You guys broke your RNG machine or forgot to turn it on

I dont understand why even paying ESO+ members have to suffer through endless gates just for the items they want (rng).
I have missed an entire cycle of Cyrodiil because I am trying to get a sharpened spellweave inferno staff and I dont undertand why I can have a bank full of embershield and sunderflame sharpened weapons, yet not a single bsw staff. I have run CoA with groups and solo over 250 times now, this is the definition of ridiculous.

I mean for crying out loud if you want to gate DLC gear behind a paywall then cool, but can the non dlc dungeon gear be swapped to BoE at least? Or bring the other traits up to par, tone down sharpened...whatever. BSW is a great performing set, but I am missing out on the content I WANT to play trying to gear for it. And FFS, what happened to putting crafters at the center of this economy? This wouldnt even be an issue if there were desirable crafted sets....

I mean BoE is a hard counter to RNG, why cant you allow those lucky enough to get a sharp staff the option to sell or trade it? I am positive there are players here with one rotting in their banks....

edit- i want to clarify that the drop rate is way too low. farming sets is an MMO experience. I get it, but after 250 runs.....comon

I am positive there are players here with one rotting in their banks....

I do actually have one rotting in my bank.

However, because I play mostly PvE, I'm suffering from another problem: It's pretty useless for what I want because I either need a second Sharpened BSW Inferno staff or it's going to be completely useless because my Armour Slots are instead going to be BSW Divines/Infused with either Willpower/Infalliable Aether and eventually the inevitable grind for Sharpened weapons in vMA.

I'd love to be able to trade that staff or sell it and help someone else out. So in the end, it'll be more likely that I'm going to be stuck with a staff that I'm honestly going to be unable to use.

I agree as well. The RNG and my luck with the RNG in this game is another reason why I rarely visits Cyrodiil. Also I have not truly bothered to do vMA because of it being not only so hard and demanding but also so unrewarding because of the RNG in this game.(People have claimed to have done the damn vMA more then 300 runs and still not get the items they wanted.)

BoE wouldn't solve the issue with crappy RNG, it would just allow those rich in-game to bypass the crappy RNG.

IMO the solution is to reduce the number of variables in the RNG equation while increasing the number of winning outcomes.

This could be done by better balancing the traits, removing non-combat traits, and reducing bad combinations of weapon / item, trait, set (who wants a destro staff with +defensive on a stamina damage boosting set?).

Also weapon drops should be balanced across individual weapons / weapon slot and not the overall category (2H, 1H, Bow, Resto, Destro) - such that the chance to get two swords (one slot) is the same as getting one bow (one slot).

RNG seems to have the ability to determine what you want and give you exactly the opposite. I've lost count of the number of sharpened magic bows and sharpened stam staves this game has given me.

And yet there is not response on the state of RNG by ZOS. We should spam the forums until there is nothing but threads about RNG. Farming set weapons is completely out of control, due to the imbalance in traits and therefore only a small percentage of the drops (less than 1%) is useful.

    A charged BSW inferno staff?

those charged ones are currently unavailable (recall for unanticipated explosions id set next to certain tablets) but we have a few prosperous staves remaining... can we sub them in? We can toss in a training Torug's Pact Helmet for free if they accept the sub.

BSW - Seven body pieces available (lets drop two down to five to leave the monster stuff available) and three jewels available and someone bases a build around the one key weapon and complains about grinding for it on the forums?

    Say it ain't so,.

i gotta say - seems to me instead of trying to thread rage the problem away, i might start looking at alternative build where the weapon comes from crafted. or BoE drop sets where the massively bigger RNG issues for weapons are not nearly as big of an issue.

Builds with BOE or crafted weapons and BoP/BoE/crafted body/jewels seem to be a massively more achievable with more reasonable time investment even if maybe only 99% as good as alternatives.

So, if you choose to go the BoP weapon route, isn't the time lost doing run after run after run on you?

PS if my reading of the patch notes in PTS was right... old way would have inferno staves at 1/18th of the drops (1/6 of the weapon lines and1/3 of the destro staves) but soon they will be like 1/12 of the drops (then of course apply the trait factors) so maybe it will get a little better. but not much cuz traits is the bigger hammer for those of the "only one trait" crowd.)

Ok. so this is the reason I have to grind dolmens: no crafted jewelry.

Character 1: bow/2h stamina NB running 5 pieces TBS, 2 NMG + NMG bow and NMG Greatsword. using thief and shadow mundus weapon crit ~62% weapon damage bow 1700 sword 2200. I farmed Shadowfen dolmens for 3-pc jewelry weapon damage from Swamp Raider set. so a 5/3/3

Character 2 Breton magicka nb running 5 Julianos 2 Mother's sorrow + 3 pc mother's sorrow jewelry so your basic 5/5/1
My spell crit is ~ 62% spell dmg 1500.

AFAIK, these are the best I can obtain through crafting/drop hybrids. I have no desire to chase the Uber gear but I feel for the guys who need to for end game content viability. Shame on ZoS for designing this mess. Double shame on the tubers who reinforce it.

I honestly think ESO has more grind than Korean MMOs. It's positively insane.

The easiest solutions would be to make all gear BoE or to make crafted gear BiS.
