Yeah there wasn't much I wanted in these but had some left over crowns and went for it.

I've gotten a rare mount each time and with the 5k in crowns I spent I got 5 or 6 of those Nix Hound things.

I have to agree that each season seems to get worse and worse.

The only way to solve this is to speak with your wallet. Don't be an idiot like me and keep supporting this RNG for money crap thinking it'll get better. Just stop paying for it and they'll have to do something different.

To all the negative commenters. Why bother? Do you get some good feeling about being a troll? Do you feel like a big man now because you're not. It comes off as being an ass, your bigger epeen is only in your own head. Your life must be ultra boring to have to resort to this to make you feel better about yourself.

Obviously getting rigged? Maybe you were extremely lucky before. It's in game gambling.

Besides. You only opened 19 crates. Probably need to do at least 45 like you did the first season.

Considering I spent 5000 crowns on Nyx Hounds I'm gonna pass on that suggestion lol. I highly doubt the odds will change much.

The issue here is that the hound seems to be taking precedence over items of the same tier, it seems to be coming from most people too - they're getting absurd amount of Nyx Hounds, the RNG on them was likely weighted to make them far more common - and destroys the notions of reward tiers.

I was def. extremely lucky the first season - but there's also been other factors like not getting extra cards anymore, except once out of 19 crates - when previously you'd get an extra card roughly every 3-4 cards, and that was pretty much for everybody.

I do genuinely believe they've tweaked these crates to try to encourage us to buy more - but in doing so they've pushed me away from buying more.

When I opened 45 crates in the last 2 seasons I undeniably got duplicates - but I didn't get the same card 79% of the time. Just looking at other comments around, people are getting Nyx hounds, on average, more than 50% of the time. That one item in particular seems to be quite problematic.

Not only did I get nothing of note in 15 crates (oh yeah, bunch of costumes I will never wear but can't convert)
but the conversion rate on potions, food, gems etc was AWFUL. Barely made 100 gems from this, only able to buy a few things I want with the 75 gems left over from last season. Usually I'd buy a 2nd or 3rd set of 15, but not going to this time. The conversion rate is so bad it would cost more than I'm willing to pay for the statue of Clavicus Vile, the Velothi guar and some new eyeshadow.

Didn't get the nix hound tho, praise Azura.

Edit: Why can't we convert costumes/pets/etc that we don't want? At least the motif will convert since I already have all of them.
Has the conversion rated changed? think it was 55 crated average to get an specific aspect mount.
Might be an reason why they are not on pts.

I think I may be getting misinterpreted a bit too due to my being upset.

I actually did get the things I wanted with my gems (counting the 200 from last season.) This post wasn't an "I'm mad because I didn't get what I want" thread.

My being upset is coming from the fact that one item is seemingly weighted when previous seasons weren't like that.

Oh I must have missed the part in the OP where he states the actual chance of receiving each item and then comparing those numbers to his results, then running some quick calculus to arrive at a probability of him receiving said items on chance alone, preferably with a low p-value like maybe 5% or less.

Because that is the answer I was seeking.

    I concur.

I bought 15 crown crates and most of what I got was from the superior and fine reward tiers. The most 'valuable' things I probably got was the nyx hound and the hopper. I got a couple of cosmetic items but for paying $40 I don't feel I got my money's worth.

I wouldn't hold it past Zenimax to be shifting their drop rate in order to suck more money out of us.

I Can't do that because I don't datamine the game. I just know for myself personally I yielded that one item exactly 79% of the time. It seems to be beyond just simple RNG - weighting is obviously a factor.

@lagrue , I completely get what you are saying. My repeat item wasn't the nix, but was those dwarven eyebrow flap things and the ugly eyeball monacle. If I didn't get one of them in my crates, I got the other. I did get one of the mounts, but not one of the super secret special ones and I have no hope whatsoever of seeing a glowing sweetroll.

When I traded in the stuff I didn't want, I bought the Dro-m'athra pet and mount, one of the motif books and the mossy netch. Since I used crowns I had saved from the last sale, I don't really feel like I'm out anything. Will I buy more crown crates? Probably. Will I specifically purchase crowns in order to get crates? Probably not.

You bought the crates, I have no sympathy for you.

You gambled, and wonder why you didn't get a jackpot. No sympathy in the least.

I'm not at all wondering why I didn't get the jackpot - also thanks for coming in and saying all the things I asked to refrain against - I did say in my post that it was my own choice. IF you also read past a grade 2 level you'd see I didn't even want the apex rewards lol... I was never seeking the jackpot.

What I was really wondering is why out of even the common rewards I got the same one 15 times, clearly an imbalance going on. I also don't recall asking for sympathy - but hey, somebody has to be the resident *** on the forums right?

And this is why I don't gamble ... eh, play.

An imbalance? Maybe. It wouldn't surprise me in the slightest. I mean, lower drop rates mean more crown box purchases. Right? A child can connect those dots up.

On the other hand, maybe RNJesus just wasn't there for you today? You got a bunch of nix hounds. Someone else got none. Unless you gather numbers to establish a drop rate (and if I recall there's a thread somewhere around that was doing that), how will you know for certain? Even if you gather numbers for all the crown crates dropped, what does that tell you about your unique experience?

Say you go to Vegas. You drop four half-dollars in a slot machine and you win a prize. Maybe not the jackpot, but a prize. Does that mean you will win a prize every time you drop four half-dollars into a machine? No. And I'm guessing you're smart enough to know that.

Say you go back and you drop 50 half-dollars into a machine. - and get nothing. Does that mean the house changed the prize rate? No. It just means probability wasn't cutting your way that day. Or it was cutting your way before. Whichever.

Assume you drop one more half-dollar into the machine. Do you now have a greater rate of getting a prize than when you dropped the first half-dollar in? Again, no, not if the machines are working off a pure random selection process. Because probabilty is based on the instance not on the collective. Someone could come up, drop a single coin in, and walk away with the jackpot. And it doesn't mean you "primed" the machine for a prize. It just means that they hit the 1% or whatever with their coin. That's it.

Some people either don't believe or understand this. They insist that x number of prizes should be delivered in a given number of tries. This is the problem with gambling. It's called the maturity of chances and its a fallacy. The people who don't understand that fallacy make up a large part of the Gambler's Anonymous population.

To be clear: Zenimax hasn't even promised a lottery (e.g. here is a prize and one ticket will get the prize - the more tickets puchased, the lower your chances of winning). All Zenimax has promised is that you will get four cards, with some possibility of getting five, and each of those cards will have some prize reward on it. From your own statement, they delivered on that promise to you. You received four cards for every crate you bought, with a chance of five, and got some kind of reward for every card.

That you didn't like your reward really is kind of tough cookies.

It blows my mind how people gets so emotional caught by these crates. How simple is to not buy if you don't like them. Why you feel like you got to convince people not to, why can't you respect that I might enjoy them.

I think the OP's idea is that there's an unfairness going on in that delivery. I don't recall what ZO promised when it started crown crates as I've always assumed that something like this would eventually happen.

After all, I'm quite familiar with ZO's RNG and how fair it is ... :(
