to reserve names, some extra storage and more trade guild sale slots. oh and to fish with (I have a main desktop and an older laptop I used to play on, but now use as supplementary, so no botting here - on hand per keyboard, watching both screens manually, and all that)

I have three accounts. I used to use the alt accounts for storage, but it requires so much inventory management I don't care these days. During the eso plus trial I ruthlessly deconned all gear with sub optimal traits rather than move it to my other accounts. I am experiencing massive regret after seeing the upcoming trait changes!

P.s. The only things I still actively store on other accounts are treasure maps, they may come in handy when the level cap increases!

Storage and to team up with the noobs in pvp (occassionally pve). The latter goal conflicts with the former one since new characters require such a broad array of gear levels (which is extremely annoying). I hate dealing with gear levels in MMO's though.

And if so -- does this mean you have to download the whole game and keep a second copy of it on your hard drive?

I think my computer would be confused by this, but not only that, the game is so large (what's it up to now, 80+ gigs?) and I use my computer for so many other large-real-estate applications, that I just couldn't give up the space on my hard drive for a second download....

@ProfesseurFreder Yes, you have to buy the base game a second time. No, you don't download it again. The second account has a different username and password and which game you play depends on which username and password you use to logon.

I really don't understand the storage part since so much of the gear is bound to account and not tradable by default. There are indeed some good BoE overland sets but only a handful. On my only account I have actually a single character that stores those. And she stores also my training gear for 1-50: 3 tiers magicka and stamina as well as some gear I don't use on my tank anymore but has come in handy for other character. One more char for monster sets, one for LA sets and another one for MA and HA sets. Also an additional one for materials, since I don't sub. 5 in total. And 3/5 are just BoP gear that can't be transfered to another account. Besides select gear and mats there's really nothing else to store. And as my characters mature that will decrease to 3 as sets are passed on to the recently leveled ones. So in the end it will be 3-4 cars out of 14 tops.

To be fair, I've been, "thinking" about getting another account for about three years now. I held out for more character slots, so that all my unlocks would be available to me... but... never actually got around to starting up a second account (or messing around on the EU server.)

My main account, my second because I'm an altaholic, my 3rd because initially I wanted a PvP account, made the toons, and haven't really played it since, and the last was my trade/storage account that I haven't used as much since subs got the double bank space.

So I'm really mostly just using 2 accounts. :P
