Dolmen Drones - get rid of them

I know - I've seen posts about it already. I'm posting about it again. 6 idiots standing on a rock firing destruction staves in unison.. over and over and over.. for minutes after the battle.

Annoying at the very least. It's bad enough there's ~50 people farming dolmens in Alikir's over and over again, now we have people camped at the dolmens firing their staff ... over and over again.

I don't want to call them bots (because I really don't know), but they were surely precise and methodical in their firing sequence.

So you'd want to report them each because they are not playing in a way ZOS intends.
Mostly these are either ppl holding down heavy attack for hours OR possibly bots

I don't believe that removing Dolemans is the correct action as it happens in all forms.....delves, over world, etc not just Dolemans

One thing to note...threads aren't doing anything other than discussing what we see. We all have to open reporting ingame to make a difference and perhaps if enough tickets continue, it may lead to better adjustments such as requiring player movement and not attack animations

What is it with Alik'r Desert and dolmens, I play on PC/EU and Alik'r dolmens are the only dolmens zerged 24/7 by 40-50 people.... It's close to insane.

I did not check if there were bots or anything in between, I just tried to rush the dolmens for my Fighters Guild daily quest, but holy hell it was crowded in Alik'r. I wonder if it is some sort of exploit or something going on? :S

Alik'r and Auridon have dolmens pretty close to wayshrines, so it makes them easy to cycle through.

    Alik'r also has Sword Singer.

Alikir dolmen are some of the easiest to farm. They are relatively easy to get to since they are close enough to wayshrine. I learned about those dolmen at last year Halloween event. Then there wasn't so many people running them. After that event is when it seemed to start getting zerged. Or atleast on xbox na anyways. Ofcourse that event was happening at same time OT was released.

I mean, I don't really care if people farm them. Hell, I've done it once when I was level 49.

What prompted the post was the very, very automated behaviour of several characters all standing together facing a spot next to the dolmen, doing the same thing, over and over again.

That's what I want to get rid of.

This, on pc its even an addon service running most of the time who group you if you type +dolmen.

Downside of the zerg is that you get an xp reduction for huge groups so you get less than just overland grinding.
If you are 3-6 on an dolmen that is pretty optional in my experience.
Its however an nice way to train skills it hard to train grinding like healing and tank skills, it also drop jewelry depending on zone.
Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

I have not seen this on PC EU and farmed plenty of dolmens in Arduin and Alikir.
Has been an few players who stand beside dolmen, has done that myself to take breaks but nobody with autofire.
As you are grouped you still get xp from fighting at dolmen.

All ZOS has to do is increase the spawn timer on the dolmens, then the bots go away.

It is kind of insane right now anyway, going from dolmen to dolmen in a zerg and having it come up before I even get to the Wayshrine.

Tbh, I don't believe anyone legit can be that bored simply firing off a single attack for hours, 100% Bots.

They are bots, or duct taped controllers, or a weight placed on the mouse button, or something like that. They're cheats and they shouldn't be allowed to continue, but ZOS does nothing about them. All it would take is a lowly intern taking an hour or two from his day to go around banning all of the accounts doing it and the practice would stop in a hurry.

It wouldn't even be difficult to implement a change that would help prevent it going forward. Just add a new phase at the start of the event that sucks all of the players within firing range into the center of the dolmen. Real players would certainly not have any issues with that.

I reported 13 at a dolmen in Auridon. Surprised I didn't get a ban myself for spamming support tickets lol.

I find it so infuriating when I see this going on.

I wonder if a solution would be to have the exp drop only when you open the chest. That would certainly make it so you have to actually be there to open the chest to get the exp. That way, dolmen zergs would still get their exp and loot, but rubberbanders would be SOL.

It makes me so sad that in the cinematic trailers, the dark anchor battles look so epic. In game, so pathetic. They've been made a mockery and its time to make them awesome again.

It's starting to look like it's open game again for bots, automating attacks, etc. I mean the last time something like this was going on, it was on bosses in delves, and zenimax did react. Zenimax isn't reacting now. I mean if someone were to get banned for automating any process couldn't they make a case for discrimination against Zenimax? (i.e. they were singled out while zenimax allowed widespread automated play elsewhere.)

The dolmen afk farming is just gonna grow, cause players are going to see everyone else do it, and are just gonna join in.

No. I think people take this discrimination stuff way too far. You pay for the right to play the game. Nothing more. If they want to go through and ban people, they can. If they choose to wait and do a mass ban, they can. In the end it is their software and we are just along for the ride.
I Am sure some smarty pants lawyer wanna be will come in and say we have all kinds of rights. But to that I say "Don't lawyer me bro" I also have been reporting them and was worried about getting a ban for reporting to many. I think the simple solution is as said above to make it so you only get the exp from opening the chest after the fight. Or spawn a mob on the rock that does massive dmg to people standing in a small area all together. Of course I suppose they could also just make the last boss spawn at random spots around the Dolmen.
What is the definition of insanity? Ask ZOS.

If you see several PC's standing in the same spot casting the same spell at a boss spawn location while said boss is not there.......

That is literally the definition of a Bot in action. Report and move on.

Bots are becoming a problem again, which is cray cray. I honestly didn't think id see bots after the great Bot Spider Boss War of Launch circa 2014.

Hopefully they, them, those people who handle bots will take care of the problem as effectively as they did last time.
There are rules against naming and shaming on these forums... But did you know there are other ESO related forums where you could post a pic of bot? Just food for thought :D

You've got no idea how tough it is to level in this game.

Think about Everquest back in 2001, the leveling system.
This game is on a WHOLE new level of how hard it is to level.

I use to park my toon and have something push down my mouse 1 button so it would autoattack all day. Had too man, catching up with these guys CP 1077, gotta get creative, gotta do what Rich Piana says "whatever it takes!"

Yes, however it looks like its not the big gold sellers who are in action, back then bots was an real problem you could have 50 bots in lockstep running around, or the stream going into coldharbor, that is the reason for the 3 char delete limit.

Now its simply players wanting free xp while away.
Guess its others too, setting your character to click to activate an node to farm an resource is far less visible, you see him and he looks just afk for an moment and you move on.
Grinding just make you go in circles.

I didn't report anyone. I'm going to be in Alikirs again tonight. I'll keep an eye on it, and screenshot all the account names and report them this time. I suggest everyone else do so as well, if the mood strikes you to do so.

Someone earlier seemed to think I wanted to get rid of dolmens - no! Just the people behaving in very bot like behaviour.

What about this idea to resolve the issue: "if you don't move from co-ordinate x/y for 30 minutes, even if performing skills, you are disconnected from the server"? No more annoying dolmen bots. If you are pouring over your inventory or skills for long periods of time, just remember to move once in a blue moon and you'll be fine.

The only problem with that is that people like me will sometimes keep the game running while we make a sandwich/let the dog out/answer the phone, etc., and only go to the computer every couple of minutes to press a button or so to keep the game from logging out from inactivity. Of course, in those instances, we aren't going to be participating in any dolmen fights, but just standing there doing nothing.

I reported each one individually, and had others around also report them.
