And yet you play the game? I get housing may not be everyone's thing, but "worth" is a matter of opinion. Is the game "worth" $60? Considering you don't own any of it, that's up to each individual.
The Manors are incredibly out of the question, but I was still a horrible person and spent $80 worth of Crowns buying and furnishing two of the Staple Homes. I really shouldn't have done that, there's no use whatsoever for these things and now I'm suffering incredible buyer's remorse over this. I was strong enough to resist the Crown Crates but when Homestead came I just broke down, and the worst part is there's no refunds even though I'd gladly give up my access to those homes again in exchange.
Did not preorder Morrowind yet but also not interested on the Homestead until they get to implement storage. At the moment, I just have all the three free homes. Maybe when I get some attunable crafting stations and the DPS dummies I may opt for a apartment.

"Who actually bought manors with crown or gold"
I'm one of those that bought without crown or gold.
I used AP and Tel Var stones to buy it.
There are 2 of the Large category houses in particular that I really like. I was going to get Hunding's Palatial Hall and Forsaken Stronghold in preference to any of the manors. Then I realized that you can go cliff diving from Daggerfall Overlook, so I had to get itI bought one of the Large category houses. I like them much better than any of the Manors.

I'm still planning on getting both Hunding's and Forsaken though, I just have to rebuild my gold reserves after spending it all on Daggerfall Overlook.
I thought the trap door was pretty pointless, as slaughterfish keep you from swimming any distance away from it. Until I realized that it's not to get out of the manor into the water. It's to get in to the manor from the water after you do some cliff diving from right above the water that the trap door leads out to!There are 2 of the Large category houses in particular that I really like. When I toured Daggerfall Overlook, I completely missed the trap door that exits into water. I only recently saw it in a video and thought it was one of the coolest features in all the homesteads. Provides a lot of room for creativity in that space.

I haven't done much decorating of my manor yet, but the first thing I did was set up a diving board above the trap doorNelson_Rebel wrote: »I thought the trap door was pretty pointless, as slaughterfish keep you from swimming any distance away from it. This is an interesting observation! I wish they added cool additions like that to the others

The Island is the only house I'm interested in. Everything else is Meh, won't waste gold or real money on this stuff. As days go by I'm losing interest in the Island, as I can see what kind of grind I'm in for. ZOS should have had it available for purchase on day one of housing.

I agree. The island is also the only home I was really interested in. Because ZOS didn't release it, and no release date has been published, I bought the Hundings Palatial Hall (furnished) will crowns, then made modifications to please me and make it useful for guild and visitors. It has all the crafting stations (not attunable), the dye station, all three assistants, and both the standard and robust dummies. Even though I can afford to spend some entertainment money on housing in the game, now that I've experienced home ownership, I don't know if also buying the island is worth it.
One thing I've notice that's disappointing...even though I've made it available to two guilds, no one seems to bother using the place, unless they do when I'm off line. Really...other than something to tinker with, houses have very, very limited value. I think I'd feel the same way about the island, which was very appealing at first and now not so much. If my reaction is common among players, ZOS may have made a big mistake waiting to release the island.
