"I don't care about your DPS" doesn't mean "I don't care that you post your DPS to brag". Simple as that. You may argue that posting your dps without being asked is a bit of bragging and showing off(but then let's be honest...most/all of us like showing off some when they have something to show off)
Wrong. Most players, including excellent ones, don't need nor want to show off anything. Don't generalize the attitude of a few that need for some reason to feed their real ego with their performance
There's a whole giant section in your journal for that though. One called "achievements"Let's be honest, most of us enjoy having stuff there. It might be "I did vMoL" or "I got Master Angler" or even "I decorated the best home possible/got all 3 fancy homes" but sense of progression of some kind is one of the biggest things that keep players around. And yes, that goes with showing off and it doesn't have to be all bad. If you did well in something, you should feel good about it, not bad because someone else did worse. And it's natural to want to share that.
Also at least half the pugs I end up with lately have combined dps of like <15k, and that's with all the buffs, I'm not kidding you. I'm super happy if it'll be at least 30k. I have been in a few pugs who must've pushed 70+ but it's exceptions.

Frankly at this point I feel it's time we stop trying to not hurt their feelings and tell them they're underperforming and need to get better if they want to do vet dungeons. And that's from someone who's spent 5+ hours getting newbies through vet dungeons before, prior or after or along with crafting them purple set gear for free. It shouldn't come in "l2p scrub" form but it needs to be done somehow because the amount of (high cp, too) players who are underperforming enough to make a random veteran dungeon (nearly) fail is simply amazing.

That proves that among the right people, with the correct tone and the appropriate communication, it works.
How come then that people like @OrphanHelgen (but he's not the only one in here) testify on every possible occasion that ESO is a world of brave good players facing hords of selfish clueless lazy noobs that don't want to improve in any way and need to be carried ? I think he's the problem. Not you and not me (even though we don't share the same initial point of view).
