The idea that "Play how you want," meant all build approaches would be viable for all content. Play how you want meant, near as I can tell, that no matter what your approach to the game, there would be endgame options for you. If you wanted to collect endgame gear, you didn't need to go to PvP or run Dungeons, you could craft, or farm drop sets.
It's not quite as true now, because there are things you simply cannot obtain, that are useful for your build, without running a lot of content you might not enjoy, but the general idea is still true. You can play the game how you want, you just need to tailor your build according to what you're doing.

Omg me too! Soo annoying lol

They kinda do though. Think about it for a moment. The Dominion had: Beaches, jungles, the best cities (and most modern), a lit hub (Grahtwood has EVERYTHING in a giant circle and then some outside), etc. The only thing AD is lacking in their zones is snow. That's it.

I definitely can see why people find the AD zones aesthetically pleasing. Personally only Auridon and Reaper's March stand out to me. The rest is just trees. Lots of trees.
Wait, what? You realize that House Telvanni is just as joinable (for any race) as any other house in RP. To quote "The Affairs of Wizards":starkerealm wrote: »Also: RPers who chose an illegal character build to make themselves feel special. Ugh the AD zones are awful. Completely utterly awful.

I could have sworn that "proc" was just short for procedural, as in a procedure that occurs when triggered.

Could be true. In fact I heard the term a few times myself in combination with "procedural" in old times where I played Everquest. Both definitions differ not much. They actually explain the same.

On a related note, Meta being taken to mean, "most efficient tactic available," bugs me. It's actually a shortened from, "metagaming," which is behavior in an RPG where a player uses out of game knowledge to optimize their efficacy. The "most efficient tactic available," version is a backronym. Not a huge thing, but, you know, it irks me.

You know, I see the word even being used outside the realm of gaming. I've seen a movie or TV show called "meta" for breaking the forth wall or referencing a meme. A celebrity making an Internet meme is considered "being meta".
Pretty funny imo.
The fact that you really "can't" play the way you want in game. You are, in fact, forced to play certain gear and abilities in order to not get bullied, cursed at, /whisper attacked, kicked, or simply not invited to a group. Zenimax has not done enough to balance the math across all spectrums. Too hard? Too bad. Making a "damage cap" to aspire towards is a far better system which support the free-play style imho. Thus, not every player is running around doing the exact same freaking thing, with the exact same abilities and gear.

You actually can't. Since Telvanni are not a member of The Pact, nor Covenant or Dominion for that matter. And, since you can't roll up a character without a PvP affiliation... To be fair, that specific example only started to bug me after your multiple, "I wanna buy slaves," threads, where you defended your right to buy and own slaves by proudly declaring that the Telvanni were not, in fact, a member of The Ebonheart Pact.
