Pretty sure RP makes up most of this game's playerbase.

    It's definitely ZOS' favored playerbase.

And I see RPers and guilds having events and recruiting everywhere.

As a RPer: I LOVE housing! Finally places to sandbox and to sequester yourself from the non-RPers.
I really like it. Open RP in ESO - as in 99% of all MMOs - is a clusterf*ck of strange lesbians having winding and tiring dialogue with lots of innuendo in taverns that mostly focus on correctly served meals. Yea, hyperbole, I know. :) But you get the drift.
I don´t care if open RP is dwindling, as long as quality, private RP is thriving.

Well according to this thread, "Housing has killed off the remaining RPers".

    Maybe OP meant that literally...

When you walk around the worldspace, you may find someone who'll do quests with you.

An RPer can walk around everyzone 24/7 and find virtually 0 other RPers.

Housing reinforced this by making established RPers stick to their private instance based houses.

I said this probably 5 or 6 times now.

I would argue that housing allowed RPers to have a place to relax and roleplay at their leisure ( a "safespace", if you will.) That and the ability to control their environment as well as who can enter it strengthens their solidarity.

    Wait, wut?

Empty houses break RP? If I buy a house in actual real life, chances are it's going to be empty and I'll have to fill it myself with stuff I buy or make. PERFECT RP.

And they are 'harder to find' because of housing? Wut? Why? If they want to roleplay recluse that never leaves his cave then they don't WANT TO BE FOUND. If not, they are still out there in the world to find.

I played LOTRO and City of Heroes extensively, and from what I've seen of their RP community, housing didn't equal less roleplayers.

And yeah, alot of roleplayers seem insular and isolationist from an outside perspective. But they are in reality protecting themselves from trolling.

I ended up recruiting a few RPers into my trade guild by accident. They told me about how the housing update actually hurt RPers more than it helped them. The main issue apparently is finding other RPers which I can totally understand. I've seen a few RP groupers here and there, I dont' mind them in fact I like seeing players trying to sandbox. However as ZOS is aware of this game is not RP-friendly. There is no way to avoid the masses of regular players running around. The major solution to this would be instance based RP. So players can set their character to RP so they are put into a RP instanced worldspace. Even if players join RP instances without RPing at least you can widdle out who is trolling, and RPers can see who else they can RP with. All the housing update did was hurt the RP community, because they no longer can find each other. Also the housing system is just really bad, RPers would rather be in a nice inn or bath house than in an empty lackluster housing design.

I personally don't RP, but I can see how badly they're treated in this game. This is an Elder Scrolls MMO there is no excuse for ZOS to allow RPers to suffer and their community to dwindle overtime.

Even an instanced RP-part wont keep the trolls out tho. You will get a lot of people that set their characters to RP just so they can troll...

And presently this one is still unable to sit upon her nice redguard sofas at Castle Claws.

Why would you have a sofa only for looking at yes? The sofa is for the jumping and the napping and yes also always the sitting.

I already said this, but the ramification of doing so in this method results in lack of new player interaction. I'm not going to repeat my self a thousand times, I just wont post anymore.

Well, I read what you wrote and I understand why you're annoyed, but any argument worth winning will require repetition. It's not like Martin Luther King Jr. changed everyone's mind over night. However, as others have also pointed out, RP players can use the forums as another method of recruitment. From my limited experience, forum recruitment is usually the most common method for role-play recruitment. Like hard-core guilds, it requires a lot more membership maintenance because you're looking for very specific types of people to play with.

No offense but this thread is crazy talk.

I'm a "full time" RPer in that RP is really the only reason I play the game. I run a RP guild and network with a ton of other RP guilds.

Housing has made RP flourish more than ever before.

ESO is also the most RP-friendly MMO I've ever played.

At the end of the day it all depends on how you define RP being "hard to find". If you go stand in a city and hope you encounter RPers then yes, you'll probably have a hard time. However, a search for "ESO roleplay" will reveal a ton of community websites and resources for finding RP. The RP community in ESO is absolutely HUGE. Go have a look. And if you're serious about RPing in ESO it behooves you to do a little research, find some RP hotspots (they exist) and guilds/events to attend.

It's all there, you just have to look for it and not hope it comes to you.
