Something Very Unusual Happening in VMA

Went into VMA to test out a new build, and was immediately faced with damn near insta-deaths constantly. It was as though I wasn't even wearing any gear at all, nor had any type of resistances. Mind you this was on a stamina character (my StamDK to be specific), with 20k health and 15,252 spell resist and 11,589 physical resist (5 medium, 1 heavy, 1 light). In other words, my typical setup (except for usually I run with lower health). And yes, I made sure my gear wasn't broken. Lol.

My gear setup is: NMG, Maelstrom DW's, Maelstrom Bow, and Vicious Serpent. Infused on big pieces, and divines on smaller pieces. Purple body pieces, with golden weapons. Weapons themselves being sharpened.

Also what I find weird, is there being an unusually high amount of lag and or skills seemingly not responding to inputs. For example. I'll activate Vigor, and nothing will happen. Although, it'll drain my stamina to register it was used. And it'll also show that the input was performed. And yet, I'll have no health returned. Same thing with dodges. I'll dodge, and still get hit. Even though it's draining my stamina for the dodge, and showing me dodging. I'm getting hit, as if I hadn't dodged at all. And thus making it pointless to have even dodged to begin with.

I also had a double Dawnbreaker fly out as well. I'm assuming that coming from lag, as there doesn't seem to make sense through any other means. And by double Dawnbreaker, I mean just that. I fired off a Dawnbreaker, and melted enemies. Then facing more enemies, another Dawnbreaker immediately came out killing them as well (seconds later).

I'll try to upload a video of this stuff after a while. Just trying to figure out WTF is going on. Especially considering I've done VMA countless times, and have Flawless'd it numerous times as well.

    This issue is happening with me too from past week. I am on PS4 NA..

    @Jazbay_Grape It used to not be this way. But, something recently was done causing a lot of these things to occur.

    I just had a troll change course running in my direction to the island, just to go off to another island. I've had it happen so far on every single run of Stage 5.

    Round 5 is easy, i never bothered this but in round 7, Poison caller is spawning multiple times even though just killled her few mins ago..

    Isn't that normal? Poison callers spawn on a timer.

    I had a lot of stuttering issues today as well. There were lots of weird accelerations with the monsters where their attacks would go off in rapid succession. Several times I would hit skills and nothing would happen (liquid lightning and ward were the two most common offenders). On stage 9, final round I was grabbing the third gold ghost when it disappeared and reappeared next to the boss (thanks for that). I went from multiple flawless runs last week to 6 deaths in my run today.

    Voriak Solkyn sometimes knocks me down... while I'm behind the wall :|
    Crematorial Guard sometimes breathes Wildfire on me while I'm already upstairs destroying crystals :o
    Flameshaper on 8th arena is sometimes uninterruptible cause he's actually standing few meters away from where he's showing... How I find it out: I heroically survived his channel once while bashing "him" in vain, and after it ended he instantly teleported to his actual location :/
    When I kill first Argonian Minder, sometimes second one uses his lightning teleport to me instead of activating shield while Behemoth already started to scream. I roll dodge out of red... right into his Enraged scream.

    But damage of mobs and bosses is very high indeed (but for me it was same when I first tried MA after One Tamriel), so it's easy to die very fast, 3 simple attacks at once can take my 18k health to very low level - it's probably "working as intended" there :/

    Here's another thing I encountered. Shields not working properly, nor Vigor working correctly either. I don't recall ever dying to a mob wave on Stage 2, since learning VMA a long time ago. But somehow was insta-gibbed, as though I wasn't wearing any armor at all. Lol. This is also an example of my Vigor not registering at all.

    I also had this happen to me, which I've NEVER experienced in the hundreds of runs I have done. I have never had a combo like that happen to me on Stage 5. Never. It's literally a death combo.

    What makes that a death combo is: 1. I'm standing in the water, so already the foundation is set. 2. The shatter was done, and is in mid-travel. And from the speed, it looks like if I move backward it'll hit me. 3. The mermaid chick put a water cyclone behind/on me, so again moving back is not an option. 4. The boss fears me at literally the perfect time and angle (???), causing me to run back (you can't CC-break it fast enough) into the Shatter and cyclone/whirlpool. Meaning 1 of 2 things would happen. Either the cyclone would kill me, or the Shatter. In this case, the Shatter. :|

    Not always. Or at least not on PS4-NA. I've killed the damn thing before, only to die seconds later from appears to be Wildfire (reading the recap). As in the Wildfire DOT was what killed me, even though the Crem Guard was dead.

    Ok, well first, I don't think that's intended, but I know what you're talking about. Two, my point was if he breathes fire on you before going upstairs you better kill him because the DoT isn't going away on it's own.

    Isn't that normal? Poison callers spawn on a timer.

    One poison caller is spawning after boss spawn, if killed then again its spawning soon after (regardless boss is kiled or not)

    I would go into settings and make sure "Enable XBOX NA Simulator" is set to OFF. What you are describing is almost every VMA run on XBOX since Homestead dropped.

    Damn dude, that's rough. I'm only noticing this stuff as of recently, as this has not been a relatively occurring thing on PS4-NA. At least not for me. I genuinely hope something is being done, because it's ridiculous at this point. Actually, it's beyond ridiculous. There's no reason why these types of things should be occurring within a solo instance.

    I'm pretty sure they spawn on a timer so if you're taking a while to kill the boss I could see that happening. I also wouldn't be surprised if they were spawning earlier than the timer should allow. Sometimes I feel like the web spinners on stage 6 spawn too often, or the little dwemer guys with the shields on stage 4, but I always chalked it up to me not keeping track of it well enough.

    Stage 8 boss round is impossible for me to complete atm. Poison spores hit me regardless of whether I am anywhere near them or not occasionally. The boss does his stomp, but it hits several times in a row and stuns me multiple times even when being completely out of range and moving away from the lines that come out of the ground. The lightning adds sometimes don't shield at all during the scream phase. The summoner or whatever occasionally starts popping all the spores before she has even come out of the gate....

    Just one of the problems I've been having with it.... I also have several several vma clears and I know the mechanics of this boss very well because on my first clear it was the most challenging and I spent days trying to defeat it. Once learned, it became simple and can clear it flawlessly, until recently at least.

    Ps4 NA btw.

    I'm beginning to notice a trend of these things effecting primarily PS4-NA players (myself included), save for the XB1 player. Perhaps this can't be a coincidence, as I have spoken to numerous other guildies and friends. Only of course to receive similar information about how they are experiencing the same things that I am.

    Do you mind looking further into this? If need be, I'll run VMA as many times as required (shudders) in order to gather more data for you all. I'll even take more videos. @ZOS_GinaBruno @ZOS_JessicaFolsom

    The biggest issue i am still facing is getting 3/5 bows always!

    I have VMA bow 3-4 piece of each trait and 5-7 of some traits like defending and infused.

    I am starting thinking to not run anymore as i do not need anymore bow or ice staff!

    There is no single inferno or lighting staff dropped from last 2 weeks.

    Another bow and I quit VMA!

    I ran VMA, 3 times today and got 2 bows and one ice staff. This is a big dissapoinment!

    To reconfirm your suspicion I was doing vma on my stamblade last night and I noticed that the last boss would do his skull attack that nocks you back and stuns but even tho I would dodge at the appropriate time (easiest mechanic to avoid) it would hit me. This resulted in me dying on the last boss while trying for flawless on my stamnb (last toon to get this title). Pretty annoying to say the least.

    It isn't just PS4. I play on Xbox and the last time I was in that place, the ice island things would only partially load. So, I would be on one and half submerged without any mob around. So, I would just die. Then, on stage 6, the webs on the pillars didn't load for the boss round. So, that made it KINDA hard to remember which ones I had cleared. The only way to deal with it was to completely leave and then log back in. Of course, that meant I had to do all of the earlier rounds for stage 6 over to get back to the boss, which isn't easy for a terrible player like me. So, I left and haven't gone back.

    I have the problem that all my abilities grey out and i can't do anything, no dodge roll no blocking no light attacks i just die over and over again. This happens often when i use the ghost synergy in stage 9. The explosion starts, enemies are knocked down and once they are back up I can't do anything.

    Other things that hold back flawless are when enemies seem to animation cancel 3 attacks, had this several times where a boss just insta wrecks me with 3 different skills in under a second. Or that bosses go into enrage ( Stage 5/7) and i get killed because some of their attacks hit me even when they cast it before they enrage

    Yeah, these complaints aren't good at all. I think it's fair to say that VMA is actually broken. I just did a run on my MagSorc, and experienced the Wamasu from Stage 7 being clipped into the ground. Making it impossible for me to do damage to him, but he can kill me. Costing me 1 vitality. I also experienced the final boss from Stage 9 knocking me off the platform above, even though I was standing behind the protective barrier that is formed. I even had a delayed golden ghost, as usually the third and final ghost and Crematorial Guard spawn at the same time during Phase 3 of Stage 9's last round during the fight against the boss. Causing me to take unneeded extra damage.

    I ended up completing it with a 520,011 score, and 14/15 vitality. In other words... I got a really crap score. That piece of trash won't stick on Sorcerer leaderboards, and will be bumped off probably by Wednesday. Welp, back to more runs to check for bugs. Hopefully I'll get a better score, and better loot. Double defending daggers is pretty gross as well.

    I spent over 20 hours in stage 5 trying to beat it. And I've been wondering, how many of those multitude of deaths were caused by abilities not working, lag, or bugs like those described above. A couple of times I respawned in the water (forgetting to move) and died instantly - whereas when you're alive and stand in it I think it kills you in 2-3 seconds?
    Even stage 3 wasn't easy for me.

    ...Just be aware in advance at a higher than usual chance of failure, due to things out of your control (if playing on console). :trollface:

    I'm noticing the same, as of 3.0-ish (feels like) Specifically shields taking 3+4 clicks to go off and ground based skills hanging before hitting the ground. I had to double bar a shield as bar swap seems to bypass this. Seems to be an input lag.

    As a second, I've noticed my cpu usage hits higher peak values since this patch. 6700k and lots of ram, never used to happen.

    That is a well detailed bug from the precious patch, that has been completely ignored, they "fixed" bleeds from mobs ignoring armor/resist, but, something is wrong and more things are ignoring resistance. They don't care.
