My guess is Crate-Exclusive recolor.Just so that everyone knows, my Altmer still can't have black hair. About a dozen of Altmer NPCs in the game have black hair. Just saying.

Durza gra-Maghul, Orc blacksmith: The thing was done perfectly, in the most efficient way.
Tegwen, Bosmer troublemaker: You can't prove I didn't do the thing.
Sings-Many-Songs, Argonian fisher: Sure, I'll do the thing... Eventually. Maybe.
Aerindel, Altmer stormcaller: After extensive research, I've come to the conclusion that doing the thing would be a waste of resources.
Liliel, Dunmer pyromancer: Aerindel said I shouldn't do the thing. Something about "resources".
Gyda Snowcaller, Nord cryomancer: I will find a way to do it that won't waste resources and make Aerindel proud of me.
Beatrice Leoriane, Breton vampire: I persuaded someone else into doing the thing. You are welcome, dear.
Sahima, Redguard performer: Doing the thing sounds awfully unpleasant and really not my problem.
Ellaria Valerius, Imperial priestess: I'll pray to the Eight for the thing to be done, if it is Their will.2 -

Then I won't feel so bad splurging on the original one. I was worried I would never be able to get a recolor without the crates. Really I was wanting a white elk. But didn't want to chance it.0 -

✭I knew they'd pull something like the Elk reskin, just like they did with the orsinium brown bear (followed by white bear and spotted bear). I'd feel silly if I had spent on the Elk mount, only to realize later that I would have to pay again for a cooler looking one.
How much will that one cost? 6k crowns?5 -

To everyone commenting that "this stuff looks good but I won't be buying crates," congratulations. I commend you on standing for what you believe.
However, I, and many others, will be buying crates. Stop worrying about how other people spend their money. If you think that by profiting from crown crates, the devs will turn all of their time and resources towards producing more crown crate items instead of playable content, then that's pretty shortsighted and I don't see the logic behind that mentality at all. ZOS is a corporation and they want money. They also want to keep their playerbase happy so they continue to make money.

The racial-themed costumes aren't what they were talking about, since those can be worn by characters of any race.
