    I don't get one thing.
I was going to make tanky magicka dd warden based on frost damage. But as I can see there is only one skill with frost damage scaled with max magicka - Frozen Gate, portal (which is obviously not for dd) and ultimate. Is it correct that skills in pet line do magick damage? May be frost after morf? Otherwise I don't understand why zos give warden frost damage bonus and almost no frost damage skills.

I wonder if other classes get a rebalancing of unused or uneffective skills.
Warden seems to me as if they when acting as tank are forced to use 1h/shield and froststaff to handle their ressources.
Or they go full @Deltia and wear engine guardian ^^

Maybe because trying to dps with a frost staff is like trying to dps with a s/b? Or how about you get the destro staff skill line to dps with? Like nbs and sorcs.

Look, I get that people have it in there head that they are some sort of rp frost mage but in this game, frost is a tanking element, not damage dealing.

This will take ages for them to get it out of their head.

Actually both magicka and stamina dk dd use shield and sword in pvp and stam dk can easily do damage with s+b skills.

I can't use destro skills in the same way as sorc because sorc have a lot of shock damage in class skils (shock destro and class skills well synergised, pets deal shock damage too) and warden will not have it.

This situation is more like nb - their class skills do magick damage too, but nb don't have any magicka type bonus.

So - what is the point in frost damage bonus?

That doesnt make them experts on the warden. Whether they are OP or not, its too soon to tell. How it looks on the paper and how it plays its completely different. Its not balanced with the other classes. No other class has all that. Thats not something you can argue. Its a damn fact.

It is a fact that you are operating from a position of ignorance. You know little to nothing about the class or the potential changes to the other classes with the coming update. Some of the top people in the game spent time playing this class and did not find it to be out of balance. I for one care a lot more about their opinions than yours. You act as if you know the full picture when all you've seen is a couple of pixels. Way to jump to conclusions.

For those people who have contributed useful information to the thread THANK YOU!!! It is much appreciated.

Its also a fact that you cant even read. I literally said this is all just speculation and its too soon to tell. You even quoted that and u are talking about me pretending to know the full picture and jumping to conclusions. Lmao.
And those people that played the warden, said by themselves that they only had 3 days to play it so its hard to judge.
it was heard to tell cause we weren't used to it yet, we did as I've said before only have 3 days to test it.

You are accusing me of things that i never said. The only one jumping to conclusions here is you either because you cant read a simple text or because you choose to read whatever suits you. In any case nice try forum warrior.

A forum warrior calling another forum warrior, a forum warrior. I love it.

    Look the issue is this.
Your speculation is based off nothing but pictures.
The others speculation is based off play testing ( yes only limited testing, but they actually played it)

The testers are saying the balance isn't too bad. I'm going to listen to them for now.

Now you're right, warden could be OP and maybe you can stack all their buffs while still being useful. But right now the best evidence we have says this is probably not the case.

I just stated some simple facts based on the pictures and what the testers actually said (they said its hard to judge cause they only had 3 days and warden's sustain is over the top) and you all lashed out and put words in my mouth that i never said just to make an argument. But im the forum warrior? Lol. What i still dont understand, is why the hell are you still trying to argue with me when u literally said that u actually agree with me?

Well 2 things, we are all forum warriors and it's fun to argue ;)

Imagine if we all agreed with each other on the forums... :/

For me, your comments came across as pessimistic and I think your concerns are a bit overstated. Where as my viewing of the same info left me more optimistic. This good enough for me to comment.

But I think we're getting off topic now.

Im not really concerned. I said i expected it and the fact alone that we have a new class is enough to excite me (for now at least, dunno when i have 20k bear hits on my recap if i still feel the same). I just made an observation. Based on what a warden can get from its class its obvious that its not balanced with the other classes. That list of buffs actually got even bigger now that we sort of know the morphs too. Whether this translates to them being OP or not its too soon to tell but yes there is a very high chance that they will be. Thats all i said. Im not even sure if there is anything to disagree about that. Thats not even my opinion. Thats just an observation.

Thats because u are looking at it the wrong way. You dont invest into magicka, you invest into hp and do a high amount of AOE dmg around you while rooting and snaring players, absorb projectiles to get magicka and major heroism, and chain people to you with frozen gate. Pair all that with major defile and lots of heals and you have urself a megatank frost mage.

You're also not looking at the complete skill lines, these are just skills they wanted to show off to the public at a convention. There may be morphs that are a bit more damage oriented. Won't know for sure for another couple months.

People just need to accept that frost has been made into a tanking/defensive element rather than damage oriented. If you want damage you need to go with fire or lightning.

You can still build frost damage for PVP and probably remain useful. The chilling element and all the CC from impale/frozen gate will make you excellent and other abilities will make you unkillable. Sleet Storm is going to be used so often to begin fights when combined with a warhorn user. But making a frost staff dps is simply not possible when heavy attacks taunt. It wouldn't work anyways because it doesn't provide passives useful for damage dealing. Just stick with being an off tank

Imagine if there was no cc immunity or cooldown on players being teleported.
2 wardens could trap players and npcs in an infinite teleport loop :D

It does grant CC immunity after teleportation. Actually while we tested it during the battlegrounds I noticed it wasn't and teleported people of off the capture points like a mad man and it was hilarious but obviously me and the others told the devs and they fixed it on the spot and minutes later it was fixed and we could test it with its CC immunity implemented. It was really cool seeing them fix something and it immediately being implemented but that was on their own servers and not on live of course, can't do that on live for obvious reasons.

Also the teleportation still has the same restrictions like DK Chains and Swarm Mother in that you can't use it to go up and down keep walls, mile gates or bridge towers. You actually can't even throw it up or down there at all if it won't teleport them, which in my opinion kind of sucks cause I hoped it would still do damage then cause it deals damage if you don't get teleported but yea that's not how it works. And to be honest as long as the skill works when it needs to and can't be exploited I'm happy.

I just remember what the 2nd morph of Ice Fortress(base morph of Expansive Frost cloak) gave. Minor Protection. So the options are Larger Radius for the buff or minor protection for yourself.

So planning out a warden tank:

    Front bar: 1h/shield
    Pierce armor for taunt/debuff
Bird of prey (speed and stamina regen)
Living trellis as a sort of self healing shield
    Frost cloak for resolve/ward
Arctic wind as a self heal
Sleet storm ultimate (or bear for easier content)

    Back bar: ice staff
    Ice shards for aoe/snare
    Elemental blockade for aoe/chill
    Growing swarm for aoe damage
    Lotus or elemental drain
    Enchanted growth for heal/regen buff
    Healing thicket or bear ultimate

Use the front bar for most single target/boss tanking and back bar for aoe packs.

Thanks @Gilliamtherogue for posting most of the morphs of the warden and all other helpful comments in this thread of you all about these morphs.

I've implemented them into our skillplanner ESO-Skillfactory.com and thanks to @RoyJade for the translation in French. So all of the known morphs of the warden are available in DE/EN/FR.

If I forgot anything, please don't hesitate to give me a hint.

Yup....it also known as a bait and switch.

Players that naturally gravitate to the latest and greatest (AKA META/FOTM) will invest a great deal of time in leveling one up and enjoy its OP nature for awhile before ZoS brings it back into balance.

Old pattern that is common in just about all MMOs I've ever played. However, it a good way to encourage players to try out a new class to see if it fits their play-style. If it does some will stick with it even after it gets balanced.

Yo, Templars and DKs are about to be boned by this class I think for tanks and healers lol Or in general tbh. I remember in the early days that ZoS kept a lot of Templar abilities nerfed because they could heal so well. Wonder what's gonna happen now that the Warden is a thing.

I played a Warden Tank in PvE and let me tell you it does not out do the Dragonknights. DK's have great selfsustain and great buffs and CC. The Warden has ok CC but not as efficient as the DK's and their self sustain is not as good. They make great off tanks cause they have good group buffs and can give good support from a back seat roll, and that's fine they will shine like hell there cause its a roll that is needed for most HM trials.

It won't be out doing the templar in healing either cause you won't be able to replace Repentance/Radiant Aura or Spear Shards or Breath of Life. But wither Fungal Conal that gives minor intellect and endurance will compliment the templars sustain support and using one of each in a trial might very well become a thing.

The class has minor berserk, major brutality, major ward, minor and major mending, major expedition and...what did I forget..oh major protection...and minor endurance, minor intellect....and I forgot something....but who cares lol

    Lol oh yes you did
So this class has minor brutality, a raw damage increase passive, unlimited snares, is resistant to snares, incredible healing, major sorcery, major prophecy, major mending, major defile, major expedition, fantastic resource management, group major defenses, increased armor, increased healing received, an executive, and a class spammable. Can it fly too?!

Edit: I forgot to add that they also have a class purge lol

    Yeah, it's that ridiculous lol

The feel I got from the Warden when I play tested it was that it was fairly balanced with the rest of the classes. We tested them not only against other wardens but against other classes too. It was not overpowered in anyway but more feedback from the future PTS might prove me wrong, but obviously more tweaks will always have to be made after it goes on PTS and later Live as people tests the full potential of the class. We did only have 3 days to test it after all.

To be honest I actually thought about the balance in this game, and I think I've been getting it all wrong. You see before homestead I felt that Templars were OP, and that MagDKs were OP 1v1, and the main thing OP about magsorcs was their shield stacking. Now that homestead has launched I feel that magDKs are very OP, but that's mainly due to the heal from embers, and their snares, and roots.

So I thought to myself "How could Magsorcs, MagDKs, and Magplars all be OP?" By definition they wouldn't be. I believe I've been thinking about it incorrectly. Magicka as a whole has become incredibly powerful, and has left stamina in the dust, and they've buffed Templars, Sorcs, and DKs quite a bit as well.

So what I think really needs to happen is instead of certain classes getting nerfed, maybe stamina as a whole needs a buff, and Nightblades specifically need attention as well.

So rather than lobby nerf Magicka, sorcs, DKs, and Templars; I think the appropriate approach would be to buff stamina, and Nightblades as a whole.

Also this, I totally agree with this, especially if they buff 2H to compete in PvE with Dual Wielding and Dual Wielding to compete with 2H in PvP.

Also I'm reading the thread, still.

    It's a long read XD

With the change to frost staff this was really predictable. Ice is the magical element of tanking and protecting in ESO. Frost staffs gives damage shields and taunt. Frost Warden heals, gives protection buffs and crowd control. Its the way it is now : / Kinda wanted a frost mage too but its frost tank now. But at least frost mage warden still works in PvP with a HP based Magicka set up. Lots of HP and magicka with points into Elemental Expert can be pretty nice.

At this point i'm thinking why even give the frost damage passive since you will probably use a fire staff anyway, i guess you could get like 1 % more dps from force pulse, but whatever.....
I also don't think sleet storm will out dps meteor or elemental rage, so yea....
