Grothdarr and Burning Spellweave bug?

So I was running around in wonderful Vvardenfell and I noticed and checked a few times. That when running in the lava it would proc both grothdarr and Burning spell weave. Even though they both read when you deal damage and not when you take damage? Here is a few videos I put together also I have yet to have time to see if it procs in pvp from enemy players since I'm out of town and the Internet where I'm at can not run this game in PVP.

This also happens (or used to like 9 months ago) with velidreth. I was walking through the lava where Valkyn Skoria is and almost aggro'd him because of it

Does it happen in pvp when taking damage from fire? Since I have not had a chance to check?

I've noticed that with most proc sets that say "when you deal damage".

BSW also procs on PvP siege that inflicts burns it's target.

Fire Treb, Fire Balst, Oil Pot all proc BSW. Can't remember if Coldfire did too.

Ilambris procs in lava as well.

It is just a game feature. Lava procs almost everything ^^

When you stand in lava, you are dealing fire damage to yourself, hence why it procs BSW and Grothdarr procs on any damage, so it's working as it should.

I don't believe it's working as it should (lava damage is environmental damage after all...does falling damage proc "when you deal any damage" kind of sets btw?) but it's working in accordance with how the game "sees" lava right now. If you turn combat log on it will indeed say something like "you deal 867 fire dmage to yourself", therefore it can and will proc anything that procs off damage/fire damage(including Illambris for example).

Paulington is right. SInce their is no player/ncp to inflict you the damage, environmental damages are self-infliged damage. You are the ID source of the damage, exactly the same as equilibrium does.

So as long as you deal damage, you proc all sets who procs on damage. And since it's "your" damage, it won't put you in fight either.

I've been using Grothdarr for a while now and it often procs out of combat if I'm just heading forwards but still taking damage from a DoT left over from the last fight. Lava and poison clouds (which sometimes also happen in quest areas) can cause it to proc too.

The way environmental damage works is you deal that damage to yourself. That's why it procs in those situations. I suppose it's easier to have a character harm themself as a source for damage when certain parameters are met as opposed to creating an environmental entity for each and every damage source that we would deem to be "external." So may call this spaghetti code, but I think it is actually a clever solution to a bigger problem that just didn't have all the holes filled in when they implemented that. You could call it a bug because it isn't intuitive, of course.

Grothdarr procing on environmental damage is an old thing. BSW I was not aware of doing it too, good to know.
nice thing , pls do not fix it zos!!! I bet the battlegrounds arena with lava will love that

Lava, toxic water in ICP, frigid water in 5th MA stage, darkness in School of Warriors - when you take damage, combat log says "You hit yourself with..." Fall damage is different, "hit you with Falling"
