Dye Weapons with Morrowind?

I really don't want color dyes added

I do want to be able to use the artwork from other materials and that changes the color and look on weapons more realistically IMO

Agreeing with @NewBlacksmurf I want to have the ability to change the colour of my weapons, however I want them to do this right and limit the colours per area correctly. I believe they said it on ESO Live when this was discussed #NoPinkSwords

^This. To add: We've got half-naked characters running around in bath towels. We've got characters sporting weird goggles and cooking pots on their heads. ZOS's original statements when the game launched implied their desire to keep ridiculousness out of their game. Over the past two years, their actions no longer match those original words. The ridiculous is now here stay.

SO to those 5 people who say they don't want the ability to dye weapons. We ALREADY are able to dye armor and shields. Dying weapons crosses the line for you?

    @AlMcFly

    1. Armor and shields already had dyes prior to it being added. We just couldn't change it.
    2. Weapons however, don't already have dyes so, to me it's a big different thing but I also don't believe that random colors are better than actual materials

    That's, actually, not true.

Weapons already have a non-customizable dye system in place. A weapon's primary color is determined by the weapon's tier. So, for swords, this would be the blade. It's secondary and tertiary colors are affected by the quality of the item (white, green, blue, purple, and gold). A pair of rubidite frostcaller daggers, where one has been upgraded to purple, and the other to gold will have different colors (the handle on the legendary will be an off-white, while the purple's will be a light brown). A pair of iron Breton swords where one's white, and one's blue will have visible changes in the cross guard (the white one's guard will appear to be iron, while the blue one's will be gold or brass). A really obvious one used to be ancient elf swords. If they were upgraded to blue, the blade would take on a pale blue, almost stalhrim, coloration, while at green, purple, and gold, the blade was varying shades of green. A white one would have a pale white blade.

The material is also simply a color channel. You can see this most readily when you're comparing weapons from motifs that don't change. An iron thieves guild dagger will have a pale gray blade, while a rubidite one will be vivid red. This is just a dye effect, and is not hard locked. This also applies to the classic motifs. There's no way to see a dwarven colored iron sword, but you can check any of the unified endgame styles, Dwarven and higher. So an Ebony and Rubidite weapon will use the same visuals, and are only differentiated by how the blade has been dyed by the game.

Well, if they're CR50 or so, they get pink weapons. So, yes, it does, as the game exists now.

This has needed to happen for a long time... Like since shields became dye-able, weapons should have too.

This has to happen, I can't take it anymore that every time I try to use a different dye set up for my Armour the "RED WEAPON" just throws it off so much. Example I wanna use a blue, gold/yellow, and black but than you have that huge red staff just killing the vibe. Please ZOS add this already it has been way overdue now and I don't care if your lazy just start doing it and get it over with and done.

Difficulty scaling is desperately needed. 9 years. 6 paid expansions. 25 DLCs. 41 game changing updates including A Realm Reborn-tier overhaul of the game including a permanent CP160 gear cap and ridiculous power creep thereafter. I'm sick and tired of hearing about Cadwell Silver&Gold as a "you think you do but you don't"-tier deflection to any criticism regarding the lack of overland difficulty in the game.

In the case of the Crown Crates, I feel ZOS just made an executive decision, and didn't care about player input on them. To be clear, ZOS probably cares about players, but you CANNOT ignore the monetary boon RNG crates have statistically been proven to bring to company revenue. Despite the massive backlash, the revenue is undeniable.

Weapon dyes won't have such a drastic revenue affect, but it will ad a HUGE quality of life feature. It won't be a favor if they implement it though. It's something that SHOULD have already been in the game with armor and shield dying.

Yeah, I wish that ZOS had kept to that. There was plenty of room to play without going over the top and into silly. The Dro-m'Athra stuff is probably the worst offender. The Storm Atronach stuff is up there, too, but the low drop rate, plus the apparent lack of traction for Crown Crates, keeps them more rare. At least, I rarely see them when I play. Maybe they are more popular where I am not.

It is not that simple. When the players agree with them, party for everyone. When the players don't agree with them, party for them. Either way, they do what they want. Eventually, the complaining in the forum will go away. Some of the people go away, too.

Plagues and pestilence, earthquakes and volcanoes, could not have prevented Crown Crates. Who ever it was inside Bethesda or ZOS that was championing these would have braved death and dismemberment to push the button that launched them. I think that any employee who voiced disapproval would have been shown the exit. They were that important.

Hopefully, weapon dyes will be an ESO Plus benefit. I am on the fence as to whether they should allow Crown Dye Packs to work. My thought is that weapon dyes are a top premium feature, and will likely have fewer customizable color channels. Maybe just one, for some weapons. The existing dye packs might not be appropriate. They could save themselves a bundle of development expense by giving it to ESO Plus and not putting weapon dye packs in the Crown Store.

Now that the huge wave of Homestead complaint threads have mellowed out, I figured it's time to bump this thread for anyone who hasn't contributed a vote. Please leave a comment as well in order to keep this close to the front page of the forums. If this topic isn't constantly talked about, no one at ZOS will care about it.

Ages ago, when the game was under a different lead design, and his reasoning was that pink swords aren't manly. Well guess what! OUR SWORDS ARE ALREADY PINK!*

Stop this. I love how the same people who say that dyeing swords is unrealistic or hard for ZOS to implement are totally willing to advocate for a needlessly more complicated system involving swapping to other metals and only using pre-existing appearances in the game.

Tell that to the existing red, purple and rose tinted swords that I can't dye to look like steel.
Just so that everyone knows, my Altmer still can't have black hair. About a dozen of Altmer NPCs in the game have black hair. Just saying.

    Meet my characters:
    Command: Do the thing.

Zadarri, Khajiit Fist of Thalmor: The thing was done, as commanded.
Durza gra-Maghul, Orc blacksmith: The thing was done perfectly, in the most efficient way.
Tegwen, Bosmer troublemaker: You can't prove I didn't do the thing.
Sings-Many-Songs, Argonian fisher: Sure, I'll do the thing... Eventually. Maybe.
Aerindel, Altmer stormcaller: After extensive research, I've come to the conclusion that doing the thing would be a waste of resources.
Liliel, Dunmer pyromancer: Aerindel said I shouldn't do the thing. Something about "resources".
Gyda Snowcaller, Nord cryomancer: I will find a way to do it that won't waste resources and make Aerindel proud of me.
Beatrice Leoriane, Breton vampire: I persuaded someone else into doing the thing. You are welcome, dear.
Sahima, Redguard performer: Doing the thing sounds awfully unpleasant and really not my problem.
Ellaria Valerius, Imperial priestess: I'll pray to the Eight for the thing to be done, if it is Their will.
